Still bleating on about my kitchen bin. I went to Homebase but the bin costing £104 was too tall and thin and the other was too small. I will go to Dunelm Mill tomorrow, hoping that the lift has been repaired. Homebase has been taken over by an Australian company.

It is very dull here now- I must cook my supper and get ready to watch Strictly. With luck Tara will deign to arrive home before I want to go to bed. She loves the new chair I bought for my bedroom- a good job I bought a cheap throw for it.

Chilly here. Log fire lit. Cats snuggled up on their blanket in the utility room. Rory ate his meal and sampled Brackens. He does the same thing every night. Bracken gets a larger going to bed, freshly cooked chicken supper, to compensate. We've that many throws (for the purpose of protecting furniture) that I've lost count. In fact, I cannot recall where it is that I've tidied one or two away. I expect they are on the top shelf of the airing cupboard.

Had a lovely day crafting . Put everything away from our break. That's the only benefit with having a house this tidy - no housework !!

NoCharley my daughter had taken her springer puppy and she was the one interested in the pheasants . Sam was very well behaved. Spoilt rotten when we went to the retreat for coffee , he was happy to help out total strangers with their leftovers !

Oldgoat it was lots of fun and it was marvellous to be in the hot tub with a clear starry sky above. It's a favourite place for us.

Corner yes it was Thetford Forest. Spot on. It's an area we love.

Jackson and Cooper popped in to say hello whilst their Mum and Dad had an argument . It wasn't shouting and such, just a disagreement which put them both in a bad mood . So I'm glad they didn't stay because I wanted to put my two penny worth in but you would have been proud of me as I kept my nose out .

number. I was so impressed with a hospice my dear friend was in. Everyone so kind to patients and to visitors. I will ask for donations to that hospice instead of flowers when I go. I'm glad David will be able to see Mia. Hope you feel better in yourself now that he's settled and as others have suggested, do try and rest a bit more.
We had my birthday meal tonight as last week DH was in hospital. We all enjoyed it.

number, what a relief for you to know that David is in a quiet and caring environment. I know that hospices also are about family, so they probably won't let you go away hungry - you will need feeding up. Isn't it lovely that pets are allowed, or even encouraged. ((((hugs))))

BTW, I got rid of my kitchen bin, because the wheelie bins are right beside my back door and I just need to open the door and reach out to dispose of recyclables in one and the rest in the other. Veg waste goes in a compost container on the worktop to be taken to the compost heap later.

My dgd has had a great time today but my ears are still hurting! The bowling ? alley was very noisy even without all the cheering and shouting and three excitable children singing in the back of the car with the music loud was too! ? It was all worth it though, and tomorrow she can open more gifts and have a lovely day out with her daddy.

Back home after a lovely break, weather was kind to us and the chalet was so clean and cosy. Came very recommend by friends. Had some lovely walks and days out and both dogs had a lovely time. I am told things have "been difficult" whilst we were away. Not what DD2 says, she says everything was fine, so no real worries. Have to get her to the dentist, although she now says she doesn't like the one she goes to any more, will just have to see.
Seems much colder now we are home, will have to think about getting winter clothes out and washing all the summer ones up. Seems to have got more autumnal while we were away and garden pots and baskets now look sad and need emptying. Our big apple tree is ready for picking so DH will have a go tomorrow. They are apples you can eat or cook and we usually have so many friends and neighbours get bags full. Our little Swiss neighbour always writes a note and thanks us she enjoys them so,much.

oldgoat I forgot to mention that when you plan your holiday next year, double check on times and frequency of ferries. We do know that one ferry only runs twice each week. If you do visit Kintyre, we'll meet and have a face- to-face blether...possibly in the Royal in Campbeltown.
