What very articulate pets we have around our kitchen, I'm really impressed
I'm hoping everything went well for ann although I don't suppose we'll hear until she gets home. Let's hope too that she gets some serious help then.
I had to smile this morning, walking with dgd to have coffee with my friends, she saw two older women chatting outside a shop. "Do you know them Nana?"
"No Savannah, I don't know everyone that has white hair!"

DaphneB The wee one looks in tip top health. He also looks a lot like his Papa. May I also say, the dog is a beauty.

TriciaF I'm relieved that the stray dogs have been reunited with their owners. If ever I see a dog wandering alone I feel that I'm duty bound to summon help. I came across a lovely old dog in Campbeltown some time ago. It was using three legs. I assumed that he had been hit by a car. It was outside Woolworths. Anyway, lots of folk gathered around the dog. A man flagged down a police car. The dog was the centre of attraction and appeared to be in his element. Just as the policeman was thinking of taking the dog to the nearby vet, an elderly gentleman came through the door of Woolies. The dog hopped over to him and we all heaved a sigh of relief. The man told us that the dog had lost the use of his leg ages ago. He was such a good dog that he often sat outside a shop and patiently waited for his master. Off they went. Loud cheers all round.

Kiwi of course you are invited. You are probably fed rubbish food which is why you stray further afield for richer pickings. You would like the food that I am given, I love it. The vet prescribed it for me about 9 years ago because I had a dermatological condition on my face. I will share it with you- it is not wet food so is always fresh. Your new friend Tara.

The dog looks typically french, Daphne. Similar to Bill (who is our neighbour's dog, comes to us every day for the day.)
Another dog crisis this am - woke to find a beautiful husky and 3 puppies wandering around our ground floor. Our bc looking very worried. Bill arrived and wanted to fight the adult, a male.
To cut a long story short, we eventually found the owners who came to collect them. Involved nearly the whole village.
What a relief - strays are a big problem here, and there's a complicated and expensive procedure to go through if they land on your doorstep and no-one claims them.

My cat (Kiwi) is feeling rather put out that there is a Petsnet and he isn't included. It's his own fault - he only turns up for food and then often sniffs it and disappears. I think he may have another home but daren't go away unless we organise the next door neighbour.

My friend has a Rhodesian Ridgeback who has to be sedated before she will even get in the car. The amount has to be exactly right - too much and she passes out and then there is no chance of getting her in the car. Too little and there's no chance of getting her in the car. The vet has been known to examine her in the back of my friend's car!

I love the dog, as well as the two boys!

soop I do exactly the same with Tara- these intelligent cats know exactly what we are talking about. If I ask Tara if it is bedtime, she sits at the bottom of the staircase waiting for me. MacSporran knows Rory very well.

I did not realise that it was so soon- you have waited an age to have it done. Do you expect to be discharged the next day? Such a pity I do not live closer to feed the two beauties.

Daphne poor Grace I do hope that she was given a treat when arriving home for being such a good girl. The vet should know by now that her limbs should be covered. The vet is well protected when examining Tara because she would also remove his hand given half a chance.

DaphneB I totally sympathise with Grace. My lady bits will go through a right rummaging a week today. Bah! I'm already looking forward to returning home and thinking..."never again"...I'm far too fragile. The moment I get home I shall treat myself to a decent G&T and a high calorie treat for supper. Happy thoughts.

annsixty Us lot are with you in spirit.

Wel we are back from the annual,check up and booster jab at the vets. My carefully constructed set of steps (2 1/2 pallets) to help Grace into the car was treated with total disdain but assorted treats in the boot encouraged her to have a go at getting the front half in with just a wee shove in the rear. There is a raised area at the vets which if you back right up to it, means a dog can just step out of the boot and then it is a reasonably shallow step down so getting out and in there was OK.
However, I don't think we want to do that again. A bit of indelicate poking around the stomach area and lady bits (Soop might sympathise ) nearly lost the vet her hand (I did suggest a muzzle ....) And a bit of manipulation of the haunches and back "wrists" caused yelping and squealing. Arthritis plus I imagine the sort of problems elderly human ex athletes suffer from. The jab was the easiest bit!
Anyway all over for another year!! I didn't enjoy it much either so wrapping myself round a cup of coffee

Finished ironing duties. Back home with a pot of coffee. Eager to catch up with you lot.

TriciaF Ha! Perching on a bedpan with a newly installed hip joint isn't much fun. One has a tendency to wibble wobble. I was relieved to discover that the wee was in the pan. Could be proper embarrassing.
Poor Bill...in the ditch. Bless him. It would have been a right royal struggle to rescue a person from such a position. I do recall getting out of our car (umpteen years ago) and falling into a ditch. MacSporran was amused to see me way down the grassy bank. I was fitter (in those days) and clambered out with a on my face.

