I'm probably preaching to the converted but is there any chance of some respite care for your husband to give you a little space to breath and recoup?

I'm sure you've thought about that but I just don't know how to help.xx

annsixty If only we could do something positive to help you right now. I can barely imagine how low you are feeling. The on going stress is sapping you of physical energy and emotional wellbeing. Please, for your own sake, will you confide in your GP? I am getting increasingly concerned for you.
Your painkillers are vital and stopping them for even a weekend can upset your system big time. I'm not saying that you should follow my example BUT I take prescribed painkillers and, I also enjoy a G&T at the weekend. Ask your GP for his recommendation. It's worth a visit to help get such things verified.
Please continue to talk to us lot if it helps in some small way to keep you from feeling totally isolated.

Sadly my H is getting worse and getting quite difficult. I am struggling to cope a s I am not well. I think it is stress, I have pains in the back of my neck and the back of my head. My knee is painful and although I know I am stupid I try not to take my painkillers at the weekend so that I can have a G&T and a couple of glasses of wine with my meal.
At 10: 30 last night all the power in the house went off, H was asleep of course, not that he would know what to do , so I was out In the garage sorting the fuse box out and feeling very sorry for myself. Doing a roast tonight so if he is difficult over that it is single ready meals from now on.

kittylester Our garden has never been so lush. Today is not a day to venture into it. It's damp and muggy. Midges are possibly lurking in the long grass.

Charleyg You are well blest. Two extra pairs of willing hands can achieve a lot when armed with the appropriate gardening tools. Sharp secateurs are a must.
When I was a child, a man (on a bike) used to stop off in the village and sharpen tools. We also had a man with a horse and cart who regularly collected old rags. Why was he known as the "rag and bone man?

Just back in harness after a brief hiatus in our lives. Nil desperandum!

It is very humid and heavy feeling here on the SE Hampshire coast - we need a sea breeze to freshen it up.Perhaps we could have chosen a better day to do some drastic pruning of overgrown shrubs in the front garden? I have left Himself clearing the clippings up and am about to make a jug of fresh lemonade. Memories of Mum who always had a jug on the go on hot summer days.

There is a 20-year gap between my eldest and youngest siblings too bagsand milly. Mum had her first child at 20 and last at 40. I was sandwiched between the two boys - one 6 years older and the other 7 years younger. He always calls himself "tail end Charlie". Didn't feel odd at all because that was our norm.

The lemons are calling from the kitchen so I must heed their call!

Morning all!

Busy day yesterday looking at houses. Nothing really hit the mark although Grampy found one he likes but it doesn't have the view and I think we can change the house but not the location. So I'm not compromising.

Met some lovely people but the first lady in a pristine house with a wonderful garden touched my heart. Grampy was out looking at sheds and such with the estate agent and I asked if she had found a new home - and she burst into tears !!!

It turns out she had only recently lost her husband , forcing the move and whilst she was happy to move her loss was still painful.

I'm not sure what the men thought on their return to find us hugging , but we sent the estate agent off and stayed for a cup of tea and to allow her to reminisce. Whoever buys her house will find it was a very happy one .

Daphne your daughter looks very relaxed , you have done a great job supporting her. I love the sound of the baby clothes shopping , its one of my favourite things.

Tegan I remember at the age of 5 going down the street in London to place my Granddad's bets. He used to say it was how I learnt to count. I love a little flutter !!

milly, there's a twenty year range between my eldest and youngest daughter. No-one has said they thought it odd. if someone did I'd be inclined to retort: Yes, well, I'm good at odd.

My budding gardeners tackled the large bush outside my front door- it is barely recognisable now! Both are allowed to use secacteurs but one young fellow brought a pair of pliers which did not really do the job. The other fellow fetched his own as mine were not sharp enough!

I do have some holes in the bush but it is appreciably shorter and it kept the pair of them out of mischief for an hour or so. I will miss them when they go on holiday-they are such chatterboxes and stirrers!

Daphne I am so pleased that Flynn remembered his manners when in company, even giving the odd smile. Is your daughter feeling more rested now?

Ann I am so sorry to hear that you have been under the weather- typical that your meal was not appreciated.

millymouge I agree, how rude- people should keep their thoughts to themselves but of course they do not and it is zilch to do with them.

soop You have been fortunate enough to be in touch with Torben all of his short life- that child has such a happy smile and he is growing quickly.

I think you will find glass has GC spanning roughly the same age gap.

milly our 6 gc are aged from 3 to 9 so nothing like your gaps. We do have step gc aged 15 and 12 but still nothing like your age gaps or yours number.

A day in the garden beckons for us today. With all the rain we've had it is so overgrown I expect to find David Attenborough and a film crew in there.

My 7 grandchildren are 25, 24, 22, 19,19, 16.......and 8.

I have been asked recently about my great grand child, which I don't have. This is due to the fact that my grandchildren range from 23 years down to 3 years. When I have mentioned ages some people assume that the littlest is a great grand child. When I explained to someone I was talking to the other day she said "how odd" which I thought was actually rather rude. Am I the only one who has big age differences in their little ones?

Lots of lovely photographs from my D who is having a well deserved long weekend with her friend who lives in Berlin. She says East Berlin is beautiful. Downside for me I have not been well since Wednesday but cooked tonight only for H to leave most of it.

We have taken Littlest Fella to his first garden party - a strawberry tea in the lovely gardens of the farmhouse behind our house, with Pimms for the mummies and grannies. Actually there were precious few of the mummy generation, do these lovely village activities not appeal to the young middle-aged generation any more?
All very civilised and he acquitted himself hardly crying and even bestowing the occasional smile

Went to visit darling daughter and the family today. She has abou 1 1/2 weeks to go. Big dgd is playing up by refusing to sleep in her own bed since daddy was rushed to hospital. It's really upset her and what with the end of term upheaval at school as well she's really unsettled.
It's mainly because as she's on the autistic spectrum she does not deal with changes to her routine at all well.
Heaven knows what will happen when dgs decides to grace us with his presence?

It's raining. The islands are shrouded in grey mist. I'm therefore going to bring my ironing up to date. After which I shall feed the pussy cats. After which I shall raise a G&T and wish you all a pleasant Saturday night.

Charleyg You are right. Babes are wee for such a short time. I would love to be able to go back in time and spend a day with wee man Torben. I've lovely memories of those special days.

Daphne I cannot believe that young man is now 8 weeks old. At least your DD is looking so much happier and relaxed and your OH is also loving that young fellow. I think that Flynn maybe mesmerised by the glasses. Make the most of him, he will be at school before you can blink.

Tegan I shall never forget the time I placed a bet on Rhyme and Reason (back in 1988, I believe). The horse was an outsider. Fell at the first fence...recovered and won the race . I won something like £80. My son and I went to Exeter for the day and had a marvellous time spending the winnings.

You are doing your best for your lovely daughter and dear Littlest fella. It's very early days. Bouncy chairs are ideal for a baby who likes to feel that he's on the move. Toe on the edge of the chair and gently rock...rock...rock...
I used to like traipsing around the baby outfit departments. "These days" there is so much choice. Colourful and practical and begging to be bought for a very special someone's wardrobe. The photos are super. Thank you for sharing with us.
I agree that the world does seem like a crazy mixed-up place. All that we can do is continue to do our level best to share what we have with those who need us.
