I knew that DH had a strange foible......

We had a mutually satisfactory his/hers tea/coffee mug/cup early morning/breakfast/mid-morning/afternoon system, until two family members arrived for a long term stay. They just don't get it....

Well, I have a cup for my morning coffee which I don't use any other time of day. The rest of the day I drink tea which has to be in a china mug, or a cup which is white inside. I can't drink tea which is in a cup which is coloured inside! Other than that I'm not fussy. Friends have actually bought mugs specially for me to drink out of at their houses!

sighned it and inside and on the back are his drawings of people from different cultures. I love my morning wake up coffee in it. It was sold to help raise funding for Not on Our Watch, the charity which he and other actors started to help underprivaleged people in other countries, especially Darfur in Sudan.

We do have some China mugs which were given to us by a dear friend-I use the one with cherries and DH uses the ones with plums-get it?

My very favourite mug for morning tea broke and I can't find another one like it, so don't feel rosesarered

Am feeling quite left out with all these tales of favourite mugs/forks/teaspoons.Although I do have some favourite slippers ( which sounds suitably Gran like.)

I have 3 Emma Bridgewater mugs with different patterns which are used in a set order. Autistic/ADHD GS1 asked me what number mug I was using for my tea and, when I told him it was number one, he said that it sounded perfectly sensible to him!

Dow we thought we were the only ones ! Our kids think we are mad but always ask which mugs they are allowed to use when they visit. Always bone china. Special flowery ones in morning , mine must have blue flowers on the inside as well as out .DH has red flowers on outside. Through the day it's spotty ones for me and barrel shaped ones for him.

Bone china all the time. China mug for first cuppa of the day then small china cup for milky coffee with breakfast and in the evening. China mug for mid morning coffee and mid afternoon cuppa. When I was working and going out on field work with a picnic I always took a bone china mug with my flask, the flask just sat nicely into the mug. I had a china mug at the office (along with a small tea pot and cafetiere). Must keep up standards. I had a favourite teaspoon I took to the office, I once left it there in the kitchen and went in on a non-working day to retrieve it.

Ah ladies..... But do you just dunk a tea bag in the cup/mug or use a teapot? Even if I'm on my own, I use a small t.pot and always s a bigger one for hubby and me! Tea definitely tastes better!

Glad it's not only me I have one of the big Denby cups for my coffee in bed, then a bone china mug my son bought me for breakfast tea.

The rest of the day I use one a of a set of 4 Van Gogh bone china I treated myself too.
OH has 4 white chunky mugs he uses, we would never dare use each others mugs

If we have visitors its a whole new ball game as other mugs have to brought out!

Oh Nellie moser-you don't qualify for the "turnover club" cos you have to have been born in the Potteries. You used to be able to get a certificate from the Sent'nel too.

DH and I watched the pottery prog and it made me cry. It was so twee nothing like I remember growing up with at all.
A friend bought us tickets to the Wedgwood museum recently. Saw the Wedgwood collection, hadn't realised how large it is but then visited factory and saw folks at work. It was so clean and fresh-nothing like when my poor old parents slaved away there. . .

We have a shelf each, my DH only drinks coffee and I only drink tea. We use any mug, but I do like to drink my afternoon tea in a china mug, Russian Earl Grey, tastes special in china mug (I think)

Oh yes, 1 of the IKEA ones for the tea in bed designated by DH, bone china for breakfast coffee, Simon's Cat for mid morning coffee and bone china for tea in the afternoon, then all's right with the world

Well it's not only me then! I prefer tea in China mugs - don't mind about coffee mugs. But we have to have matching or complementary mugs ie a similar style but different colours! If DH brings my morning tea in a big earthenware mug I say nothing as I wouldn't like to sound ungrateful but inwardly sigh. Normally I make morning tea so there's no problem. Some mugs are deemed only suitable for evening hot chocolate. Also cutlery has to match. Set in my ways? Not me!

I have to have my own mug because if anyone make coffee in it I can't drink tea out of it until it has been through the dishwasher. I hate coffee. I don't like delicate handles because they are difficult to hold with arthritis. Other than that I am not bothered.

Thanks to DH, we have to buy our mugs in twos. They don't have to be the same pattern or the same shape, e.g. 2 mugs from Ireland are different pics and shape, just both from Ireland. Certain mugs have to be bought in threes so we have one for a guest. I cheated last year in France and bought 6 identical mugs. ?

Oh, it's so nice to hear that I'm not the only crazy one! In fact, it sounds as though none of us are crazy - we just have strong preferences.

I love my bone china mugs, and have several 'favourites' depending on the mood I'm in.
I also have the 'posh' china - a precious set left by my dear late mum, who was always very particular about having the table set properly. That comes out on very special occasions only, although I sometimes have tea in one of the beautiful cups just for a treat.

Teapots are my obsession - I have twenty-six, and I use them all (not all at once!)

At home has to be china for tea and " long"coffee , hate earthenware mugs - but use small French cups (tend to be earthenware) when drinking expresso coffee.
As we live in France all the local cafes serve expresso coffee in this type of cup.

Only drink green tea - smaller china mug in morning, larger one in the afternoon and yes, I prefer two particular mugs and husband has his preference!

We have a motley collection and DH and I will drink out of anything (except a mug with a Lowry print on that DH avoids as' its gloomy'!I have three small mugsthat I insist DH uses if I want only a small cup of tea (usually because I'm going out and I'm in a hurry)
We often buy mugs as souvenirs of visits to exhibitions or museums .It's a nice reminder ,though I sometimes wonder how the artist concerned would feel about having a master work consigned to a mug
