Why am I being blamed for my son's divorce?

Sounds nothing like autism I would throw that one out with the bath water

How old is the grandson and is he living with you? why is he being involved in his mums troubles? Definitely block abusive calls ....if this anger has come from nowhere then she could be mentally disturbed but if she's been difficult for 23 years it sounds like your son has been too tolerant for probably 20 years

I do not know why you are being blamed - there are many possibilities.

Do you think that anything you have said or done might have contributed to the breakdown? If not, then treat these messages as the rantings of an angry woman - block them and ignore them.

Careful loopylou, "soontobe" might be after you wink

She's trying to find someone to blame and lash out at and you're a 'soft' target because she can't behave in that way towards for example her parents (she needs their agreement and support) or friends who would tell her where to go in no uncertain terms CardiGranma.
Block /ignore her, it speaks far louder than words. Your son needs your support not his soontobe ex wife.

These online quizzes are really not something to be taken seriously, you know. If they were there would be no need for years of training for psychiatrists or psychologists.
Unless you have played an incredibly active and intrusive part in their lives I cannot see how two adults can "blame" you for the break up of their marriage.
Keep your distance, say nowt!

Personally I would never get involved in anything between husband and wife, but simply give quiet support to your son without voicing any opinion. I would certainly block calls etc. as there is no benefit from this sort of communication.

Keep a quiet distance.

I can't see that being autistic or not being autistic has anything much to do with this.

And would you say that you have behaved badly at all in all of this?

What kind of relationship did you have before.

Unfair to call this sort of behaviour 'autistic'. She certainly sounds most unwell though. Best avoided if at all possible.

More likely she has a personality disorder Cardigran . If I were in your position I would have no contact with her either by text, phone , letter or in person . She sounds a bit deranged to be calling you such vile names and it could escalate to violence . If it continues I would be tempted to report it to the police just so it is made a note of in case it gets out of hand in any way. I hope you have some support from other family members , take care xx

First of all, thank you for all the advice about sleeping. I am now sleeping much better and wanted to thank you for that.

However, I am faced with a new problem. My son has filed for divorce from his wife of 23 years before he simply cannot bear any more of her not putting in a fair share on the farm he runs. He regularly gets up at 5.00am - 7.00am in the morning to look after the sheep, before then going to work in a local post office for several hours and then comes back home and is instantly asked "What's for dinner?" from her despite the fact she only got up at midday.

She has never liked me from the start, despite the fact that she used to work as a lab technician in my grandson's school, and is now ringing me up at random intervals blaming me for the divorce and even sent me a seven page letter accusing me of being in league with my son, and calling me a "f***ing c**t" of a mother in law. It has got so bad that I have asked my grandson to block her calls (by not answering them when her name appears on my phone) or sending them straight to the answering machine.

My grandson tells me that by answering questions in a online quiz about her behaviour, that she may be borderline autistic and I am wondering if this may be the reason she is taking it out on me?
