Oh, soop, I'm sending you good vibes! You should never have to suffer. I know everyone says it but it there is anything I can do for you? sending you love.xxxxx

DaphneBroon Wed 02-Nov-16 18:36:54

charleygirl that is amazing, are you a private ?? Seriously impressive detective work!!
?And ?

Charleygirl Wed 02-Nov-16 18:27:50

soop her name is Susie Bates and she is still working at the private hospital. I obviously do not know the days. Try 0187 225 2727 and her private secretary should be able to rake out your notes.

My original fear was that she had retired but not yet. We will sort it out and you can go out for lunch tomorrow with a spring in your step and a smile on your face. Leave it to your secretary in London!

soop Wed 02-Nov-16 18:06:53

Tizliz I have attempted to contact someone who may know the answer. All I get is a taped message to call back later.

soop Wed 02-Nov-16 18:05:20

You lot are lovely. I've managed a small smile. Thanks to Wobblb My eyelids are jumping. Stress, methinks. I'm in a dismal mood at the mo'.

I've phoned the lady for whom I worked at the time of going into hospital. She visited me several times. I had to leave a message as she isn't available.

I need to log off. By tomorrow I intend being in a better frame of mind. It wouldn't do to be unhappy on MacS's birthday. He deserves better.

If I do visit the kitchen before we leave home for his celebratory lunchtime treat, I shall catch up with you then.

smile moon

Tizliz Wed 02-Nov-16 18:03:41

soop could you have had a private operation in a NHS hospital?

P.S. Happy Birthday to MacS

annsixty Wed 02-Nov-16 17:44:50

I had already pointed that out kitty but it was one of the many posts I have made that hasn't posted this week.

Wobblybits Wed 02-Nov-16 17:00:21

Soop. I got up too soon after a minor op (the first of many) to go to the toilet. Passed out, grabbed the chain, pulled the cistern off the wall, which in turn smashed the toilet pan and flooded the bathroom. I was not invited back.

Gagagran Wed 02-Nov-16 16:47:18

soop would Galen be able to help with tracing the surgeon if you know her name?

DaphneBroon Wed 02-Nov-16 16:44:37

Soop it is perhaps unfortunate that you did NOTpull the taps off as they might have remembered you better had a note of the invoice from the plumber.
But seriously what a pain, it does actually say something in favour of computerisation, for a change!

DaphneBroon Wed 02-Nov-16 16:41:56

kittylester I did once spend 10 minutes with 2 parents at a Parents' Evening st school (and teenage boy shall we call him Sam?) telling them all about his progress.
Imagine my cold sweat consternation 20 minutes or so later when another couple introduced themselves as Sam's parents and I realised I had got the wrong boy ???I didn't even teach "notSam" but recognised his parents as I taught his older sister in the Sixth form. In my defence, the boys looked quite alike and I must somehow have got away with it because there was no comeback. As head of subject I suppose they thought it was not all that strange that I was telling them about him, and I must somehow have got through it without using his name. But oh the shame when I realised.

kittylester Wed 02-Nov-16 16:41:15

charley I hope soop won't mind my pointing out your comment about her notes being 'in the bowels of the hospital' - quite apt in the circumstances! thlgrin

I hope you can get it sorted Soop. flowers

soop Wed 02-Nov-16 16:39:20

If it is indeed the surgeon, she may well remember being called to my bedside at midnight when I was in agony. I was also reprimanded for cleaning the bathroom, slipping on the wet floor and almost pulling out the taps as I tried to remain upright.

soop Wed 02-Nov-16 16:36:10

Charleyg We believe we know the lady surgeon's name. It was a long time ago. It is her number that we've been trying to contact. Thus far without result. I am close to tears.

soop Wed 02-Nov-16 16:33:39

Thank you, ann I have to confess to having downed a wee dram. I cannot think of any other occasion when I felt totally faffed out and not knowing what to do next.

