Our second granddaughter was bien in the anniversary of my Mum's death. I missed her, and still miss her, hugely but now I like to think something of my Mum lives on in our beautiful, madcap, granddaughter.

I have little chats with my Dad all the time.

You are all so very blessed to have had the relationship with your parents that you miss them so much. Look back with enormous gratitude and make the tears happy ones.

D's birthday brings mixed feelings as she was born on the second anniversary of my dear dad's death.
We tried for a long time to have children and I think about dad going to make way for the new generation, which is something my maternal grandmother used to say.

My Mum died on my birthday so I have a reminder of that. When my Dad died I was so upset that even today, 25 yrs, on, I could not tell you the time or the day he died. I could easily look it up but have no need to do so. They are both gone and missed a lot.

Something happened recently that upset me very much and suddenly all I wanted was to tell Mum about it. She died 18 years ago and I think of her and Dad and other family members every day.

Funny things make me cry and not very often.....not a big one for tears. The other day someone on the radio said his mother had always sung to him as a little one. It brought back memories of my dear mum doing the same . When she was dying and very ill I sang to her in return.

I was in floods of tears even after 17 years with the memory.

I promise you that there is a Heaven because Jesus told us so and He did not tell lies ever. There is a purpose behind all this and it will be revealed to us. I know there is a separate thread about life after death. I have no doubts whatsoever.
We shall be reunited.

grannyqueenie me too with the teary eyes. sad I lost my parents when relatively young and it never stops hurting, you just learn to live with it. I was particularly close to my mother and often think how lovely it would be to share everything with her. One day I will. smile

NanKate & mrsmopp it is wonderful to have that blessed assurance!

flowers and blessings to all who mourn - for they shall be comforted. smile

I know that I will see them all again one day because my Granny told me I would - and that was over 60 years ago now . I have lost so many lovely people since then but somehow what she said to me about being happy to die because it meant seeing her father again - still resonates with me - she was a lovely lady and I believed her and find comfort in continuing to do so.

My father died when I was 26, my mother when I was 39. I'm 66 now but it saddens me that there's so much of my life and family that they never got to share and enjoy. I can still be unexpectedly caught out with a teary eye , even after all these years. My garden is somewhere that always reminds me of them both. I too hope I'll see them again one day.

I am now the exact age that my mum was when she passed away, so she has been in my thoughts all day with this in mind. I am deeply saddened that she had multiple health problems and that she was not a happy person despite my and my sisters efforts to please her. Her life was so much harder than mine has been. Her generation lived through the depression, the war, and other hardships that we can only imagine.
But I am a believer and know we will be reunited one day.

I'm sure you will Hilda. I too am looking forward to a party with my dear M an D. I would like another 15 years here until I am 85 and then I hope to be ready for a reunion.

I know many people do not believe in an after life, but I do so that gives me something to look forward too.

Sitting watching Songs of Praise today they had "Great is the Faithfulness". We had this at the funerals of both my parents. I was suddenly overcome with a desire to see my mother and tears began to trickle down my cheeks. I have never cried for her, as her death was a release from the ravages of COPD. Seeing her struggle for breath was horrible. I hope that we will be reunited in spirit one day.

My dear Dad, Bill Williamson, died 28 years ago today. I was with him at this sad time.

He was someone who enjoyed life and passed this onto me, so I have poured myself a glass of Cava, got a few nibbles and toasted him. He would have loved that.smile

How do others remember special people?
