I used to teach first aid. I was once asked to talk to a girl guide troop (are they called a troop ?). As part of their badge they had to prepare a first aid box that they could carry when out in the wilds.
I also prepared one to show them what I thought they needed to carry, surprise surprise, mine was empty.
My reason, everything that you need to save a life is about your person, plasters, tweezers etc, never saved a life. CPR, Heimlich manoeuvre, pressure, elevation, talking will and you need very little to apply these, just your hands and mouth.
So, yes, do a first aid course and learn tose simple things that can save life, even you own, as apart from CPR they can all be self administered.
