Am I the only person who didn't know this?

I pretty much struggle to get stretchy bra type top on even when I haven't had a sauna Tegan. Have you tried stepping into it and pulling it up? When I pull it on over my head it all rolls up and it is so difficult to sort out.

Always done it that way thought it was the normal way to do it

I've done it too but only when my costume is wet.. it makes sense.

I do it in dry cossie too Tanith if you sides sweep far enough nothing gets wet neither hands nor cossie

I agree with Jings. Perhaps something wrong with my anatomy! I often wondered how that athlete did it in the London marathon. I didn't know it was common practice.

There was a thread similar to this a little while ago. It seems we are divided into those who can pee straight and those who can't. The conclusion was that childbirth and episiotomies have a lot to answer for.

I'm not convinced. I think it may take a bit of practice.

A poster on this forum once said to wee (I don't like 'pee', it's rude) standing up, you stand with your legs apart and lean back slightly so your lower part points slightly forward. I went to a corner of the garden and tried, and it went all down my legs.

And don't start me on shewees. They are alright if you can do it on a slow dribble, but give it some welly, and it floods.

GN is divided between those of us supple lithe things who can squat/hover an inch above a public loo seat, and those who can't . I'm the former.

I expect we are also the ones who can pee in our cozzies by the side-swipe manouvre.

I am another who never thought of side swiping and must give it a try next time. I usually go to the loo before getting into the cossie and then after my lesson (to get rid of all the water I swallowed !)

Well Elegran I ve had three pregnancies a miscarriage and been cut and sewn but I can still pee with a sides weep Lol and I can hover so you might have a point a riverbank

I suppose it depends whether you're right or left handed, because you still need to wipe, don't you?

I cannot swim so I don't have thr problem, but i would have thought pulling it to the side would be a no brainer

In answer to the OP; no, you're not the only one and it would never have occurred to me, either.

Thankfully I rarely need to pee when in a wet cozzie. Will have a go next time...

elaine It only occurred to me a few years ago that there was an easier way of doing things. I, like you, had wriggled out and back into a wet swimsuit before that.

Clearly this is the easiest way for adult women and certainly my swimming teacher drummed into all of us that we must pee and blow our noses before getting into the school pool. (We had to shower first as well, of course.) However, the pulling aside technique does not work with a desperate and shivering four-year-old in knee-length togs.

I wouldn't buy another swimsuit. It's tankinis for me too. I live on the beach for three weeks in South Goa every February and find tankinis much more practical and comfortable.

I only worked the side swipe out a few years ago...and I live in Spain, where we do a lot of swimming and wearing of bathing suits. I said on another thread that I am a technological numpty - it would appear i am also not the brightest spark where going to the loo is concerned - I had to look up the shewee thing, never heard of it before! Luckily i am still in the squat and hover camp, I cant see myself getting on with one of those!

My mum often used to pee standing up. I tried it without much success. I think she was unusual doing this - back in the 50s.
