I love that view of the bridge across the water at Inverary, but my heart was in my mouth at the thought of you going over Rest and be Thankful in winter! But I`m so pleased that you had a great meet up. Lovely photos.
My eldest son came round today to look through his dad`s clothes, took 2 bagsfull home, but there are still 3 bagsfull in the garage to be collected in the morning by the Butterfly Hospice. I haven`t started on coats and shoes yet, that`s for another day.

You have much beauty around you. Pleases you had a good catchup soop and bags.

"No change" is always good, I feel, given that at our age "change" isunlikely to be for the better!!
Also glad to hear all travellers were safely home, we can forget what winter conditions are like as we so rarely experience more than the odd flutter of snow or sleet further south. The way the "warnings" are offered for e.g. "2cm of snow" just makes for a hollow laugh!

oldgoat I shall try to snooze during the back seat drive to Glasgow. Our pal is a good driver. It's a long and oft-times twisty road. Especially between here and Lochgilphead. The gritters have been busy. Just as well because there's been a very hard frost.

Dear MacSporran has washed the dishes and is sweeping through the house. This is the mark of a truly good man.

He has coughed (politely) and suggests that we should be getting into our best bib and tucker.

Yep! That's what I shall do. It will be late when we return home. I may not have time to log on and catch up. I shall return tomorrow morning (before we prepare for the big funeral in the village.)

How lovely that your friend asked mourners at his funeral to wear bright clothing. When a friend died recently all her family wore turquoise because it was her favourite colour. Her funeral was focused on celebrating her life.

I finally finished an aeroplane blanket requested by young Cooper . Its been many months in the making because I don't do much knitting in the summer but thank goodness its all done now .

A lazy day except for the ironing today....darn it I cannot sleep on crumpled pillow slips !!

I love Cooper's blanket, would he share it with Tara? She does have her baby quilt which she loves.

N&G you would not sleep a wink in this house because I have given up ironing. I never did iron bedding. My mother who had one day off a month when I was small, ironed bra straps, knickers and underpants so the mounds of ironing she had I think put me off.

It is a sunny if cold day here today. What I should do and what I actually do I suspect will be two different things. The heating is on and the house is cosy.

Wow! Cooper's blanket will become a family heirloom. Perfect!

I have to apologise before I go any further. I still haven't had time to catch up on our backlog of emails. There has been precious little spare time during the passed few days.

Yesterday's funeral was simple and moving. No fuss, family flowers, two hymns and lots of jollity afterwards when everyone got together. A befitting farewell to a truly lovely man.

The journey home was in darkness. We were rear seat passengers. It seemed to take forever to cover the miles back to the village. We're about to smarten up for a big, formal, church funeral in the village. The church will be packed to capacity.

Maybe later, when I've read the emails and such, I shall have time to return to spend some time with you lovely lot. I shall have a few pics to share with you. (((hugs)))

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your friends soop but hope that you have found comfort in celebrating their lives with other friends. It's good to gather and laugh and cry and tell stories of special times together. I think we need those times.

Even better to have a lovely blether with bags. Im curious as to what the official photographer does with himself when you two are nattering.I'm glad those daunting journeys are safely behind you all too.

I'm about halfway through my almost two week stay in England. DH couldn't come this time. Am I enjoying my "holiday" ? You bet

macsporran was seeing medical staff while soop and I were nattering, dusty. The three of us had lunch together.

MacSporran was having a dye injected into his veins in readiness for the CAT scan. He joined us for thirty minutes and then returned to confer with the specialist. He's fond of bags and usually manages to join in with some of the blether. Ooops! I've just seen bags' post.

The formal funeral was on a grand scale. The brother of the deceased spoke most eloquently of the life and times of his sister. He's a retired barrister, and although in his mid- eighties, he didn't falter in his tribute to her colourful and eventful life. We didn't continue to the cemetery for the burial.

Yesterday's scenery, and this morning's part rainbow over the sea.

Two funerals in as many days soop I suppose that's what happens at our age, but I hope they were uplifting celebrations of a life lived well and to the full. The quality of a life not just its length is what counts after all.
It can be a bit of a "memento mori," though, and I have found myself beng more moved by funerals than I was perhaps a few decades ago.

To raise a smile (I hope) it looks as if young Flynn is planning to leave home. Not sure where he is off to, not Granny's this time but he seems to be looking forward to it!

Flynn is having great fun- I only hope that he has somewhere in mind because it is too cold to be wandering or crawling the streets. He is such a gorgeous and intelligent young man.

What a good rugby match I've just watched. Scotland are on good form this autumn with excellent wins over Argentina last week and Georgia today. Can only hope this form will extend into the six nations matches. They have a great captain in Laidlaw who manages, somehow, to be everywhere on the pitch at the same time.
