The start of the slippery slope?

It was warm yesterday and I was tired, but sitting watching the Tour of Britain on the TV with a cup of tea the inevitable happened. I suddenly realised there was a warm wet feeling - and I woke up to find warm tea soaking my clothes and an upside down mug on my chest sad. DH, of course, found it very funny, but maybe this is the start of a slippery slope...?

Oh I am SO PLEASED to read all these posts ! It happens to me too so now I sport
a matching tea towel around my front...
It matches the quilted table mats !

I couldn't fall asleep sitting up if my life depended on it but spread out on a couch is another story! grin

Oh dear what a depressing thread. I have never dozed off in a chair in my life!, but there again if I have a coffee or whatever in the afternoon or morning I have it at the kitchen table. I guess I don't JUST sit, never watch tele so that wouldn't happen either. Is all this something to look forward to? shock

Katek Wed 07-Sept-16 16:37:31

Oh I'm not asleep Ilrina.....food just slides off my cutlery with gay abandon and heads floorwards, interrupted in its travels only by the aforementioned bosom. Think smallest dgs and I have really bonded over our mutual ability to make messes when eating.

Badenkate Wed 07-Sept-16 16:41:38

You're absolutely right Ilrina, this is a depressing thread. I feel really ashamed of myself. Fancy sitting down in a comfy chair with a cup of tea to watch sport. And then to cap it all, falling asleep! I shall immediately go and whitestone my front step, scrub the kitchen floor and plant potatoes.
On the other hand, I may well listen to the second episode of the serial on catch-up radio, sitting in a nice comfy chair, and doing some cross-stitch. Now, what would I most enjoy wink? Gosh, I'm definitely on the downward path smile

Crossover pinnies are still sold on market stalls here in rural France. I'm seriously thinking of getting one, sad or what

Badenkate Wed 07-Sept-16 17:05:21

I'm not sure a crossover pinnie is going to solve katek's crumb problem Christine. There's still an access point.

numberplease Wed 07-Sept-16 17:05:59

Badenkate, I did that a few weeks ago, 3 times in one day! Twice with tea, once with cold water. My excuse is a few nights of hardly any sleep, but it aint a pleasant feeling, waking up wet!

Badenkate Wed 07-Sept-16 17:08:46

No, and a bit of a surprise numberplease, but as radicalnan pointed out, at least you hadn't drunk it first wink!

Maggiemay.

If I were you, I would wear old clothes to look after grandchildren.
I always do, as they inevitably get dirty.

I have a one year old g.son and no way would I be wearing anything quite as posh as a Boden dress just so he could mess it up.
I would find it quite nerve wracking. What if the stains wouldn't come out.
Ruined.

Maybe one of those Tommee Tippee bibs with the trough at the bottom might help......can you still buy them?

Katek Wed 07-Sept-16 17:21:31

For me, that is....not dgs.

morethan2 Wed 07-Sept-16 17:24:57

Your ok for the time being Badenkate. Its when you nod off and there's a warm wet feeling soaking through your skirt/ trousers and it's not tea! that you need to start worrying. I'm a napper and I have the same trouble as the rest of you. So out comes an old 'pinny' or tea towel when eating.

Auntieflo Wed 07-Sept-16 18:02:58

I bought DH just the thing from The Ideal Home show. He makes such a mess with a choc ice, ? ( I hope that's a choc ice cream! ) that when I saw them I had to buy them.

Badenkate Wed 07-Sept-16 18:06:33

Auntieflo grin.Glad they're the large size!

Always had a problem with tomatoes attacking white (usually) tops no matter how careful I am. If I'm going out I don't get dressed up before going out as I will spill grin

Went out for DD, her OH & DGS the other week, delicious sub sandwich with gooey meatball filling - DD asked if it was tasty as I was going to take a bite, yes I replied, then looked at my blouse - I was wearing it !!!! thank goodness I was wearing a navy blouse so it didn't show grin

My fairly large "chest" is a magnet for food, my excuse I can't get near enough to lean over the plate blush

I can fall asleep if I sit very comfortably on settee (not laying down) but never have anything in my hand thank goodness wink

Maggiemaybe Wed 07-Sept-16 20:29:00

Ah, but, Victoria08, DGS2 had nothing to do with any of my mishaps, it was all just me and my usual klutziness grin My Boden is always bargain basement - I got an extra 10% off the clearance section, which already had 70% off. And I gave up saving things for best a long time ago. I like to enjoy them while I've got the chance smile

Deedaa Wed 07-Sept-16 21:36:28

My friend always puts a big bib on her DH. He has Huntingdon's and can only just manage to feed himself. I often look at it and think "Hm! I could really do with one of those"

Anya Wed 07-Sept-16 21:46:43

Deedaa i currently wear one as I can't trust my dodgy arms not to deposit my food all down my front blush

Jalima Wed 07-Sept-16 22:11:25

DH asked why I ever wear plain light coloured tops because they inevitably end up with something down them (usually before I even get through the front door on my way out).

hulahoop Wed 07-Sept-16 22:21:24

Noodles are my problem always get at least one down me !

annodomini Wed 07-Sept-16 22:33:35

If I'm eating alone - which I usually am - I sometimes remember to put a napkin or even a tea towel over my frontage. Anything with tomato sauce is my downfall.

Maggiemaybe Wed 07-Sept-16 22:49:14

I love that word frontage grin Wasn't there a Mrs Frontage in Terry Wogan's Janet and John?

Coolgran65 Wed 07-Sept-16 22:55:36

Last week dh and I went out for the day with friends which would include a nice lunch. I had in the car a clean top .....just in case...
(Soup, curry sauce and gravy have a mind of their own).

Also a change of footwear.

Ilrina Wed 07-Sept-16 23:16:06

nice bit of sarcasm there Badenkate!
