What the h*ll are "Dane" lessons?

Oh, is he learning Danish? I'm sure Scandinavian languages are difficult to learn, though if he's allowed to stay up late on a Saturday he could watch and understand some of the Danish series on BBC4. Not on at the moment though. Glad you've got his present sorted, and seemingly without help from the grans. Will he wear his new outfit on his birthday or is it strictly for holidays?

If the lad is not interested in books, perhaps he has other interests to be fostered? My 3 DGC are all bookworms so I tend to give presents that will encourage other interests - recently - a year's subscription to a training choir, season ticket for the swimming pool, a camera, musical instrument, fruit bushes for the budding gardener, and so on.

There's a good DVD out called "Watching Paint Dry". Compared to this thread it might be a bit too exciting.

How about a hard back copy of '101 ways to dupe a Granny and giggle a lot afterwards' by U.R. Sust. Available in all good books shops from a while ago. Unless of course, he already has a copy. Would be a shame to get a duplicate gift.

Ok. I'll stop being ambivalent. Why not get a nice set of audio books since he hates reading and this might foster a love of literature? you could sit and listen with him. Have some fun time together.

Of course it is ok to wear a onesie and ugg style boots whilst reading.

Complete works of Shakespeare is a bit more than just a book. However if he hates reading maybe, as a conscientious gran, you should be trying to encourage him to hone his reading skills. It's quite useful to be a good coñfident reader. Does he have any career aspirations yet that might suggest an appropriate present?

He hates reading so highly unlikely he would want a Shakespeare book :-)
