Was very rude to dh earlier...

We went out for lunch, took my car since his was in the garage, had to pay to park.
I had a purse full of coins to pay with, which I offered.
No, he insisted on paying with his phone because 'I've got the app - I'm already registered.'

So I stood about while he spent 3 times longer faffing with his phone than it would have taken to stick a few coins in.
Came back 2 1/2 hours later, within paid-for time - or so we thought - to find a traffic warden writing out a ticket.
'But I paid!' said dh, and showed the bloke proof on his screen.
Er...

Well, he WAS registered, only unfortunately he had registered the number plate of HIS car, which was in the garage being fixed, not the number plate of mine.
So we got a ticket. £40 or more, I really don't want to know.

He thinks he will get out of it by an explanatory letter, with proof that his own car was in the garage at the time.
We shall see.
I won't repeat what I said on the way home, though TBH it could have been a lot ruder - all because he insisted on ** apping when coins would not only have been quicker, but saved all this faff.
I expect I'll laugh about it later...

I shouldn't laugh, but couldn't help it! Reassured to know that I'm not the only one married to the male version of Mary Poppins - Practically Perfect In Every Way smile

Not a parking ticket moment, but yesterday I was making a tuna fish pie for supper, and couldn't find my pastry brush. It is a very old Addis one, with a row of straight, flat bristles. The new silicone one just doesn't cut the mustard, and I don't like the rounded type.I ( gave him a lecture) told him where it should be, and he got uppity. ?He often finds 'special' places for things. Anyway, after supper, he disappeared into the kitchen and asked me to, come here. Lo and behold, there it was, underneath something else. I hadn't lifted anything up blush, so had to apologise, reluctantly.

Got a parking ticket yesterday. Left the car for all of 5 minutes in a disabled bay forgetting to display my blue badge. The warden was still there and he verified that my BB was valid and put that on his paperwork. So hopefully I will be forgiven for a senior moment of forgetfulness or it will cost £35 <<duh>>

mancgirl Fri 23-Sept-16 10:31:47

a row was meant to be struck through. Trying to be clever - didn't worksmile

mancgirl Fri 23-Sept-16 10:29:51

Nfkdumpling. Oh the secret delight when they do something wrong!. I call my OH Peter perfect because he thinks he is. Trouble is in -a row- an exchange of words I can never remember an example of his "mistakes" to give him!

We all do daft things of course, but what gets my goat with my DH is the 'I can handle this, I'm a man and you're a silly woman' attitude, dismissing any (usually correct) suggestions of mine. My favourite one is when we were running to catch a train and he insisted on walking up the platform further to find a seat; I jumped in the first carriage and as the train departed saw him left on the platform. Fortunately for him it was a local journey and we met up eventually at the other end. I do refrain from the 'I told you so'
temptation, but I think we have an implicit understanding that he's an idiot sometimes.....

Nonnie Fri 23-Sept-16 10:18:26

DH does this sort of thing all the time and then just assumes it is normal. It never seems to be quite his fault though grin

radicalnan Fri 23-Sept-16 10:12:52

Bless him...........it must be the male equivalent of putting a yellow duster in with the best shirts.................

chrisw Fri 23-Sept-16 10:11:29

Thank you for starting my morning with a good laugh. It does help!

Barmyoldbat Fri 23-Sept-16 10:06:43

Yes complain, it's worth a try

annsixty Fri 23-Sept-16 09:46:52

?

harrigran Fri 23-Sept-16 09:16:58

I put a very large keyring on the bunch of house keys because DH was prone to putting them in his pocket and going off with them. This keyring is a wooden wine bottle so when the keys are in his trouser pocket he could look pleased to see me grin

Witzend Fri 23-Sept-16 09:11:48

NFkdumpling, that was exactly how I felt!

