It wouldn't work pollyperkins my DH is such an optimist that even if I were 99, bankrupt and couldn't talk or walk and I said "I wish I had done XYZ" he would say "Whats stopping you?"

Maybe he just thinks it's silly if he doesn't believe in a 'next life' , as I don't. It would drive me mad too! Better to say 'I wish I'd done xyz' , I regret I never got round to....' or even 'if I had my time again I'd do....'

I hate loose things round my waist and always like my trouser belt to be tight. I have come to the conclusion that I was a horse in a previous life <G> I would like to meet my maker walking on my own two feet in the next life but at the moment that looks doubtful but we shall see.

......anyway in my next life I will use contraception.

but that would mean I wouldn't have my three gorgeous grandchildren, so maybe I wouldn't.

So many things I wanted to do (ski, be world class show jumper, concert violinist, breed Cameo cats etc). As Wiccan believe that I will be able to do whatever I wish when I pass over to the Summerlands, but when I do come back to this plane, hope I will achieve all my dreams. Would also like to be organised, clean, tidy and filthy rich!!! Well, we can dream, can't we?

I consider myself to be wholly responsible for my current life Wobbybits. (well with the exception of one or two health issues). Things may have been very different if I hadn't have got myself pregnant at 17 and been forced to take any job just to make a living. I was a grammar school girl and had done fairly well at school but circumstances meant that I had not choice. It is very hard to drag yourself back up once you are on that slippery slope and I truly admire anyone who can do it.

I say "I would love to do/see that!" a lot and I think it drives my husband mad. It highlights the difference between us in that I love doing new things and he doesn't. I still find the world is full of wonder and frankly he doesn't get excited about anything. I often think about what I would do if we won the lottery. I've always had an active imagination, but I married a man who doesn't. He has other wonderful qualities though.

So gilly, maybe it's because you're emphasising your different ways of thinking about life.

I don't think my life (with him) is disappointing at all Ana I am just a realist and I know there are certain things I will never get to do/see (short of a minor miracle or a lottery win). Whereas he, ever the optimist thinks that the lucky break is just around the corner.

His man-strops are something to behold and I really struggle to keep a straight face.

I think we all have repeated phrases that drive our other halves to want to through their slippers at us. DH will sometimes say 'Why' when he tells me something, to save him having to listen to me say it yet again, while in his case every time he says 'possibly' rather than answer a question with a definite yes or no, I grit my teeth and count to 10.

Possibly he's worried that you feel your present life (i.e. with him) is a bit disappointing.
