Driver impatience

I was driving down the A34, a dual carriageway, to Winchester yesterday with DGC and their parents on board. I was driving with care and within the speed limit, but still travelling at close to 70mph. I looked in my mirror, saw nothing in sight and gently pulled out to overtake a caravan and car combo.

All of a sudden a red car hove into sight, coming up behind me very fast. He then undertook me and whizzed through the narrowing gap between me and the caravan combination to overtake it in front of me. I had to break to avoid hitting him. He then disappeared out of sight down the road. Comment is unnecessary.

I was unfortunately someone who nearly caused an accident yesterday turning right at traffic lights which had turned red. I don't drive here very much and was a bit lost so watching what the car in front was doing (they'd cut in front of me out of a car park) - I didn't notice that the lights had changed until I was halfway over and the opposite cars started moving towards me - very embarrassing

It's as bad up and down the country. Even travelling on a bus can be a nightmare round here, in the south east anyway. All part of the general lack of respect that some people have.

There's rarely a police car around when you want one or a speed cam for that matter.

You were lucky, Nina. I read recently that impact from the side in car accidents is much more likely to cause harm to people than even a headon collision.
I'm becoming much more nervous about driving, especially after my accident in March which was mainly my fault, and partly due to my impatience to get to where I was going. It still keeps coming back, how my passenger could have been badly injured.

Impatience

I've had three near misses in the past two days !
Yesterday I had two idiots in separate incidents pull out of side roads causing me to do emergency stops both times. The first 'gentleman' then stuck his index finger up at me. Delightful !
This morning I very nearly hit a woman who didn't understand the give way to your right rule at a mini roundabout (I was on her right).
I often think it's arrogance as much as impatients. "Finger man" obviously thought he had a right to drive like that.

Glad you dont witness stuff like that very often.

I try not to go out on fridays if I dont have too, particularly later in the afternoons.

Husband now has a dashcam, so that if there is a problem, he has evidence that it wasn't him in the wrong!
