What would you change about your husband or partner if you could "turn back time"?

Apologies to Cher!

I am happy with the Bodach, but I'd have liked it if he was a wee bit more interested in cooking, and food in general.

He is also visually impaired, in that he suffers from dirt blindness. He sees no reason why the lavatory needs to be cleaned more than once every three days.

I wish i could change his body ! no, not like that, he is gorgeous but he is in so much pain every day although if you met him you would never know, he was a scaffolder and every joint on his right side (including his hip replacement) aches and most of his left side but his smile still lights up the room

I always said I could not live with, let alone marry, anyone who was untidy or smoked. Well, DH doesn't smoke.

I wish he hadn’t joined the army.
Seriously injured in a bombing late 70s.

Thingmajig Tue 25-Oct-16 13:45:32

I wouldn't change much about mine, but I do wish he'd find some clubs to join here to get him out more. He moved over from Denmark when he retired and then we moved to the coast but he won't go and join in anywhere. It's not a language problem as his English is perfect.

SunnySusie Mine does that! Hangs about in the corner of the kichen "grazing" instead of putting out the food he wants first.
His Aspergers. sad it has really spoilt our relationship. Rather like living with a robot.

Lona I have just told DH what you said. He was not amused grin

Stansgran Tue 25-Oct-16 10:51:34

Turning off lights and hanging up his Goretex( the Velcro keeps snagging me)

Lona Tue 25-Oct-16 10:23:09

BBbevan I would be so tempted to go round the house and open every single door, and then sit down and feign ignorance and see what happens! thlgrin

BBbevan Tue 25-Oct-16 09:59:40

I would give him the ability to shut doors. Back door, patio door, kitchen cupboards, larder, bathroom, wardrobes. You can track his progress around the house. The going down the garden leaving the back door open is annoying, but the worst is leaving the kitchen cupboard doors open. A few cracks on the head there .

I would banish his dyslexia and have him able to read fluently. Whenever he reads me anything out loud he stumbles over any word longer than five letters, and unfamiliar words are either missed out or misread. Sometimes it's like trying to translate a foreign language. I love him though, and don't take over, I let him try. Often I end up reading it myself, later.

Nothing really ( his annoying habits have grown with age, so turning back time wouldn't help.much.) I can put up.with his foibles as.I am.sure I can be irritating and we still love each other.

Wouldn't change a thing except a bit more chatty in company but he's still the sexiest man in the room

Pricilla is an ad for an African juju person I think!

His anxiety - it has ruled our lives.

That we can sleep together. He snores so loud, even if I have ear plugs in, it's horrible even the two dogs sleep with me !! Never did this when we first met 10 years ago, perhaps he stayed awake all night, until I fell for his charms. omg I can hear him now and I'm in next room.

Sadly, just would have enjoyed the early times together (he widowed, me divorced) but NEVER would have moved in with him - which I did 20 years ago. His daughters have been horrible to me yet endlessly demand and expect much of me - and my children (whose father remarried twice) have lost a 'home base'. Now I am too old to leave the 'bed I have made for myself' and find myself yearning for independence but could never leave him (he would crumble and the world would blame me) but I find him and his family and friends demanding and my family and friends excluded from my life.
Oh, the silly things we do for 'love', even in our 40's.
67 and wishing I were free.......................

miep Sun 24-Jul-16 14:26:18

I would not have allowed my husband's family to divorce me for non-procreation; would never have become even slightly involved with #2, the fat pig wife-beater; would have realised that I could not change #3 into a decent human being; would have killed youngest daughter to prevent her breaking up the marriage.

Regrets? I've had a few, about #s 1 & 4, nut it was out of my hands. Now I'm sticking to my cats!

Darling ex DH could and can talk continuously for over 2 hours, usually on a range of favourite ranty subjects. I put him on speaker phone when we speak these days, and get on with other things. I am aware if I am listening, my son and DiL or step son and wife are getting a free evening.

Judthepud2 Sat 23-Jul-16 21:01:55

His total inability to put anything away! He is the most untidy person I know. But I'd rather have him around than not. He can fix anything. Really! After 44 years of marriage I'd be lost without him.

Humbertbear Sat 23-Jul-16 18:38:54

I'd just like him to want to have a bit more fun and be a bit more spontaneous and not always find fault with suggested plans.

Neversaydie Sat 23-Jul-16 12:10:56

Wearing best clothes "round the house'Have even tried writing best on the labels .Have to resort to hanging in spare room wardobe and bringing out when he's 'allowed' to wear them (I wouldn't mind but he'sitting at a desk a lot of the time and his jumpers go all bobbly .He also spills things and doesnt notice )
He has become more anxious and risk averse as we've got older I sometimes wish he were more adventurous

MaryXYX Sat 23-Jul-16 10:33:28

Gononsuch: Nice idea but no. The official grounds was that I had been cross dressing. Back then I was the husband and hadn't reached the point of deciding I'm really a woman.
