Does your car have a name?

My sat nav is called Sean. I chose him as he has a lovely Irish voice. I will be copying his accent soon.

I don't drive but my dad had a car that he used to call Olga-no idea why!It would cause amusement when we had visitors and my dad would announce that he was just popping out to take Olga to bed (which meant to put "her" away in the garage)!

Our previous car was caled "Izzy" - named by a friend who borrowed her occasionally. (Our cars are mostly female.) Current car is a Skoda Fabia, called (unoriginally) "Fabby". Last year we bought a small potted Christmas tree (now outside) and this is called "Eric". (We live near Morecambe ). I have no idea why I decided that the tree needed a name, but it's thriving so far...

I call mine 'Much Ado' as the numberplate starts with 'AD0' as in 'zero'. It looks like an 'O', though!

I used mnemonics to remember car registrations, DS thought I would not be able to find one for his car, but I did. His MXT became " my xylophone therapy "

I do name my car but only when I have had a less than serious one by that I mean a fun one like the red 2 CV I once had -Poppy of course and now I have a Plae Blue Suzuki Alto (Play) called Mildred. She is Mildred because she is like a very proper older lady- sedate, serene- doesn't rush about (can't) is very nicely turned out but not flashy, dosent spend lots of money (£20 a year tax and £20 a month petrol)- pillar of the community. Not usually but my fathers csr when i was litle had the reg SRB so it was of course called Sabrina! I do have mnemonics for remembering the reg no though.

Our last car was Petunia the Pinto. The current one, again a Pinto is Philomena, no idea why.

Beloved calls or the Friday the piece of an*t car because we have had a couple of minor problems with it. But there again, it is 10 years old and has done 120000 miles.

I try to give my car names that suit them. My last car was 'The Green Goddess' , speaks for itself and I loved that car and havn't replaced her yet. I once had an ancient maroon volvo, that I named 'ole ftang ftang biscuit barrel' (came from a Monty Python Sketch). It seemed to suit the car - no idea why.

Blasted machine, it's a Punto, and is called a piece of sh*t.

My car is called Grizie, a play on the REG numbers and is a girl. Previous cars have also been named. I speak to her as well "morning Grizzie" etc and apologise when I have committed some awful driving fait pas.

Only had one named car - my first J reg (1971) second-hand Mini. I was 18 in 1982 and got it with the birthday money Mum and Dad gave me, think it was £450!!! It was orange with a black roof and my Dad affectionately called it the Buzzbomb, no idea why. He was a sales rep and always had a new car but he was forever nicking mine to go out in when he wasn't working, I didn't mind and he used to put petrol in it for me. Happy Days.

EEJit that made me laugh. One of my friends had a Punto and it was always known as the B#llockin Punto. Not sure that she liked hers much!

Struggling to come up with a mnemonic or any way to remember my new reg no.

We have two cars, one is called the dog kennel because we use it to walk the dogs. The other is called the "limmo" because it's got leather seats and is a nice drive.

Ninathenana, our Maxi was british racing green, and was like a tank to drive, no power steering, and yes, I talk to Mitsi, tell her she is lovely and a good girl. She has to behave next week as she is going in for her service and MOT. Fingers crossed.

My first car in the 1990s was an F reg Renault 19 that didn't like cold mornings and would splutter and "kangaroo hop" down the road for the first mile or so - she was called Petula, her full name being Petulant Petula.
Next I inherited (he didn't pass away, just upgraded his car!) my father-in-laws H reg Astra. There were two versions of the engine - one had 1cc less but more torque and was much nippier and therefore a higher insurance group. This was the engine that Malcom had. He was not only called Malcolm - he had a whole persona - middle aged, still lived with his parents and wore tank tops, but had a secret wild side!
Next I properly inherited my father-in-laws upgraded car which was a Fiat Punto - and once again he surprised me as he had gone for the speedier 16 valve version. I imagined myself like the girl in the Punto ad, throwing the car around corners and driving down steps to try and wake her passenger when I was nipping around in Ruby Tuesday - she was a beautiful metallic red which sometimes had pinkish hints in the sun! Her reg ended in UPU which appealed to my naughty side and it started with X (for a kiss) !
In 2007 I eventually got my very own, ordered to my spec new car - an A Class. It's automatic, has lots of extra features, effortless to drive, but has zero personality - AND NO NAME.

We have a Zoe Electric Car for everyday journeys so of course she is always known as Zoe. WE kept our old SAAB estate car for going on holidays- and like tigger we call it the "Limmo".

I almost always buy red cars (always peugeots)the first was Old Red Witch (registration was ORW), have had ruby tuesday, scarlett and latest little 108 is Merlot. Husband just bought red car which is named Rioja lol, crazy but just a bit of harmless fun

Plum the Brum was a much-loved Peugeot. A lovely burgundy colour. No names , really, since then- at least none I could post on GN!

We had a Ronnie Renault and now we have huffy as the number plate is HFY. ( the other letters on the plate are BF!)?

I had a Japanese direct import Emina. It was an 8 seater and took us everywhere including on several European driving holidays complete with children, tents, tons of gear and was named Freddie Mercury. He was mercury in colour but when he was zipping down a French motorway he sang like a bird released. I loved him. He had curtains! I drove him for years. My work colleagues laughed at him and when the children grew up they were embarrassed by him, but my whole extended family made use of his size and convenience when they needed help. I've never had a car before or since that I developed such an attachment to.

I call my car Bella, because shes Italian and beautiful!

not really named cars until 7 years ago when DH & I bought our 1st brand new car (£2000 scrappage scheme for 15 year old Fiesta) which was a Ford Fiesta, colour Morello so that became Cherry. I part-exchanged it 4 years ago (5 door upgrade from 3 door, more practical) which is very dark blue which is just called Blue after a dog my daughter had.

I named my 1st Laptop Fred, don't know why as it was an Acer!!!! Replacement Laptop is a Dell hence it is Delboy!!!

Our run around car is called Poppy, because she has a burnt orange interior.
