Playful and nonchalant

I am wearing a (faded) 3/4 floral top and (faded) crop black leggings and 'Animal' flip flops- the most comfortable footwear I have ever worn. Getting smarter later as going to a BBQ.

Forgot to say that I will definitely be more 'playful' later at the BBQ after a glass or two of vino but definitely not at all nonchalant (don't think I have ever been nonchalant actually).

my added extra is a bottle of reisling ,which highly complements my colouring to that of squashed tomato red..so am nonchalantly negotiating my keyboard very carefully

There seem to be a few white and blue spotty d/gowns about.Where can I buy a tasteful cat like Jane10's ?

and today another wet Monday I shall done my playful bright yellow Joules (suitable for land and sea) wincheater and nonchalantly go out and get drenched.

I'm being playful this morning in my clingy animal print 'Bet Lynch' leggings with a slightly tatty but stretchy black T-shirt. Keeping me warmish (it's peeing down and chilly) is an old grey stripey cardi, finished off with pink ballet type slippers, with holes in the sole.
No wonder I'm alone!

My inner nonchalance is being channeled today in multicoloured striped dressing gown purchased from Ikea for a fiver about 10 years ago. Rocking the vintage look! And the cheeky accessory of the day is the small, delicate and highly original plaster cast on my right foot. It certainly adds a " je ne c'est quoi".

I'm very nonchalant this morning in very old pull-on jeans (the elastic has gone and they keep slipping down to reveal my playful granny knickers) and a fleece that was once black but has faded with washing to an interesting shade of dark grey, decorated with quite a bit of black cat fur because She-Who-Rules-The-House decided it was a good thing to curl up on for a kip.

I am going to do a massive tart-up later though, before going to pick up grandchildren from school this afternoon - I don't want to terrify them!

I recently had a lightbulb moment concerning fashion and the high street. When shopping I saw that every fashion shop window had models in lovely, pretty, summery dresses, cardies and sandals. They looked incredibly 'nonchalent' and sported 'playful accessories' too. However, every single woman on the street had jeans, a wintry top and a jumper and/or coat to suit the awful summer we are being gifted by the weather gods.

I always use perfume when I see my grandchildren, I work on the basis that when they remember me in the future, they will think of me smelling divine rather than "what the heck did she wear".

I too have a blue spotted, fleecy robe, £15 from John Lewis - it looks and feels cheap. Creates so much static, every morning I get a playful jolt when I touch a door handle or light switch

This particular Other Planet woman gave a recipe for lobster broth with linguine or some such - broth made with SIX leftover lobster shells she just happened to have lying around.
Yes, dear, we all have half a dozen lobster shells cluttering up the kitchen, so tiresome having to think what to do with them...

Fashion writers live in another world I think. Never take any notice what they say or what they think you should wear for this or that season, lad of tosh.

Michellehargreaves, I always wear perfume too on the basis that whenever my grandchildren smell Opium in future they will think of me. However I know that at least one of them thinks about what I wear too, because she (aged not quite eight) recently told me that I ought to wear brighter colours and not black or navy all the time. Out of the mouths of babes ....

You made me laugh Riverwalk. I get that cheery jolt every time I close the car door. Today is wet so I'm attired in jeggings, gay little ankle boots with purple laces, a North Face all-weather cagoule, with peaked hood, and a nonchalant flowery tea shirt atop (of me, not the cagoule). I would add that I'm just going out but the underwear will stay on all day. Oh I'm not doing well here. Underwear as in what's under the cagoule.

My GD aged 3 also seems to notice what I wear (I only had sons I'm not used to this!) and greeted me one day when I went to mind her little brother with "Why do you always wear the same things, Granny?" I was about to say I didn't then realised I actually did- oldish jeans and a long jumper- clothing resistant to sticky fingers and snotty noses!!

My attire is playful and nonchalant this morning. Navy blue Cotton Traders shorts coming just below the knee, worn with Marks and Sparks grey ankle socks. And an elderly longline navy cardi fastened with a kilt pin in the front.

Ah those kilt pins - now that is a proper playful accessory and the outfit as described would not be half as nonchalant without it.
