Well, I'm pigged off. My last post (which was long and terribly interesting) seems to have disappeared.

I hope you feel better Nellie and I hope you got some sleep Bellanonna.

The cough is a real buggeration. Mine has lasted about 6 weeks now and, just when I think it has gone, it reappears with a vengeance. It is exhausting!

nandg, I hope you had a happy weekend of celebration.

I hope to be back later for a proper catch up but we have our yearly gardener coming today and she can talk the hind leg off a donkey.

OOH I love the word pigged kitty I shall store it for future use. I have often silently used "the other word" but now I can express my feelings out loud without causing offence (she hopes).

nelliemoser you are NOT WELL and I hope you can get some rest to shake off your virus. As kitty has found, they can go on for weeks and it is exhausting especially when your sleep is also interrupted. Oh for the luxury of someone to make our Lemsip for us, take responsibility in the kitchen (without trashing it) and the fat chance of a couple of days in bed "recuperating". Bellanonna knows where I am coming from too
Wishing you all a good week, the "calm before the storm" perhaps? I know it is possibly my last chance to get this place sorted because next thing we know Santa will be leaving sooty footprints all over the carpet and it will be too late to attack the ironing!!

'Pig off' was first uttered by DS2 aged about 4 when my mum was telling him off for something. If course, we all dissolved and it has been in regular use ING the Lester household ever since.

I have stupidly offered to make cakes for various events so my calm before the storm will involve making a variety of sponges. Silly me! Xx

Thank you for all your good wishes. The big day passed quite quietly. I think I hoped for more but things have changed since my grans day when 40 years meant something. I'm not sure it does any more

Bellanonna I cannot begin to imagine how awful it must be to suffer long-term insomnia. a good night's sleep is essential. There was a brief period when I had difficulty sleeping. I took herbal Nytol for a short time. I seem to remember that at the time it did help.

NanaandGrampy and DaphneB I rarely step outside our kitchen. All I ask is to be left in peace with like-minded Granspals.

Haven't been here much lately as my sister has been visiting. We get on very well and it is a shame she lives so far away. But a good week. I am back now and hopefully have caught up with everyone's good times and woes. My daughter has just said she might visit next month which will really cheer me up. Fingers crossed by everyone please that she can get a cheap flight (she doesn't want to drive all the way on her own).

Tizliz My fingers are well and truly crossed. I hope for both your sakes that a cheap flight is available. Keep us updated, please.

The watercolour of my nephew's long-haired cat is coming along pleasingly. I shall put it to one side until tomorrow afternoon. Care home visit in the morning.

Arrived safely in the wilds of Norfolk so a lovely surprise in our log cabin from one of our daughters. She sent them here because we're away for a week so would have been wasted at home.

Nellie you sound very poorly still . I see a lot of relaxing in your future

Bella I cannot empathise sadly with your insomnia. From my army days I learnt to sleep on a knife edge so never had a problem but Grampy has spells where he suffers like you. Have you tried a white noise app or if it won't send you to the loo, light rainfall. There are lots of free ones and I love the sound of rain on a window pane. Always sends me off . Or maybe try one of the sleep apps that works out your circadian rhythm?

It was a glorious afternoon with wall-to-wall blue sky covered with jet trails two of which made a perfect saltire - perhaps a precursor to St Andrew's Day tomorrow?

Sorry - in case you don't know: a saltire is the diagonal cross as seen in white on a blue background on the Scottish flag.

Just peeping in to say hello! Couldn't drop off last night, must investigate sources of white noise and information about circadian rhythms. I'm technically inept. GD became nervous when she taught me copy and paste and I (tongue in cheek!) implied the material copied was stored in my right index finger until I pasted. Bad granny!

Mia was crouching over something in the yard earlier, on investigation, it turned out to be a rather dead rat, poor thing. Not the usual rat though, this was quite furry, maybe a water rat from the river out front? I had to bring her inside while I removed it.

Nellie Mosers engineering solutions. I am feeling pleased with myself for once.
A few months ago I bought some good secatures. Neither pair came with a holster to put them in when working and they really need holsters, when you are up a ladder. They are quite heavy but will now be firmly held in their cases.

There was nothing at all like what I wanted on line so I designed my own.
All it cost was £1 for a pair of charity shop denim jeans size 2ys. I did have to fiddle about for a couple of days to get it to work and it does. I will need to make one for the smaller pair but I know exactly how to do it now so it should not take long.

I did not steal the jeans from my little DGSs .

Relaxing here a bit before I try to go to sleep. It's been a mixed day, some fun but more worry via the phone concerning our friend. I so wish I had a magic wand to fix things!

n&g, those flowers are beautiful. Your 40th anniversary is definitely something to be celebrated, enjoy your break. As ever I am envious if anyone spending time in Norfolk. It's ages since we have seen our oldest friends who live there. It was our home County for a while and I love it still, especially Therfird forest although the Broads come a close second. Wish white noise worked for me. Sadly not, hence my late nights in the kitchen

Thank you for the hug crafting, it's one of those times when I feel pulled in a million directions. A hug sort of fixes me back together. Feeling stronger today and know I can't be the fixer, just the listener.

cornergran I only use a safe step ladder set against a fence and some Leylandii stumps and I have not been up while I have been feeling rough. My wisteria is accessible from ground level (and when my homemade pergola eventually collapses) I will get some men in to put in a proper one. I am fairly careful.
