I think we may be barred from the kitchen, last night DD1and I got back here about midnight after SIL3's birthday bash in ubercool Spitalfiends Market .
DH was not up to going and fond as he is of SIL would have hated the noise, the crush, the awful journeys there and back and basically the City on a Saturday night, he was left in charge. I believe he went off to bed at 10 and while he would have tipped Grace into the garden, she is a cunning old girl and frequently just does a circuit of the picnic table and no real "business" before whining to come back in ("it's dark, and cold and I'm a good dog blah, blah, blah") Even with the bedroom door open I doubt f he would have heard her as she doesn't bark to go out, just looks stressed and gives a little whimper.
You can see where this is going, only it's worse. When we got back there had been an "accident" of gigantic proportions near the kitchen /patio door and fortunately on a machine washable turtle mat runner, but worse was that she had lain down on about the only bit of hard shiny floor without a runner and was not able to get her back legs up., because her feet kept sliding away. She was trembling, whimpering, shaking with I think fear, maybe pain so I locked my arms under her tummy and heaved her up and she was able to walk, very stiffly and limp go out while I set to to clearing up and getting some air in as it was pungent. Thank god she hadn't been in the sitting room or hall and done it on the carpet.
Poor dog, I felt so sorry for her but it was also a warning of what may be to come
She is normally a very well-behaved oet - may we stay?
