How Long Have You Been On Gransnet?

Since the beginning. Living abroad it is now amazing what I know about my native country, information I have gained from being om Gransnet.I expect there are some of you who know a bit more about Germany from my posts.

It has been very positive. I'm not on any other Forum and my latest gem was the Reverse Washing for hair. Since the day I read it and tried it my hair has looked so much better.

Yes, since almost the beginning. I feel I know many of the long-term posters though I've only met 5 of you. Some days i post quite a bit and other days hardly at all.

There's so many more people on these days that it's opened up the forum more.

I saw a bit about GN in the press when it first started and joined in June 2011 but have never been to any meet-ups and probably won't. I feel apprehensive about that for some reason. Somehow I don't want RL to intrude into my GN world.

Anyone else feel like that or am I just an oddity?

I have been here from the beginning and it was one of the best decisions I made.
I have laughed and cried over some of the postings and highlights have been the meet ups.
I have had more support on here than from some friends and family especially when it came to my illness. One local Gran kept in touch by text when I was too poorly to be on the computer and several others have sent PMs, thanks to all who kept me sane

Also have to say about great meetups in Norwich and a newly blossoming friendship in RL with a GN who has moved to same area as me...thankyou GN

Only a few weeks . I discovered this wonderful site when trawling the Internet looking for advice and decided to give it a go. I was overwhelmed with the number of supportive, knowledgeable and sincere posts which helped me through a difficult time . Although it is still ongoing I feel stronger knowing that so many amazing people are willing to post a few lines of advice and support.

I didn't join until Oct. 2013. I belong to a few forums and GN is by far the busiest and most interesting.I read Mumsnet too, but find it confusing, almost too many members.
I don't belong to Facebook.

Gagagran I was apprehensive initially, but it was great to meet so many warm hearted Gransnetters. I thought I was mad flying into a strange city, staying in an AirB&B, and getting to grips with the transport in order to meet women I'd only met online. Yet through this, I feel I've made some good friendships. GN was smaller then though, and I think that helped. Why not give it a go!

I initially followed on Twitter so didn't post at first. Joined round the time Greatnan went missing and got sucked in by the search for her. RIP.

I have got a lot out of being on this forum: info, support and laughs. Have enjoyed reading the contributions of the wide variety of posters, all with such distinct personalities. Tend to read, but not get involved in the robust political threads.... because I'm a wimp.

Some members have been so kind by PM when I have had a few bad patches. You know who you are. Thank you.

Since the very beginning! I was a winner of the first competition GN held, aNintendo DS.

I've been on since Dec 15, relatively new compared to some. I mainly read others threads but do contribute occasionally. I find it very interesting to see so many different viewpoints and so much support given. I love the humorous threads, especially the GN Olympics!

Gosh, I feel I am the only newbie here. I joined a couple of days ago while searching online for a birthday cake recipe for my granddaughter's second birthday. Found it too! I've not been a grandma long, but after waiting for a long time, my DIL now has a two year old and ten month old twins. After staying with her to help out, I now understand that childcare is a young woman's game!

Welcome chilledlady! Enjoy! Remember, we were all newbies once! And everyone's contributions are of value too. Agree that childcare is a young person's game. DH and I staggering from looking after 2 grandsons for the last 5 weeks!

Judthe pud - that was why I joined too. I'd met Greatnan many times on other forums, but when she went missing found that GN was where most of the news was. RIP as you say.

Sept.2013. Love reading contributions. Think I my be one of the older GNers at 80. Wish you had been around when my GCs were little, so much advice.
Enjoy them, in no time they will be grown up, mine 25, 23,and 23. A boastful Grandma, they are delightful!

I had to check my profile but according to that I first registered in May 2011 .

I just peeped in I think and entered some competitions but was still working full time so it wasn't really until last year I began posting and popping in most days.

I really enjoy the forum and it's very interesting hearing about other people's lives. I think the genuine support that's offered is priceless.

The only downside for me is the sometimes harsh commentary on contentious issues . It's not my style at all but it's easy enough to avoid those threads or posters.

I joined in May 2011 after seeing an article in the press.
I,too,remember the anxiety, then sadness, about GreatNan.

I also remember Frank and his dog, and his exploits at Bums and Tums!

Since October 2012. DDIL suggested it as a bit of a joke when she was expecting my DGS1, so I had a look, liked what I saw, and have been hopelessly hooked ever since I'm surprised to see I've been here longer than some of you GN legends who I feel must have been around from day 1.

Welcome, Chilledlady! I remember my first post got a bit of a frosty reception (probably from one of you lot!), so I love the way shysal makes the effort to welcome all newbies on the dedicated thread.

I joined about 41/2 years ago when i had a problem and needed someone to talk to. On the whole people were very helpful and I've been here ever since.

Not a year yet, but intend to stick round.

I've only just joined. The name put me off. It sounds ancient, it should be called NansNet!

I am a relative newbie having only joined earlier this year. Can't remember how I discovered GN but have found it so so helpful. Having been told by 2 of my daughters that I am not a supportive mother because I can't race about from our home in Somerset to theirs in SE London and Cumbria to help with their children because of having cancer-related fatigue. Reading what you all say has really helped my confidence - not to forget the hilarious bits like the GN olympics, that was wonderful. Thank you all!

Gosh!I had to look at my profile to see how long I've been on G.N.turns out to be Dec. 2011. Time has flown! I had one grandchild then and now have two. The eldest is six going on twenty-five. Loved every minute,especially the funny stuff which I take pleasure in reading out to my D.H.

About March 2012 when DD anounced she was pregnant I lurked until 27/9/12 when DGS1 was born. I wasn't sure I should be posting if I was not a real granny.

This was my first "proper grannys post."

"Today I've been is full" So I have started What I did Today, as I have something to be a granny bore with.

Today I became a gran for real. DD had my 1st GC 8 days after due date. Several days of twinges and a bad night.
DD rang me at 12:15 today.Just seen midwife at clinic, 3cm and waiting for the taxi to hospital. 5pm I had a phone call, baby had arrived at at 3:30 pm. That is 3 to 10cm in 3hrs! Noah Alexander *. 6lb 11ozs. Forceps as baby was tiring but amazingly quick DD and SIL surprised by the speed. DD tired and sore but says she is totally in love. I am visiting tomorrow 60 miles away. What a day
