Daphne it always happens on Friday!DH is fortunate that he appears to get very good care at the 3 hospitals who are looking after him.

Here was silly me thinking that maybe the pair of you could enjoy some "me" time together with Grace of course. Your car must know the journey backwards.

I do hope that he is feeling better after the transfusions .

DaphneB I too had almost forgotten that your husband needs on-going expert medical care. I suppose that all you can do is follow the advice of the consultant. It all sounds extremely wearing (for both of you). Try to relax and I hope that his condition benefits after the blood transfusion.

Bone marrow biopsies are very unpleasant but don't last long - if done by the right person. However, so much can be discovered through blood tests these days than could a few years ago.
Hoping he feels better = did he have his transfusion today, or is it on Monday?

soop I hope that you do not intend to do any ironing for many weeks- you will also need a rest when you return home on Monday evening. You will be well looked after by MacSporran

I will be keeping my fingers crossed for NanaandGrampy tomorrow and especially for Sam, having temporarily had all the goodies he loves removed. The hard work is finished, it is up to the estate agent.

Daphne is DH tucked up in his own bed or was he kept in overnight?

Tara is in bed waiting for me to give her evening cuddles and generally make a fuss.

Yodel courier knocked on the door and by the time I reached it, he had deposited a large box and set off across the road. I do get cross with couriers who don't wait for me to answer the door. However, the box held a large bouquet of what appear to be irises most of which are still in bud, as thanks for keeping an eye on the GSs last week. A lovely surprise.

(He is having an iron infusion on Monday the blood transfusion will probably be Tuesday.)
One reason for not doing a bone marrow biopsy is that frankly there is not much more that could /would be done other than regular blood transfusions anyway, so why bother.
I have known for years and years that DH's quality of life would deteriorate but we have both sort of pretended to each that as each crisis is dealt with somehow he will get a bit better, but of course every time he has a setback (and there have been 3 this year already) he doesn't get back to where he was before. That's just the way things are." What can't be cured must be endured, eh?"

anno you should know by now that you should be sitting behind the front door knitting. That is what I shouted at a delivery fellow who attempting to break down my door as he did not give me time to reach it. Still, the flowers were a nice gift. It is good to feel appreciated.

I really admire your philosophical attitude. We pretend, too, but setbacks don't really bring him back to where he was. I love your great sense of humour. Keep it going. All the best for Monday. X

Good morning all. I am trying to catch up but it is slightly confusing.
I am so sorry that Charleygirland Elrel have had postponements, it is so disheartening.
I am in less pain today apart from the excersises but my whole leg is very swollen and the bruises are pretty spectacular, a small price to pay though.
I hope soop has a successful outcome on Monday and is restored to good health.
anno I think you said a friend is having the op soon. Presumably in Stepping Hill. Please tell her the care was exemplary, the whole staff were wonderful and everywhere was spotlessly clean. I was even given a super new electric bed, I could whizz up and down to my hearts content.

annsixty It's a bonus to have you back with us lot. The swelling and bruises may get worse before the leg begins to get back to normal. After both of my hip replacement ops, the swelling was that bad I couldn't bend my knees. You must really take care not to overdo things. I believe that our bodies tell us what not to do. Exercise is important...only let it be gentle.

Charleyg I've saved my ironing for this afternoon. I feel less guilty watching the television during the day, providing I'm otherwise participating in doing something useful. Daft as a brush.
We travel to Glasgow on Monday. Stay overnight in a hotel close to the Victoria as I'm expected to "sign in" at 8:am Tuesday morning. After an enema, I shall go under an anaesthetic. That's the bit that always slightly concerns
me. Not because the process makes me feel unwell...it's because I've had far too many and I wonder whether or not the brain deteriorates as a result. Also, of course, I want to recover quickly and travel home in the evening. The procedure is merely to establish whether or not further surgery might be possible/effective.

anno That was a pleasant well-earned surprise.

Jalima MacSporran had a bone marrow biopsy on one of his many visits to the hospital He has a form of Leukaemia. He said that the procedure was not too unpleasant. The result of his biopsy showed that the cancer is in the marrow. He remains very "upbeat" and in fine spirits.
When I read of DaphneB's husband's complex health issues, I'm filled with admiration for the way in which she copes and, as Bellanonna says, maintains a delightful sense of humour.

I thought that might have been the case with mcsporran, Soop.
I think given DH's age (69) as long as it is not aggressive it will just be something up with which he will have to put, as they say.
Sometimes you just have to "thole" things and while that doesn't mean being negative or turning your face to the wall, fretting doesn't solve much either.

After days of hard work only one person signed up for the open day. So it was all done in half an hour !!feeling a bit deflated . BUT the house is sooo clean and tidy it does look nice.

So we have retrieved Sams stuff from the garage , we're going to sit in the garden and enjoy the fine weather and then it's steak for dinner!! And sod it !!

So glad so see you here Ann and sounding like things are going well.

I agree Daphne one could worry over absolutely everything and end up a nervous wreck. For some reason I thought that DH was in his 70's. At times he probably feels in his 80's and climbing. He has had a lot to put up with medically and no end in sight. One has to make the best of it and like Grace, a nap works wonders. Enjoy the good weather if possible.

soop I did not explain myself well, I meant ironing for your friend. Please give next week a rest.

I did not realise that Rafa is still in the singles, I saw that he won the men's doubles- his wrist problems must have vanished.

What a let down NanaandGrampy. I'm not surprised you feel weary.
So, enjoy Sam's company and your clean and tidy house and feel totally guilt free as you spend the rest of the day spoiling yourselves.

What an absolute buggeration nanaandgrampy but try not to feel too deflated, pour yourselves a bottle glass of something nice and sit back knowing you don't need to do any housework for about another 6 months

I meant to post earlier and say that I too admire Daphne's attitude to her husband's ill health and sense of humour in coping with it. I agree that " what can't be cured must be endured" etc. But a lot don't, and make things a whole lot worse for everyone while they are complaining.

So for everyone who tries to stay light hearted in adversity. If I could I'd make them long stemmed irises like anno's. They sound beautiful.

NanaandGrampy your estate agent did not over exert himself did he? Are you going to look around for another or are you saddled contactwise with this one?

Enjoy your garden and the lovely sunshine. Poor Sam will not know what is happening- his toys making a sudden appearance. Have a lovely supper tonight with a nice bottle of wine. A definite buggeration of a weekend for all three of you.

Sod's law says that while you are reading the Sunday's in your PJs tomorrow morning, with a sink full of last night's wine glasses dishes, and Sam has obligingly been sick on the carpet, you will get a call from your agent to expect potential buyers within half an hour!!

Oh Daphne you did cheer me up !! You're so right ... right down to Sam being sick . I am sure that's how it will happen and equally sure this level of pristiness ( is that a word???) will not last. To start with its not comfy and its too much like hard work !!

I guess when I read about your poor husband or ann's I realise in the big picture of things there's a lot worse than an unsold house.
