No, no care package sorted as yet, haven`t asked about taking Mia in, everyone seems to think it would be a useless exercise. What looked to be a promising occurrence this week has tonight been dashed by the doctor, now they`re going to be limiting his intake again, because his stomach started to get bigger again. Tomorrow we`re going to put some TV time in for him, but at £30 for 4 days it`s a bit pricey.

Oh Bella I do feel for you! You must know the drill so well by now but I bet your heart sinks every time. Is it a UTI or in the blood? I hope your local A&E recognise that you know your way around this scenario. Sometimes, as they have to go through all the procedures, it can seem very slow as you know what the problem is.
Is he on IV anti-b's?
We found it brilliant the time DH could come home even although he had another week of IV drugs to go. A nursing team came out from the hospital 3 times a day to administer a bolus (like a slow injection into the cannula)
It freed up a bed, meant he was infinitely more comfortable and reduced the risk of contracting any other infections from being in hospital.
Fingers crossed this one is banged on the head and I trust you are tucked up in bed now and get a decent night's sleep.

Grazie mille, Daphne and others for birthday wishes. An unusual one, as I've just got in from A&E. After a call to 111 I was advised to call an ambulance for DH who had a probable further bout of sepsis. As it was, I drove him there, but we got fast tracked and he was seen immediately. He had various tests and was started on I.V antibiotics and I left him at 9. Sadly this is his 4th episode in 10 months but I feel I've left him in good hands. They were run off their feet in A&E but were helpful and good humoured despite DH complaining loudly and bitterly that he wanted to go home.
I called on DD1 on my way back as she was going to give me card and pressies at our planned meal tonight. I had lovely cards and messages and feel lucky. That poor lady DB described must be leading a miserable life but I'm sure she was grateful to have had the little chat with you.

An interesting little conversation at MK station this morning. I was early for my train so popped into the coffee "booth/shop" on the platform where I was served by a very sweet lady perhaps Filipino(?)
I made some trite remark about being a bit OCD about being early and said how DH leaves things until the last minute. (Another story for another day)
Anyway she started to say in very broken English how husbands can be horrible and you love them at first but living with them gets harder. How hers moans all day long at the slightest thing but if she has anything resembling a problem he complains about her, etc at least that was roughly the gist of it. She is clearly very lonely and unhappy, she has a baby daughter but no family nearby, no friends as she is at work, bad-tempered husband etc then she started crying! I felt so sorry for her but it was neither the time nor the place for marriage counselling, I just wanted to show some sympathy and "sisterly solidarity".
Eventually I made her smile by suggesting Mumsnet, where I said she would find many other women moaning about impossible partners and ended up by saying she had 3 choices -leave (clearly out of the question), have it out with him (I suspect also unlikely) or try to build a small circle of friends with whom she can have a chat and feel appreciated. I ended by saying that if he was cruel to her of course she must not put up with it, but if he was just a miserable git then that was about normal (!) and welcome to the club of wives of miserable gits. I do apologise to all loving husbands and partners including my own for the slur on your lovely personalities, but it did raise a smile from the poor girl!
It made me realise the incredible loneliness some immigrants (especially women) can feel, far from the support of their family circle and often isolated because their language skills are weak and in their culture, of course the man rules the roost.
Perhaps I have a sympathetic face!!

Finished chores early and sitting down with a sherry before dinner (ignoring the ironing...if I can't see it, it's not there )

Tomorrow we'll be celebrating twenty eight years of marriage. At this time twenty eight years ago, I was in a right "faff"...worried about am I doing the right thing blah, blah. Well, YES is the answer. John has been a kind and caring husband. He says that he too couldn't be happier.
Below is a photo of us cutting the cake. Tomorrow, we'll have a lunchtime treat. I shall add another photo later in the day.

I deposited poor DH at MK Planned Care Unit and took myself off on the train to Birmingham this morning to meet up with a teaching colleague of over 10 years ago who now lives about 9 miles from Malvern. We had been promising to do this in C card after C card and decided it would be a good idea to check out the new shopping mall at New Street station, Grand Central.
Dominated by John Lewis but with some orher rather nice shops Joules, Foyles, Moleskine and such like) I was in DaphneBroon heaven. BTW Nice to see my friend too!! Her elder daughter is a successful actress having worked with the RSC at Stratford and in London and I understand we may be seeing her on our AZTV screens in the new year.
Time for another Birmingham meet up please Such easy access from the trains (escalators from the platform) light, airy, friendly not overcrowded - you lucky Brummies!
Train home at 2 , picked up car and collected DH from MKH . Now relaxing with a cheeky scone fom the freezer and catching up on your news. DH is still coughing for Britain but feeling much less wretched than yesterday.
