What is the best thing you've bought or acquired this year, and why?

For me, after my knee replacement - I saw a special offer for a blow up jacuzzi and it's been fabulous and really helped me relax and also do exercises in warm water. Just come in from a 'session' - it is cold out there, but I set it for 39C and it cools down to about 35 during the 30 mins- absolutely brilliant.

In fact, it has made me determined to use my savings to buy a proper one next year which can be used year round. Had to cancel travel and new kitchen due to Brexit - but I'll get my jacuzzi, come what may.

Mine has got to have been the Dyson Animal Cordless Cleaner it saves so much time and effort can be taken downstairs and used on the car without daft wiring everywhere I could even go as far to say I enjoy hoovering now.

A shiatsu massage chair, it's fantastic. Not a complete chair, more like a back support thingy you can use when driving a car. I use it on a dining chair rather than soft furnishings. Just switch on and the 'knuckles' move over your back, relaxing knotted muscles, or you can set it to just work in one area. My manicurist (monthly treat smile) recently bought one and the first time I used it in the salon was sheer bliss. So much so I was straight onto Amazon when I got home. grin

I've just bought some walking poles.
I used them for the first time this week in Swaledale and they were amazing, a real help when coming down rough stony paths.
I had begun to lose confidence about walking in tough conditions and feel I've got a new lease of life.

I think it must be the SONOS - its giving us hours of pleasure as we love music and can have it all over the house in really good quality.

Had to look up Sonos Teetime. Interesting.

Do keep them coming - I am off for my second session in the jacuzzi in the meantime ;)

Swanny, what is the brand of your Shiatsu massager, please?

A bright yellow, long-handled shoe horn. Helps to cut out the bending that leaves me woolly legged.

New sofa for conservatory on which I can lay flat. Bliss especially if my back is being a nuisance

My Kindle, and use it at home and at the doctors. I have a sprained ankle and spent time waiting for X ray etc. Lovely to have something to read

I've just bought a new hob same as my old hob and very ordinary but old hob was not working well and this is bliss. Feel very un adventurous.

I've also found Munro American shoes which fit me perfectly(AA fitting) and although they cost a lot they fit my beastly feet. Bliss .

The best money we spent this year has been a lightweight roof for our conservatory to stabilise the temperatures. We have spent more time in there this year than all the time we have lived here. janeainsworth I am hoping someone will take the hint and buy me a couple of Lekki poles for my upcoming birthday. My old ones are about ready to give up the ghost just when I need them most. They take around forty pounds of pressure off your knees coming downhill.

Cushion covers that make me smile each time I see them.

What a good question. smile
I was trying to decide between my iPad and my cordless Dyson (neither of which I actually bought for myself!) when I re-read the question and it asks about this year. This afternoon I bought myself a new laptop from John Lewis and I really hope it will be one of the best things I've bought this year because my current (and admittedly very old) laptop can't cope with Windows 10 - but the winner is: Flights to New Zealand for me and the Wonderful Man to go and visit our daughter and granddaughter next year! I'm sure I really don't need to say why that's the best thing I've bought this year. grin

granjura The massager I bought is Homedics GSM-300H-GB Gel Heat Shiatsu Massage Chair. I've just had a look on Amazon and they say it is currently unavailable. It may have been discontinued as it was on offer when I bought it, however they do do other models.

I wish I had room for a jacuzzi envy A few years ago I stayed in a hotel that had a whirlpool jacuzzi bath - didn't want to get out of it! Only have a shower now as I can't push through my knees anymore to get out of a bath sad

My dental implant which replaced a failed bridge has to be the best ( and biggest) buy this year.

Thanks Swanny will have a look and try to order one nest time we are over in UK.

Wow it was cold out there, 3C but the jacuzzi is under the car port facing the fields and woods, and we have a big woodpile at the side protecting from the East wind. The horses came to have a look, as usual, and 2 foxes walked through the field wondering what was going on.

The manufacturers say it can't be used once weather is below 0C- as it will make the plastic brittle- so won't be long till we have to put it away till next late Spring.
