I have some concerns about very young children, however genuine and spontaneous they may be, getting involved in this sort of political haranguing. I agree with much of what the child says but if it were a young child praising Theresa May, for example for her stance on immigration, I would feel there could be a perception that a child was being used as a propaganda tool.

However, I do think some of the comments here are getting a bit silly now, and also a bit worrying. How one goes from a little girl saying what she thinks to imagining her being viewed as a mini-dominatrix I can't imagine. As luckygirl said, there is loads of quite innocent footage featuring babies and children. In any case, children are seen in public all the time. If some very sick people see a little girl in a dress playing in a playground and find it arousing, does that mean little girls shouldn't wear dresses in public?

Where did the paedophile idea come from? Who has dreamt this up? There are millions of vids out there with children on. The problem of paedophiles is not solved by hiding children doing normal things from the internet, and more than the problem of terrorism is solved by us all staying at home.

willsmadnan It is time that there was a more effective way of dealing with paedophiles..however one of them is not locking up our daughters and keeping them hidden from public view. They are not the problem.

willsmadnan thank you they, and we their parents, had huge fun,and still do. We are a close & joyful family. Being actively committed to certain politics/ campaigns does not automatically make you dull and serious.
We(& they) have made lifelong friends through Amnesty etc. and they have developed strong social consciences. They work in jobs that they hope will improve things for people generally, have lovely families and friends. I do not think it did them any harm at all!

I am pleased to say that all my grandchildren care about the homeless, and want Theresa May to build more houses for the homeless.

My only objection is to the posting of the video on the internet. I think the mother was wrong to do that and nothing will persuade me otherwise.

I would think that the NE is far from fairyland! It is those (me ) living in the more affluent SE that would be better described as living in fairyland.

This parent has made a considered decision about her child. I would be very pleased to have a confident and articulate 5 year old that understood that is was clearly wrong for so many people to be sleeping rough.

What sort of fairyland do you live in DJ, up there in the North East? A film, girls in ads doing gymnastics, are not the same thing as a little girl-- on Youtube -- looking directly into the camera --wagging her finger, like a mini dominatrix. How naive can you get? What the mother says about her daughter is fair enough. She is 5 and of course kids that age see things as black and white. But I still don't agree with posting the video online.

What's wrong with it going viral? Here's a pretty, precocious little six year old girl whose image is going global. Wonder how many paedophiles have downloaded it, and are salivating ...or worse. Hardly responsible parenting I would have thought. Still, as long as Mummy gets her political views over.....

What was the mother supposed to do, then? Say to the girl, no you can't do that, but you can sleep overnight in a sleeping bag in your own doorway, just to see what it's like!

Being slightly more serious, I'd be allowing her to do anything she wanted to do.
Her dad has just had a second operation for a brain tumour. He is having chemo at home, and is having fits. They are putting off having radiotherapy at the moment, to give as long a gap between the first and the next.
If telling the government off for allowing homeless people to sleep in doorways takes her mind off it for a few minutes, good.
