Seems I've said the same thing as wobbly.

MrBags thinks you should be able to ignore/get past that alternative email thingy because what if you didn't have an email account already and wanted to open a gmail one?

Most set ups want to you supply an alternative email addy in case you forget your password, but that should come after the initial setup.

Have you tried yahoo mail? Another option, perhaps?

Can you open a Hotmail account?

I think you only need another email address to set up the recovery options in Gmail, this can be skipped or use you mobile phone number instead.

Who is your main email account with, if it is BT you can set up several sub accounts within the main one that will be private.

Deleting an email doesn't really delete it.

If her DH does a search for something, the confirmation email could well come up.

Emails are there forever.

Do you and dh share your email account.

What about if you go ahead and create your new email account.

If you wait on the confirmation arriving into your present account you could then forward it to your new email address and then delete it from your current email account.

BUT Could someone confirm this would work in relation to dh's laptop.

Also, you'd need to be doing it when he is out so that he wouldn't go onto laptop before you got it deleted.

I am definitely not a techi.

Couldn't you keep him away from his laptop until you've organized the new account and deleted the confirmation e-mail? It will be more or less instantaneous, I'd have thought.

I wish to create a private email address that my OH cannot access. This is because I need to obtain some information about a problem related to his illness that I do not want to discuss with his GP or specialist nurse.

I have tried to create a gmail account but they will not let me do so without giving my current email address, to which they then send a confirmation email with details of how to access the account. Since we have the one email address here, my OH will pick it up on his laptop.

So round in circles I go!

Any techies out there who can suggest a solution?
