We have just got back from a day at MKH Ambulatory Emergecy Unit (where DH gets his blood transfusions ) DH felt rough this morning so when they rang to rebook his iron infusion due today to Monday, I asked if he could come in anyway for a Hb test. That was at 11.While we waited for the result, the Consultant was talking seriously about a possible bone marrow problem as the blood transfusions/iron infusions are not as effective as when they started. There is a history of leukaemia/polycythaemia (sp?) in DH's family but because he has so many other things wrong, there were always other plausible theories. He also said though while he does suspect that DH's bone marrow is underperforming he sees no real benefit in putting him through nasty or painful investigations such as bone marrow biopsies just to confirm his suspicions as weekly blood tests and being prepared for fortnightly transfusions would still probably the best on offer. Not much benefit to quality of life, but pragmatic and we will just have to work round that. On the plus side JR hospital in Oxford are looking at a new model of device and may reattempt the Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion (attempted and abandoned after 90 mins in May/June) which if successful, could get DH off his Warfarin.
Now to get round to today's jobs!!!

I have never ever lusted after a big house with a vast kitchen and enormous garden. I'm very satisfied with what we have...compact, cosy and cost-effective. Now that I'm less able, I would gladly swap our garden for a neat terrace on which to scoff cake (in my dreams) and potted plants to please the eye.

NanaandGrampy The very thought of all the activity in your home right now, exhausts me. Think Zen.

anno Novak is no threat to anyone during these Olympic games. I was stunned when he was sent packing. Yesterday's match between Andy and the Frenchman was, as usual, swings and roundabouts. I needed to take myself away for a wee spell. At one point I thought... this is not going too well for our Andy. And then he rallied.
I also enjoy the Rugby 7s., the diving and the gymnastics.

Auntieflo our married granddaughter is in her mid-twenties. One of these days, like you, we may hear the same special news. Us lot will all be looking forward to the birth. We shall want pics and all manner of useful details such as weight and name etc. Why? Because we're downright nosy.

PRINTMISS I've made a fresh brew. We can't enjoy much of a view today. It's awfully grey and the islands are shrouded in a thick haar.

Tizliz Anlon must not venture on to the road. You are protecting him for his own good. He won't thank you for doing so...he has other things on his mind.

We visited the Care Home this morning. I suggested to a carer that it would be helpful if stackable/collapsible chairs could be made available for visitors to sit on. I was told that some of the residents would try shifting them between rooms and fall whilst doing so. Someone suggested beanie bags. I like the idea. However, getting out of one would be an ordeal and that would mean that I'd have to stay.

With most of the "Escape to the Country" kitchens I could fit my entire house into some of the kitchens and some still turn up their noses saying that the kitchen is too small. They should visit the real world, especially in London.

I visited a house a couple of years ago with a friend who was buying. We were asked to remove our shoes, I would not because I did not want to slither on laminate floors. Anyway there was so much dust I would have been cleaning the floor if I had taken my shoes off.

Nanaand Grampy DH "sold" our flat in London while I was in hospital having DD2, he had a stroppy 2 year old to look after, not fully potty trained, and the place must have been an absolute tip!

We booked flights yesterday! I have an appointment in the UK on the 17th October and I will be in UK for that week and the week before, nothing else is booked yet, I will PM you over the weekend.

Congratulation Aunie Flo. I'm plenty old enough to be a Great Gran myself but GCs seem to be enjoying their freedom too much at the moment.

NanaandGrampy in fairness Sam was given every opportunity to come here with a trunk load of goodies. He would have his own room so no worries there. I would not be able to give all of the other cats and dogs their own rooms but I would do my best.

With so many here to guard the house I could easily leave the French doors open and they could come and go as they pleased without wakening me.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that a bidding war starts.

Morning all.

Just a quick visit as we are knee deep in dusting and polishing . BY 6pm tonight we will be done ( in more ways than one I suspect lol) ...and there will be no cooking in my kitchen tonight !! Or showering..... I'm only allowing the bed to be slept in because it will be freshly dressed tomorrow morning anyway !!!

Yes * Charley* we and Sam will be off out for the day tomorrow. Sam is bewildered as one by one his things are being relocated to the garage. He's not impressed

Great news that you're home Ann we were all wondering how things were going. Glad family are running point on H. You must take care of yourself or this will all have been for nothing . Remember - dust IS a protective covering for furniture [wink} Get well soon !!

I heard this am that Heather had packed and was ready to return home when she was asked to join Andy in the mixed doubles. I do hope that Andy wins the singles gold, that would be the icing on the cake for this year. He has worked so hard and does not give up. He appears to be much more relaxed at Rio.

Charley, don't worry about Novak. He is already out of the running! Thank goodness Andy managed to ward off the threat yesterday. He's still in the mixed doubles with Heather, though Jamie and Johanna are out. I have been hooked on the Rugby 7s and hope they are in the Olympics to stay - such a good spectator spectacle and the matches don't last very long.

It is funny how animals take to one rather than the other. One would think that they would be very fond of the one who feeds them!

Tara has no choice, there is only me but when I was married a cat we had would not come near me but adored my OH.

Rory adores MacSporran and follows him around but is also aware when soop is about to feed him a chicken delicacy certain evenings.

Anlon is not normally one for wandering, but was probably feeling a bit neglected today. We knew OH would be busy and had debated about leaving Anlon with me but he is such a daddy's boy. Still, no harm done - well no irate owner knocking on the door ?

Elrel's TKR has been postponed for 6 weeks because of a chest infection. Mine has been postponed until March because of swelling of l) ankle and calf because of a pinned and plated #ankle in 2009. There is no answer apparently to my question of why now.

Andy worked so hard tonight- he was not giving up and it paid. Novak may be a slight problem!

Tizliz I agree, you cannot allow Anlon to go out if there is a busy road close by.

Tara came home at a reasonable time and is waiting for me to shower and join her.

Welcome home ann. Please prioritise yourself now. Maybe think about it this way, if you don't care for yourself you won't be able to care for your husband. There is an element of pots and kettles here, I've been the worst at caring for myself lately as the pain level proves . Good luck, hope you mend soon.

Anlon is not allowed to post tonight as he got out the workshop twice today (I wasn't there), must be a bitch on heat nearby. We are too close to the main road for this to be comfortable with. It was OH's fault but in his defence he had a bad day and could have done without a naughty dog.
