Here we are again...you know the words. Welcome and enjoy each others company. [cake] wine flowers sunshine...
Away to watch more tennis grin

soop Sun 14-Aug-16 13:34:13

Tizliz Clean windows make all homes look well cared for. My late mother had a thing about cleaning windows. It was as good a daily work-out for her.
Guess what I opted to do (so that I feel I've earned a relaxing afternoon of tennis)...cleaned the wretched wheelie bin with hot soapy suds and a broom.
As for getting lost. MacSporran and I make a habit of doing so whenever we visit unfamiliar locations. The funny thing is, he hardly ever considers pulling in to a garage or asking a passer by for directions. Is it a man thing...not to ask the way to wherever? grin

Tizliz Sun 14-Aug-16 13:24:12

Soop I know what you mean about feeling guilty watching TV in the daytime. However, I have cleaned the Windows this morning (they were filthy after last week's storm), so I can sit down with a clean conscious. I might fall asleep as we had visitors late yesterday evening and Anlon (like a 2 year old child) got over excited and would not settle so sleep was a bit disturbed.

I'm glad I am not the only one who can get lost as soon as they leave home. Went out last week and discovered there was no map in the car! We managed but there were a few "turn here NOW" moments ?

soop Sun 14-Aug-16 13:08:18

Oh dear...NanaandGrampy I mentioned Grace (should have been Sam) Please forgive me. That was a major senior moment. hmm
Lamb shanks, eh! My mouth is watering. AND blackberry and apple crumble. Will it be served with custard? If so, I bags a place at your table.

wot It's lovely to have you visit the kitchen. Thank you for your kind message. I'm longing to be walking back through our front door PDQ.

I suppose it's possible that the kitchen may need yet another extension before too long. So that you lot don't wander around wondering where the key is...I shall open a new kitchen before I leave home tomorrow.

Lona Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Have a wonderful time.

anno shock I hadn't considered that Del Potro may beat dear Rafa. Tut! The Magnums are ready and waiting for the final. I'm a teeny weeny bit on edge. All I ask of Andy is that he plays to the best of his ability and does not throw a wobbly. When he's in a negative frame of mind...sad

G&T So sorry to hear that you're knackered. It's very inconsiderate of your car to be out of action when you most need it. Keep strong. This too shall pass...

Thank you, cornergran At last the sun is shining. We'll therefore enjoy a pleasant drive to Glasgow. MacSporran has printed out directions. If I add a hmm you'll understand that, on almost every occasion we go anywhere, we take a wrong turn. wink

Gaga Thank you. Bags has been busy taking care of her mother. She's had a rather "interesting" time. I hope that she pops in to update us with the latest news.

number and oldgoat My son is an instructor at a paragliding club in Sussex. He has suggested that we may both take a flight in tandem. Gulp...

Charleyg Rory and Bracken will be well cared for. You should see the cupboard containing only the best of feline fodder.

DaphneB Andy's winning shot was very exciting. I was leaping falling from my chair. What will the final be like. Nerve wracking throughout, I'm sure.

NanaandGrampy Sun 14-Aug-16 12:51:43

ah Charley he is a dab hand . His Mum made sure of that for which I will always be grateful. Also he likes eating and in our house that means you need to be able to fend for yourself ! Both my girls also can ( but don't always) cook from scratch .

You are most welcome to join uis and I will swap my wine for your dessert smile

We had steak yesterday but it is never tender ( must be me) sad

I did smile at your comment about only inviting his Mum round !! That could be the case. We have had a chat today and are resigned to not moving forward with the place we have found if we don't sell. At best , as we have no chores except the routine to do , we will simply go out and enjoy ourselves more.

Gagagran pop in , the more the merrier !! If he's cooking for 3 it might as well be 4 smile

no I haven't seen bags for ages either.

Charleygirl Sun 14-Aug-16 11:42:11

My ex was in the army for many years, I am sure the closest he got was passing the entrance because cleaning was a foreign league as was cooking.

soop in case I do not manage for whatever reason to say good luck and all the best flowers. Rory will feel hard done by as will Bracken.

Gagagran Sun 14-Aug-16 10:45:04

Good luck for your trip to hospital soop. Hope they decide they can get you sorted out more satisfactorily than heretofore! I am sure that MacS will take great care of you and you will be back home with the black Prince and his daughter before you know it.flowers

Has anyone heard from bags? Last thing I saw was that her Mum had been rushed off to hospital after a fall. Thinking of you bags and hoping the news is better. flowers

Enjoy your lambshanks Nand G - sounds very appealing. Wish my DH could/would cook. My next husband will have to pass a cooking test. grin

Charleygirl Sun 14-Aug-16 09:42:07

That sounds very impressive NanaandGrampy I had no idea that Grampy had a map to find the kitchen. The lamb shanks sound wonderful-I do not bother with dessert so you can have my portion tomorrow.

I am having half a steak with trimmings this evening- I cannot manage a full steak these days and I may open a bottle of wine as I need the space in the fridge! My excuse anyway!

Perhaps a trip to the estate agent tomorrow to ask him face to face why he only asked his mother to view? I hope that Sam is enjoying the rest and he has his toys around him. A bit dull here today but I know that the sun will be shining later.

NanaandGrampy Sun 14-Aug-16 09:27:11

Good morning !

My house is STILL immaculate but we cant find anything and some stuff has turned up in the most bizarre places !!

Soop I cannot believe MacS is 76 - he looks good on it so I want a wee dram with him if that's his secret!! I hope you're already for your trip today and tomorrows op! Safe journey and don't worry about us lot we'll be good and waiting for news from you !!