NanaandGrampy I wouldn't mind betting that many a respectful wardrobe has been mistaken for something other than housing of garments. I do know of another gentleman who peed in the wardrobe, (and it wasn't MacSporran).

anno I shall be under an anaesthetic by this time next week. A consultant will be delving into my rear end to check the prolapse of longstanding. The prolapse is both vaginal and rectal. (Blame it on three hefty boy babies.) I expect to be slightly sore thereafter. Two repairs have failed. This is the final looksee. If nothing more can be done, I shall carry on regardless and make the best of things. It is NOT a life threatening condition. It is a constant bothersome condition that can cause embarrassment on a daily basis.

Charleyg MacSporran was spelling out what was in readiness for Rory's supper last night. I asked...why are you spelling the words? He replied, perfectly straight-faced, because he's able to understand the words and will demand to be fed. I almost fell over with laughing.

Crafting Only well educated phones and gizmos understand the wee square box messages. My phone hasn't a clue what the symbols stand for. I'm so last century.

I love it. ? Thread within a thread. I wish I had a pet so I could join in too. Do you think that as this is a virtual kitchen, I could have a virtual pet ? that could converse with real pets in a virtual way

Hi Sam- you did not arrive yesterday- was your taxi fare not paid? You have probably been ignored because all they are doing is tidying and cleaning for the open day. What state was the house in before one wonders.

You will like it here, very comfortable and quiet. You are not allowed on the sofa but the beds upstairs make up for that inconvenience.

Having been away for a couple of weeks, I have lost track. When are you off to Glasgow soop? Let's hope for a successful and painless outcome.
DGS2 is 11 today and it seems not a minute since the early morning phone call from DS2 telling of an emergency C-section and asking me to meet him in Oxford at Mothercare as baby was too big for the small garments prepared for him! Cue granny in car and speeding off to Oxford!

Its good to see we have such spirited pets ...I'm sure they say the same about us ! Anlon- that was unfortunate but these things happen.

Once upon a time a VERY long time ago after a riotous night in the mess and far too much to drink I caught Grampy weeing in the wardrobe....he had turned left instead of right and in his --state- sleep had mistaken it for the bathroom.

It took a while for him to get back in my good books after that one !!

Daphne boys will be boys eh? We had DGS 4 yesterday whilst his brother was at the eye hospital for some tests as his sty's are just reoccurring and getting worse. DGS4 is our adventurer and yesterday managed to get stuck in a bush in the garden . Admittedly it was a big bush but I have no idea what he was doing in it . I hope your DGS is not too worse for wear ;-)

I home Ann is doing ok too but think we will all worry a little until we hear from her.

Anyway, back to big clean up ( this does sound like we're dirty but we really aren't , I suppose its more about putting things away and making everything fresh and clean ).

DD has taken the DGC down to Somerset for the rest of the week to their holiday/weekend house at Cricket St Thomas. Within an hour of arriving,(before the online food delivery had even arrived, including I expect the ) DGS1 had had a collision on his bike and was at Chard hospital
Nothing broken, but a badly cut upper lip which needed glueing together. Oh dear!!

TriciaF would Bill like to join our select group? He would be made very welcome.

I also hope that everything is okay at annsixty's home but the family may see in a short space of time what she has to cope with and how difficult it is for her. I know that she is in pain but I hope that she is enjoying the rest.

The morphine pump - as I remember it very soothing but because it was diluted so much I needed the bedpan again soon after.
Just got back from a walk, at last a cool evening. Poor old Bill tried to jump a ditch, fell in and couldn't get out. Had to drag him by the collar. He has arthritis of the hips, which many of us know well.

I'm also thinking of annsixty . She may still be on the morphine pump. I rather liked it. With each shot I was transported to Disney world.
I'm also hoping that things are under control at home. She doesn't need any unwarranted distress right now.

How come we are all saddled with "clean freaks"? me, Grace, Rory, Sam, Anlon, and no doubt there are others.

I have taken over a bedroom and the bedding is cleaned frequently, including my quilt. What is wrong with some of my black hairs on the quilt? They could be used to stuff a cushion I am sure.

The house was cleaned again today, the hoover will be worn out soon. Yesterday the fridge in the kitchen had its day- no need to take a plate for food, any of the shelves would do as they were put through the dishwasher. I give up, Tara.

I do hope that annsixty is not in too much pain and that she was asleep when the physio visited! Hopefully all is well at home.

I was going to comment about madness being contagious, but thought maybe I`d better not, lol!!

PS ...and wearing the right expression after any so-called accident deserves cuddles galore.

Anlon Rory sympathises with you. He adds: Smelly toys and rugs should be banned from the wash. A) Washing wears them out. B) Soap powders are bad for our delicate constitutions. 3)It's bad manners for servants to refer any of our prized possessions as being "smelly" in the first place.
Little accidents are just that - accidents. Even servants can manage the odd accident. That's why Tena are advertised.

"I was a naughty boy as I had a large little accident in the kitchen last night. I think I got away with it as my servants were being very careful not to upset me and blamed each other (not enough walks/too much chicken fat on dinner). I even managed a couple of extra cuddles by looking suitably sorry. I am however upset as I heard that my favourite toy is to be replaced as it is worn out, there is no way I want a new one I want my smelly one back"
