Not sure if this is too trivial a topic but I'm really intrigued by sweet-tasting spuds. Cooked one earlier (not for me, I'm low-carbing
and had a sliver and it was disgusting!
I can buy a perfectly decent spud that actually tastes of spud, not sugar, in the local Greengrocers but if I go to a particular well-known local supermarket (I'm looking at you, Co-Op) my spuds always taste revolting?
Is it something to do with carbs turning to sugar? Is it frost getting in? (although I doubt the latter is the case, it being 30c here).
Is it just me?
"Old fashioned" expressions that young people have never heard.
Good Morning Tuesday 4th August 2026

! A lot of the supermarket potatoes I've had this year have been very disappointing quality. I like to buy them from the local fruit and veg market when I can get there. They are better quality and you mostly know where they've come from - the supermarkets don't think it's important to tell you these things; they're just potatoes!
