The song that takes you back to your youth.

Hard to pin down a certain record, so many! However the very first one that came to mind, was being played a lot when I was either 16 or 17, Summer In The City ( back of my back gettin'burned so pretty) remember that one? I remember walking through my city one hot Saturday, and it was playing everywhere, all the coffee bars etc. And I noticed boys looking at me ( which I hated) and telling my Mother this, who laughed and said 'you're young, pretty, with long hair and a short skirt!' What do you expect?
I liked talking to boys, and dancing with them, but always hated to be stared at.Anyway, this song brings back memories of hot Summer days and the great feeling of being young and that anything may happen.☀️

I always thought it was 'burnt and gritty'

Heard Whiter Shade Of Pale on the radio a few days ago ( came out in 1963) and sounded as if it came out yesterday, not dated like a lot sound now.So that's well over 50 years ago.

Does anyone remember Yesterday has Gone by Cupids Inspiration. Never hear it anymore. Another much loved one from my youth. We were so spoiled then for good music.

'Whiter shade of pale' can take me right back in time, as can a great number of Motown records: 'It's the same old song' and 'I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)' by the Four Tops were played incessantly by my sister as she was learning to memorize the words. I think it must have been 1965 because I'm pretty sure that's when we got the record player cabinet. Remember those?

Going to another school for a netball match and dancing to 'Please Please Me' by the Beatles in their school hall. They must have been desperate for a team as I had never been picked before. I was 13 in 1963.

Music in the sixties was all so different from what went before and I loved being part of that era which included mini skirts, Habitat furniture etc. It was a great time to be young.

The song which brings tears to my eyes is Jessamine by The Casuals, someone i went out with as a young girl always played this on the jukebox and said it was our song. Sooo many years ago!!!!!

Yes I used to record the top 20 on the radio each week, on a reel to reel tape recorder in the 60's. Then I'd play them back all week till I learned all the words. Do you remember The Singing Nun? I can still sing those words!

Pamela Pamela by Wayne Fontayne. The boys used to sing it to me at school as it was my name. Also anything by The Monkees. We skated to their songs at the ice rink when I was around fifteen.

So many of these mentioned take me back but my own extra special is The Byrds, Mr Tambourine Man, on the back of my boyfriend's motorbike, long blonde hair flowing in the wind (pre compulsory crash helmet days) ...... aaahhhhh :-)
