Thank you everyone, and Pogs? don`t be silly, you didn`t know.
What is annoying is that (hope this isn`t TMI) he`d been sick and hadn`t eaten anything for a week before being admitted to hospital. On Tuesday of last week, after 2 days of him being ill, being sick, really terrible stomach pain, and slight bleeding from his back passage, also difficulty getting his breath, I dialled 111. The person I spoke to said that from my replies to his questions he needed to see a GP within the hour. There weren`t any appointments available, so we had to go and sit and wait. When we saw the doctor, he listened to his chest, said his breathing was perfectly fine, examined his stomach and said nothing wrong there, and said there was nothing out of place in his back passage. I asked why he was feeling so bad then, and he said he`d probably got a bit of a bug. 5 days later he was admitted through A&E seriously ill! I asked at the hospital why his GP hadn`t spotted anything wrong, and was informed that GPs are only trained up to a certain level!
He still isn`t at all well, but does look a little better than when he was admitted. The main pain is when the contents of his bowel (sorry!) come up through the tube down his nose.
Once again, thank you all, and DaphneB and Tegan, hopefully one day we`ll meet up again xx
