Well it is so cold here that I have had the electric fire on for an hour - I don't care that it is middle of August.

Goodness, somuch to keep up with, some very intelligent and articulate pets have been visiting. I too have been wondering about ann, so hope all is going well for her. I'm a bit spaced out at the minute, maximum pain killers to compensate for seriously overdoing things. I knew of course, but sometimes I refuse to listen to the sensible voice because I just want to do the things I know will cause problems. It was fun! So major down time now, any posts I make will doubtlessly not make sense, or less sense than usual because of the extra meds so best to keep quiet-ish for a bit. Take care all, back soon.

I am going to go to bed soon to read my book for the same reason- I am also cold. I do not want to have any more coffee or I will be up and down all night.

Friends of mine who live in Falkirk have had the heating on a few times recently.

My leccy blanket is going on any minute now. I cannot believe it was so hot last weekend that all the chaps had their PJ tops off and apparently it is to warm up again this. But for me, the temperatures are distinctly Autumnal (or what I used to know as a Scottish Summer!)
Hard to know what to wear -woollies? Cardies?
And also food, I have a fridge full of salad veg and cannot think of anything I want to eat LESS!!

D Day minus 2 here !

You know all those little jobs you say 'we'll do that when we have time' well they're getting done here.

This is my done list in the last4 1/2 months .....

Hall stairs and landing redecorated
Lounge and Dining room redecorated
All new furniture in lounge and dining room - suitably downsized!
Fencing repaired , restained and trellis added.
Garden whipped into shape.
Front garden redone for ease and kerb appeal ;-)
Master bedroom redecorated
Declutter throughout
Kids bedroom tackled and tamed.
Kitchen replastered and repainted
Bathroom and shower room regrouted.

whew !!!!

I'm not sure I can bring myself to move now

I guess its the military in us , half of these jobs were just to make sure it was clean for 'march out' .

Its definitely chilly here too Daphne and Charley but gave me an excuse to put on the new duck down duvet I bought ....just for show .

I totally agree Daphne I've got a lot of salad going to waste because we just want nice hot and comforting food .

Sam thanks Tara for her concern and would like to say he's not usually allowed on the sofa here either unless its on his rug because he does like a good snuggle ! He's sorry he didn't get a mini cab ( there was a bit of a to-do in taking a dog even though he pointed out he was a well behaved one ) BUT also because there was liver cooking for dinner for the next few days which is a super treat and delicious.

So he's prepared to put up with his crazy people just now , but maybe another time ?

NanaandGrampy I was exhausted reading your long list of jobs done. Are you sure that you want to move and start all over again?

I know that I should get my lounge/dining room redecorated but the upheaval I think is almost too much for me but I may regret it when I get new curtains and blinds fitted. Also nothing is cheap these days.

Tara kindly came home at an acceptable hour last night so we had an early night with me reading for ages.

Luckily I have no salad stuff in the fridge- tonight I may have the portion of beef curry I froze last week- not decided yet.

I would think that the medical staff will be thinking of throwing annsixty out today or tomorrow- I only hope she tells them straight what life is like at home. She has had 3 days of relaxation and hopefully decent pain relief.

I cannot believe that the weather will be in the early 30's soon- it is like a yo-yo.

Well, it's not cold here but enough rain fell in the last 12 hours to float the Ark! It's so depressing when August is supposed to be summer
No salad for me today though, I'm going to try a new Italian restaurant with a friend. Next week, it's a new Raymond Blanc brasserie which has opened nearby! I've got to keep my strength up!

Could I exchange some sunshine for rain please Lona but preferably to rain during the night only. I do not think we have seen a drop here for 3 weeks.

You are definitely well settled into your new abode and testing the local restaurants. That is the life, enjoy it.

Brasserie Blanc is an excellent chain and we regularly lunch there
Incredibly good value for the set lunch (still plenty of choices) , nice portions , not massive platters like pub grub and exquisitely presented.
Ours is opposite a Sainsbury's with free underground parking, so win-win.

On the day we were "marched out" I was thrilled to be informed that the accommodation had improved considerably (thanks to good housekeeping). I was told that, on a few occasions, there is a need for serious clean-ups before the accommodation could be re-let.

cornergran Some of never learn. Too much strenuous activity inevitably has "pay back". Please, listen to your body and relax. You know that it makes sense.

Charleyg I'm also wondering whether annsixty will be going home today. Part of me hopes not. I am concerned that she'll be expected to step back into her previous routine. Well! She won't - and the sooner her dear husband realises that fact, the better.

Lona My son has met Raymond Blanc. He did so when he wrote reviews of restaurants for a newspaper. Some years ago he travelled the world and contributed to the travel guide 'Lonely Planet'

nanaandgrampy my OH keeps saying he must do xxxx if we want to sell the house and I get annoyed, if it needs doing then do it for us not some future stranger.

It is at least warmer here today but so wet. So many outdoor jobs need doing instead I am doing sorting out inside which I hate (which is why it needs doing).

Hopefully summer will arrive eventually, if briefly, and we can finish all our salads.

Things have been tricky here but H is being firmly put in his place by family. I will post more when Iget settled. Hospital and staff were wonderful.

So glad to hear that it went well ann, take it easy now and don't be tempted to do more than you should or you will have us all to deal with!

So pleased to hear that you are at home and well. It is so soon to kick you out but it was inevitable.

Without being rude, your H needed a wakeup call. I am aware that he will not remember but seeing you with a zimmer frame or crutches should remind him if that is possible.

Well, we thought the new Italian restaurant looked good, as did the waiters but it didn't quite meet our picky high standards!
I've looked at the menu at Raymond's place Daphne and it is very appealing.

Good to know you are home Annsixty and sounded chipper too! (or is that the painkillers talking?) Wishing you a swift and painfree return to mobility and hoping that your DH copes with it all too. Must be a bit confusing for him! Glad the family has rallied round.

Do keep your eyes peeled lona, shortly after the MK Brasserie Blanc opened RB himself appeared and went round all the tables introducing himself and asking people if they were enjoying their meal. You wouldn't exactly say "No" would you?

Annsixty, wonderful news that you are home and well, but do take care not to try to do too much. I didn`t expect you to be home so soon, I was in for a week.

Rafa through to the quarter finals. Andy is about to play his game. I've enjoyed a lovely lazy afternoon of tennis.
