I think a lot of people who voted out did so for many reasons; they are not racist although there may be some who are.

I was not one of them, but I do know people who did vote out, some educated to a very high level, some worked at high level in industry, one whose wife is German and has many German in-laws who are very unhappy with the EU too.

I started this thread as a light hearted post. The majority voted for out - accept it and move on. Now it seems the "Chicken Little" syndrome seems to be in effect. Calm down dears - go forth and multiply.

I SO agree with NanaandGrampy and Willsnan, what's done is done, life goes on so enjoy it, an inquisition won't change anything.......

It was for us in 1975. Common Market not European Community/federal Europe though. Even lived in Germany with family for seven years. New beginnings now another era.

I won't be reading or commenting on all the threads full of anger and bitterness,because I knew it would be like this if we exited the EU.

I imagine this is how people felt when we last had this type of referendum and the majority spoke... we made it another 40 odd years :-)

So true Nina NanaandGrampy and Willsmadnan. Democracy has created an exciting if scarey leap into the future and given all our politicians a swift kick. Everyone might get a sense of humour back when things have settled down. Hair dryers were next on the hit list I believe.

I will be worse off than most of you on this forum.... living in the EU, on just a single UK state pension. Am I down-hearted? No , life's too short. Those of you whingeing on about your super-annuated pensions..... stop listening to the prophets of doom, especially BBC rolling news. The sun came up today , Tesco's is open , its business as usual.

There will be ups and downs and bumpy roads ahead no doubt but I for one am sick of people who voted differently from me ramming their view down my throat. Trust me I did my homework and as a member of a democracy I was allowed to vote- without fear or favour ( or the approval of GNetters) - as I see fit.

As did everyone else.

Now we have to wait and see how this will work, what it will mean etc . I think a little humour on the way is allowed because I for one am not wasting the time I have left on gods green earth revisiting something that will not change.

If the vote had gone the other way I would not now personally be jumping on every thread to voice my displeasure. I would take it that we had followed the majority vote.

I am sure that not everyone who voted 'out' are xenophobic. Keep calm and carry on. In a couple of days things will have settled down a bit - and the markets.
