Charley Jackson and Cooper are finally recovered from the bug that kept them at home all last week. And my poor daughter succumbed too and we were cowards and did not visit as we are away next week with my eldest daughter and her family .

We didn't go swimming yesterday as I am still struggling with this stupid sinus infection but we did got to the café at the gym for cake and soft play. Jackson apparently dressed himself this morning for a trip to the shops. I have high hopes for an improvement in his sartorial choices !!

Sam is well thank you and hugely looking forward to a week in the forest next week. My daughter is taking her springer spaniel pup Holly too so I'm hoping for some good photographs.

Just time to catch up before I head out. As a present for my recent big birthday my daughters have arranged a night out in a favourite restaurant near us just for the 3 of us. It will be lovely and a chance to catch up without little ones and husbands.

DH has had a mammoth task this afternoon. A new hub and new phones with call screening has meant we (he) had to transfer all the names and numbers of people we will accept calls from from the old phones to the new. Only having disconnected the old phones we can't bring up the menu so he has had to print off a whole list of contacts frm the computer which I have amended/added to and it is taking him all afternoon to do this! Rather him than me!
I bet Mr Microsoft/green energy/solar panels/accidental injury/PPI still manages to get through (but probably none of our friends) )

I had a bit of a scare with my DH last week. We He had a very bad night with Kitty's bug and in the morning he couldn't sit up in bed without help and his voice was slurred.
He eventually got to the bathroom on his own and I discovered that he had taken the whole 24hour dose of Imodium in between 2am and 7am! He slept most of the day.
Although I did keep checking that his face wasn't lopsided and he was in a natural sleep.

Since we returned home, I've been glued to the computer. As the sun continues to shine, I shall log off until tomorrow and wish every one of you a peaceful and pleasant evening. Especially those of you with poorly husbands.

Thank you, bags. We didn't have fish and chips today. Our lunch was a home-made leek and Mull of Kintyre cheese flan with home-baked bread and chutneys and side salad. Apple, apricot and almond tart (warm) with cream. Ten out of ten. Perfection on a plate. and the sun is still shining.

Bellanonna What more can we say. As with your husband and number's and DaphneB's I want to cast a spell that will restore them back to the rudest of health. I had no idea that a television was an extra to be paid for in hospital, number. Aren't we so fortunate to have the NHS? The doctors and nurses deserve a huge thank you. More patients, fewer beds, and still the system continues to operate to the best of it's ability.

Tara is going to the vet on Monday for her annual check up so I will bring her basket downstairs today so that it is lying around for a couple of nights. I am dreading Monday, she screams in the car on the way to the vet- one would think she was murdered each time she went but they are lovely to her.

There was only a short spell f rain and the sun is now out. It is not very warm though, I think autumn has arrived here.

I think your point Bellanonnna of never getting quite back to where they were is a very true one. There is nothing better for health than staying out of hospital! I think of it like shaking up a medicine bottle- the contents can take a long time to settle.
DH tends to have his hospital incarcerations in the first half of the year (!) and I feel that one complication sometimes just triggers another.
You are now back to the visiting/phone calls to all the family/washing the pyjamas/no actual time to yourself routine and my heart goes out to you. How good that you were there to spot the signs and take action. And why oh why, is it always a Friday night???
Wishing everybody a peaceful weekend (apart from soop, Rory, bracken and macsporran who will be enjoying a 24 hour knees up on Kintyre.)

Yes db my heart really does sink and I felt quite sick yesterday. Realised by evening thst I'd only had cup of tea and toast at breakfast and nothing else. I think routine just goes into hibernation. He wasn't eating so I didn't think about food. I'm glad I took him myself as I felt more in control than waiting for an ambulance. I was impressed that, once in there, thing moved very quickly. Yes apparently it's sepsis either from a chest infection or from a UTI and he's being treated with I.V broad spectrum antibiotic. Here we go again, and as you say, each time they seem to stay a few steps behind once they've recovered. Hope your own DH is now settled.
number what a pain about the food intake. I'm sure there's a lot going on but perhaps you could ask the ward manager if a visit from Mia could be arranged. No harm in asking. If it turns out to be a useless exercise, well at least you tried. We've never used the TV they offer as it's extortionate but I can see it would be good to have it fir a spell as he must get thoroughly fed up. All the best to you.

DH uses his iPad whenever he is in hospital, numberplease. Before that he used t get a card which I think worked out at about £5 a day. Is that system not in use in your hospital.
Can you get a season ticket for parking as presumably you won't be able to use DH''s blue badge while he is an inpatient?

number, it's so expensive for TV in certain hospitals, now. You'll remember my friend's husband was in Edinburgh Royal for a very long time and the cost of a TV card was extortionate even then, which was about 6 years ago. The high cost of parking at the hospital was an added worry for the family, too. Do you have to have to pay when you visit David?
I'm not always up-to-date with 'Soop's thread', and you and I are in touch anyway, but I just wanted to say that the warmth of the comments here can only be a wonderful comfort for you just now.