Charleygirl Wed 02-Nov-16 16:31:38

soop if you can hopefully remember the name of the consultant who operated on you in 2003, perhaps you could write to his secretary? I am not a fan of phone calls because one is easily fobbed off. Your old notes will be in the bowels of the building and not necessarily on a computer.

annsixty Wed 02-Nov-16 16:30:18

Oh how frustrating for you as you said. It is one of those situations where the next move is not at all clear.
I am also concerned that you may not have your surgery.
I know you are philosophical but how much easier life will be if you have it.
As I said about myself up thread life is so hard for many of us.

soop Wed 02-Nov-16 16:09:56

MacSporran Seems to think that the surgery cost several thousand pounds. My late father left us some money in his will. It was this that we used.

soop Wed 02-Nov-16 16:07:07

Please may I let off steam. I'm almost beside myself with frustration. It's a long story so I shall try to stick to the main facts.

In 2003, at a private hospital in Cornwall, I had anterior/posterior ventral suspension surgery and was a patient for six days at great cost to us. We were about to embark on a move to Scotland, and felt that it was worth paying to have the procedure done this way.

I am still awaiting a consultation with a surgeon and his team in Glasgow. The problem having recurred. The surgeon needs to know the facts regarding the surgery in order to decide whether or not my condition can be rectified. I am beginning to sense that further surgery of this nature, on top of other fairly recent procedures, may be out of the question. If so, I shall be thankful for all the assistance I've received during the past 12 months. Grin and bear it.

I contacted the private hospital in Cornwall. There is no record of me having been treated there. We cannot find any evidence in our current files of payment made at that time. The lady at the private hospital has been very helpful. She suggested that I ring the NHS hospital. I've tried contacting the number provided at the hospital to no avail. A few moments ago, I did manage to get transferred to the NHS hospital (which I didn't attend) to be greeted by a recorded message.

Can anyone tell me what to do next?

It's ridiculous. I clearly remember the private room as I attempted to clean the beautiful bathroom after an accident with my bowels.

Thank you for listening to my rantings.

soop Wed 02-Nov-16 15:28:39

ann grin

annsixty Wed 02-Nov-16 15:16:20

I have just scoffed a minibsg of m+m's. My D told mr I would experience a sugar high if I did. I am waiting to start tearing around.

soop Wed 02-Nov-16 14:50:56

ann Your son will benefit from a break of routine and your husband too. It's good that they are busying themselves in a positive way. You sound more upbeat. I like it that you are getting out of the house for some well deserved relaxation. Nothing would please me more than knowing you are less stressed. Us lot care. sunshine

soop Wed 02-Nov-16 14:46:09

kitty Are you wearing your thermal undies? It's my hands and feet that turn blue. The rest of me is a pink, rosy glow.

ann Wow! Our daughter-in-law is also a Nov 5th birthday girl. I was born on the same day (not year) of Roger Federer. I like him a lot.

corner I also like to leave the house spic and span if I'm going away. I love walking into a smart home. I second the plan to leave the bathroom for your dear husband. He'll not wish to upset you further.

Charleyg I had to smile when I read the bit about cats having a favourite place to "chill"...staying with it for a while and then going off to some outlandish hidey-hole. Right now, Rory is fond of creeping behind the computer shelving. I'm guessing it's because it's warm.
Bracken has been into the kitchen. She was helping Rory to woof down his lunch. She's bright. She ate her own first. grin

Thank you for MacS's birthday greetings. He rather likes the fuss he receives on such occasions from "my ladies"...

annsixty Wed 02-Nov-16 14:43:17

Hello all, no I haven't been put off, why would I be when all your advice is so well meant.
I am trying to come to terms with the fact that however much "time off" I get I come back to the same situation and it isn't going to change. However our son is going through a difficult time and has moved in with us for a time. He suffers from anxiety and depression and his partner is bi-polar, not a match made in heaven as you can imagine, and every now and then they need a break from each other. He is not working just now so is able to give me some space. With help/interference from H he is powerwashing the drive and tidying up the garden. I was able to go out for tea yesterday, will go out for coffee tomorrow and a friend is taking me out to a nearby gifty type shop on Saturday and we will have a bite of lunch while out so I do have things to look forward to. We have given our son our car and run it for him so that we get transported when we need it which is a huge bonus.
I truly never thought life would be so very hard at this stage in our lives but I know so well we are not on our own.