MInd you I was VERY restrained the last time he did anything similar.
We were off to a housewarming at dd's new house. I had driven there several times - over an hour from home - he had been only once.
He was driving and as we approached a complicated junction nearby, I told him he needed a particular lane, or we'd be off on the ring road.

No, he airily insisted that knew the way, and this WAS the right lane.

So I bit my lip, we headed off down the wrong lane ring road, with no exits anywhere near dd's house for a long way, and spent half an hour longer than necessary in rush hour traffic, when my correct lane would have had us there in under 10 minutes.
And I didn't once say Told you so! or even sit there tutting!

This is not mine but my friend's H yesterday. She very kindly takes me out every Thursday for coffee and we call at Simply Food on the way back. It is always rushed as I can't leave my H for long. Yesterday she rang me to say she was late as she couldn't find her car keys or even the spare set. Eventually I walked round to her house and had a coffee which was quite an effort as it was the furthest I had walked since my op. However I needed to get out for an hour. When I got home she rang to say her H had returned home with her keys in his pocket and as they go away at the weekend he had moved both spare sets to "a safe place". She then very kindly came and took me shopping.
I got the impression he wouldn't be getting his cocoa last night.

Im68Now Fri 23-Sept-16 07:48:13

Wait until they get into Internet Grocery Shopping confused.

They give him a 2 hour time slot and guess who as to wait in.

I hope I'm not off topic, but I do feel better.

NfkDumpling Thu 22-Sept-16 22:02:14

I love it when my DH does stuff like this! It gives me a few credits on the Stupid Idiot list. He never, ever, ever used to make a mistake or do a silly. Always somehow managed a get out excuse which frequently seemed to transfer the fault to me. But nowadays he's getting slower and more forgetful and becoming normal. Well, my normal anyway.

annodomini Thu 22-Sept-16 20:57:18

The only problem with not having an OH is that I have only myself to blame!

Nelliemoser Thu 22-Sept-16 20:01:48

That is so like a man. The sort of thing my OH would do. He once dropped me off at our local station for a train to Liverpool Airport and went back to park for over three hours in a local shopping mecca.

He did not realise it was time limited but as we took my car I got the bill for his overstay. He paid!

He always moans about the local shopping carpark costs which compared with most other towns are very reasonable. He does not realise you cannot carry a weeks shopping off to the back streets where he has found a space.

DaphneBroon Thu 22-Sept-16 19:17:28

obieone that is so wise!!
As they say "Don't sweat the small stuff,"

janeainsworth Thu 22-Sept-16 19:09:16

Witzend I did that a few months ago, ie paid to park the wrong car and got a ticket.
However I had had a text to say that the parking was going to run out in 15 mins so I took a screenshot of the text & sent it in via email with an appeal.
They let me off on that occasion.

gillybob Thu 22-Sept-16 18:54:04

Don't get me even started with the evil that is Parking Eye!!! When my dearest grandma was dying in hospital the evil bar stewards logged my car for being one digit wrong in the reg number. Then they logged me for staying 3 minutes ( yes THREE minutes) over the 24 hours I had paid for . I did get the fines overturned ( eventually) on appeal but the stress it caused....... Really pushed me to breaking point .

Alima Thu 22-Sept-16 18:47:09

For dangled read fangled!

Alima Thu 22-Sept-16 18:46:30

I hope his ears have recovered now. Maddening these new dangled ways of getting money out of us. I stopped going to town by train as you had to phone up and use a debit card to pay 50p for parking, ridiculous. Do cheer your DH up and tell him what my DH did once. He phoned up the electricity supplier to give the meter reading. Unfortunately he gave them the gas meter reading. Our monthly payments went haywire until we managed to sort it out.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 22-Sept-16 18:38:35

That is so unfair! (OP) He had paid to park a car, and he was registered. Definitely complain.

obieone Thu 22-Sept-16 18:34:30

I have got to the point where the minor stuff in life, I just shrug, even if it involves money.
I cant be doing with a row or whatever. My DH and yours, sound like they mean well
