Do you think this is mental?

We have always just ate when we are hungry, not at any set time. I made steak and mash last night at 12 midnight, it was delicious. But then I normally keep late hours just now. But no, whatever, whenever. As long as everyone gets fed in the day then that's ok.

I have never been to Dawn's crack though or Sparrow's fart (I bet you don't get large portions there, can you imagine? A sparrow's fart is hardly worth noticing.) grin

In the days when I used to make apple pies (yum) occasionally I used to feel like a slice of apple pie and custard for lunch, but thought I should always have something savoury first - thus probably doubling the calories.

DH has an inbuilt clock.
However, I haven't started cooking dinner yet (well, a light supper) so he will just have to wait a bit longer tonight because I'm on here grin

My habits are determined by the time of year. In summer I get up stupidly early and all my mealtimes are way earlier than most people's. My last meal (I can't call it dinner) is at about 5 pm.
I do try to do things later as the days shorten, only for the bloody nonsense of moving time back in October to thwart me. It takes me a fortnight to get used to that disruption twice a year.

There is an unheard bell rings in our house at 1.00. Lunch time.

annsixty you made H lol smile

We don't have set meal times in our house. Sometimes H will make himself lunch and I'll do mine an hour or two later.

Just read Daddima's post to DH and he has spluttered his coffee all over the Sunday Times ?

Ooh, just about to discuss my eating habits when I read properly. Had some strawberries once (couldn't face them for years) no, not going there....... grin

I had a pork pie at Dawn's crack many years ago. I had been sleeping on the floor of a borrowed flat en route to Ramsgate. confused Going back to mealtimes, we're very flexible in this house.

shock

annsixty Sun 17-Jul-16 14:13:14

I think Dawn's Crack is in the same chain of restaurants as Sparrow's Fart where I eat my breakfast,

merlotgran Sun 17-Jul-16 13:50:10

I'm shock that you eat at establishment called, Dawn's Crack!

Still......if they do a good portion of Chicken Fried Rice...

Charleygirl Sun 17-Jul-16 13:43:04

I had breakfast today at 1.30pm because I was not hungry until then. I try not to eat too late at night because I would have problems sleeping but I eat what I want, when I want. I have had a bowl of cereal for supper at times because that is what I fancied. It maybe rather obvious that I now live on my own!

WilmaKnickersfit Sun 17-Jul-16 13:36:12

Now that I'm at home on my own during the day, I just eat when and what I want. What you mean Daddima does cross my mind though, but nobody will know. grin

thatbags Sun 17-Jul-16 13:33:53

It is made easier by the fact that I live with two food weirdos who don't fit in with conventional eating patterns wink

thatbags Sun 17-Jul-16 13:31:50

I'm not. I just eat when I'm hungry. Sometimes I have lunch at eleven o'clock, sometimes between two and three in the afternoon. I've just eaten a 'lunch' of a date slice. This was after three breakfasts. Next time I'm hungry I'll eat the sausages and macaroni cheese left over from Friday.

Daddima Sun 17-Jul-16 13:22:41

So, I had a lovely portion of pasta with chicken in the fridge. I was very hungry, but couldn't bring myself to eat it before " lunch time" at 12 noon. Mental, or what?.
I do remember scoffing left over chicken fried rice at Dawn's crack many moons ago, but it's made me think, how tied are we to the perceived meal times?
