One Favourite piece of Music?

It's impossible to pick just one piece!

A pp has just reminded me about Barber's Adagio. It used to come on Classic FM when dd was a baby. I used to play it to send her to sleep didn't work, alas.

I don't think anyone's mentioned any jazz yet, so I'm going to go for Don't Know Why by Norah Jones, Feelin' Good by Nina Simone and So What by Miles Davis.

I veer from one style of music to another. One day it's jazz, one day it's Welsh hymns, another it's classical or disco!

I agree with Mr Blue Sky, though. Definitely a feel good tune, that.

I was ironing this morning with Classic FM on and they played the second movement of Rachmaninov's second symphony, which I am familiar with but hadn't heard for a while. Not one I would even class as a favourite but it made every hair I had stand on end it was so moving. It has never had that effect on me before - there are only a few pieces of music that do. Peculiar!

I heard that piece on Classic FM a few times and it always brings tears to my eyes. I've got it bookmarked on my favourites.
It was used for a romantic ballad Full Moon, and Empty Arms, Frank Sinatra, but I like the piano and orchestra much more.