Lona now I am intrigued ...Zip World Velocity....will there be pictures???? I shall take your advice as you have recent experience but its pretty stressful this selling business .

Glad you survived WW3 Gandtea ! Cars are such money pits sometimes aren't they??

Today , I shall be indulging myself with some crafting - well after all there is no housework to be done !! smile I cooked last night , a disappointing steak. I never can get it tender sad so today Grampy is cooking , minted lamb shanks, his special roasties, veggies and blackberry and apple crumble ! Just roll me out the door when we're done. All comers welcome !!

Charleygirl Sun 14-Aug-16 05:11:12

I agree numberplease in my 20's or 30's maybe but definitely not now.

I cannot believe that Mo Farrah has won his 3rd gold medal- I have spelt his name correctly this time. I only saw the result, not the actual run but knowing BBC we will see it at least 8 times during the day.

The cyclists did so well yesterday with I think more medals to come. As a country we have done so well being no.8 on the medal table and then leaping to no.3 within 24 hours. At this rate we will be passing the Chinese.

numberplease Sat 13-Aug-16 22:19:06

The Zipwire looks terrifying, but if I was a good few years younger I`d have probably enjoyed it. Not now!

Lona Sat 13-Aug-16 22:15:31

It was my idea oldgoat, then everyone wanted to join in!

Charleygirl Sat 13-Aug-16 22:13:15

anno I was hoping that Andy would end up playing Del Potro because I think that Andy has a better chance of winning- I will keep my fingers crossed for tomorrow.

I did enjoy the tennis and cycling this evening. I think that square eyes should have a shower and retire to bed now. Today was an exercise in how to waste time without really trying, having been glued to the TV.

annodomini Sat 13-Aug-16 22:07:34

That was some tennis match. Thank goodness it can finish with a tie breaker, instead of going on and on and on! So Andy will take on Del Potro. Go for it, Andy!

oldgoat Sat 13-Aug-16 21:57:11

lona Did you actually choose the Zip World Velocity experience for your birthday treat or did a kind person buy it for you??
It sounds absolutely terrifying!

Charleygirl Sat 13-Aug-16 21:55:05

Thanks Lona the first thing that came to mind was OMG. The family ticket price is not quite what one would be spending very frequently! It must be the Scot in me! Enjoy yourself if that is what floats your boat.

GandTea Sat 13-Aug-16 21:42:47

Hello Kitcheners, I've been ignoring you all lately. Looking after GC whilst DD partner tours the outer Hebrides on his motor bike (in the rain). Absolutely knackered, our two gs's are a nightmare when together, ww3 all day long. Car has broken down again, second time in as many weeks, so limited in where we can take them.

Lona Sat 13-Aug-16 20:47:20

Charley, sorry I thought I'd bored you all mentioned it before smile
It's the longest zipwire in Europe, www.zipworld.co.uk/adventure/detail/velocity
Hope that link works.

cornergran Sat 13-Aug-16 20:18:15

Pleased all went well ann and the NHS did you proud. Oh dear n&g how frustrating. I'm sure you are right, when you are back to normal life viewings will happen. Keep smiling, your home sounds lovely and there will be just the right person for it. Wishing you good luck for Tuesday soop, hope it's a reasonable experience and the outcome is one that you want. Fingers and toes will be crossed for you.

annodomini Sat 13-Aug-16 19:18:29

soop, are you now watching Rafa? He looks to be back in good shape. I hope it lasts. A final between him and Andy would be exciting but I will be backing Andy of course.

annodomini Sat 13-Aug-16 19:14:39

ann60, I'm glad that Stepping Hill did you proud. I found the staff in the orthopaedics wards very efficient and kindly. My friend, as it turns out, was there the week before you and is now doing well - it was her second knee job and she has had a hip done there too. I hope all continues to go well but don't get over-confident and do too much. flowers

Charleygirl Sat 13-Aug-16 19:09:18

Lona could you please explain to the dim what Zip World Velocity at Bethesda is? I have never heard of it.

I will be going to bed tonight with square eyes because I have been watching the Olympics for hours. I would love to watch Mo Farrar and co. but staying up to the early hours I do not think is on. I can catch up when watching the news early am.

wot Sat 13-Aug-16 18:44:59

Soop, I wish you the very best for next week and will be thinking of you x x

Lona Sat 13-Aug-16 18:19:27

ann I'm glad your hospital treatment was so good, I think we don't hear often enough how well the NHS can work. Keep doing the exercises and resting, and I hope you're still getting lots of help at home flowers
NanaandGrampy that must have been very disappointing and frustrating. Don't lose hope though, it only takes one person to love your house and it's sold! ??
Soop good luck on Tuesday, I hope they can find a way to put you back together like Humpty ??
Tomorrow is my birthday treat day at Zip World Velocity at Bethesda and I'm very excited.
I should add that last Tuesday I paid for my funeral plan, but the two are not connected in any way! I hope!

hmm

DaphneBroon Sat 13-Aug-16 17:56:35

Thank, you for the heads up for the Andy match -I caught the last few points just in time!! smile

soop Sat 13-Aug-16 16:57:11

DaphneB MacSporran will be 76 in November. He tires quickly and he has numerous bruises. We'll know what the latest report is when we go to see the consultant very soon. After which, he'll return for a further scan that will update us on the size of the aortic aneurism.

NanaandGrampy Count your blessings - you have a spotless home and the sun is shining and Grace can relax. Here you are...a big group (((hug))) from us lot
Please form a disorderly queue for the quaffing of the bubbly.

dustyangel Tyke! grin

I'm away to watch the Andy match. I shall therefore wish you a peaceful Saturday evening. I look forward to catching up with your news tomorrow. smile flowers moon
