Ebay - mind over matter?

For mailing stuff sold on internet, try myHermes which is good value. You find a local shop which handles myHermes , create an account.

Weigh, add enough for packaging, fill in details and pay online, then print the special labels. Our local shop is 5 mins walk away and I find it - simples! Watch size though, if you sell very big stuff (like the coachbuilt pram I'm currently advertising for the 3rd time ) it may not handle that. Valerie

I love searching for things I want on eBay - had some lovely bargains & sourced hard to find items,, I always have a ceiling price I am prepared to pay. My DD sells on eBay & local car boots - if I've anything to sell I give it to her - she's the expert!!

I buy on e-bay but thought that I would make money in retirement by selling there and kept unworn clothes and other items ready to sell. When it came to it I just could not be bothered with all the effort of taking pictures, uploading details and worst of all packing up and taking to the post office so it all went to charity shops.

Been away for a while, so haven't been able to buy on eBay, getting withdrawal symptoms. Have a list of things to buy later this week, so that they arrive after we get home.

I'm not that keen on eBay although have used it.
I prefer to use Gumtree. It's free and has worked well and quickly for me.
Someone always wants something - you'd be surprised.

My D lives in W Sussex and they have a very local site, just a few square miles and she regularly buys and sells on it. It is collect only and you can pick it up the same day and of course pay or get paid instantly which takes a lot of stress out of it.

rubylady the tangle tease is supposed to be good, has sold a lot but I bought one for the dogs and didn't like it. Perhaps I should dig it out and eBay it!

In New Zealand, we have our own popular auction site called Trade Me. It includes all the usual stuff, such as second- or third- hand furniture, children's clothes, women's clothes and shoes, garden furniture, baby equipment such as cots and high chairs, cars, motorbikes and bicycles. Also, pretty much every estate agent advertises there too. Of course, that doesn't mean that anyone who wants to hit Ebay can't do it, but the postage on Trade Me is a lot less and a lot faster. Sometimes you can just buy locally and go and collect.

Not good though when I have been up all night and think that keep buying stuff is a good idea! Tangle teaser? Does my long, curly, thick haired son really need it? Oh well, it's bought now. Along with a bird bath for the little birdies and a couple of books. Lovely.

I will have to get round to selling some stuff though, I have a box full of things, or get it to the auction near me. That should be fun too.

I remember a few years ago a journalist doing a piece about eBay when it was fairly new called "money for old rope"- he sold a piece of old rope on it! I'm with the eBay lovers too, my OH was having a clear old and was going to chuck out an old book on wild flowers - it had some lovely coloured plates in it, I put it on eBay and got £28 for it, probably worth a lot more, but I was well pleased, all goes to boost my PayPal balance.

I love eBay also. I don't know what's best, bidding in an auction or watching the bids rise when you are selling. Either way it is all good fun and everything has been positive so far

There is always someone who wants something someone else thinks is useless. I've bought and sold all sorts of things on ebay. I love it.
