I've fired up my kindle( it's been sitting in the box since April) and downloaded a book

GOOD NEWS:
Tomorrow the family are descending for Father's Day.

My father in law's cancer doesn't seem to be giving him too much trouble and is treatable (prostate).

My son has a summer job and his exams went well.

I'm recovering my voice.

As long as Summer arrives next week though....that's enough rain for now.?

Parsleywin it's good news because not only are the gardens loving it (mine looks lush and blooming) but also because we really need to fill the reservoirs.

My little GD had her first birthday photo shoot today and was beautifully behaved. She wore her new dress and didn't even try to take off the matching headband. I can't wait to see the photos. That's the good news, and the even better news is that the photographer, who is a friend of my DD, absolutely insisted she was doing this as a gift and wouldn't hear of DD paying her a penny

I leave my job next week. It's been so stressful for so long and since I handed in my notice I have felt like a different person. I think I have been such a misery but now seem to be smiling and laughing again. Hope to find something else after having time to recuperate but if I don't I'm sure we will manage.

My little dog who was better took a turn for the worse! But is now recovering for the second time!

I messaged too soon! The beautiful dry day and evening have given way to another absolute monsoonish episode.

That is good news because... because...

All tarted up our best togs, heading for our Friday night dance.

It's stopped raining here and we are off to Snowdonia next week. Alima Evertheoptimist You will love Sorrento.

Beautiful evening sunlight here! The sky is a very unfamilar blue, everything is very lush and green after all the downpours, and there is actual light and shade rather than a flat dull grey.

My son had job interview yesterday. Got the job with better pay and working conditions then the job he is in at the moment. Hurrah.

Evertheoptimist I'm jealous, we went to Sorrento the other year. loved it, have a picture on the wall in front of me, with the view across the Bay of Naples to Vesuvius from our hotel balcony.

We're off to Sorrento tomorrow for the first time.
AND Northern Ireland won their football match yesterday!

PRINTMISS how cheered you must be that your son is so happy and cared for in the lovely place that is his home. So comforting for you. That is good news.

Sorry about your news Alima but pleased you are getting some support, keep posting. Great news for those concerned about prostate cancer, it can so often be cured if caught early enough, and I believe there are calls for men under the age of 40(?) being tested.
After my thread of yesterday, you might be pleased to hear that our son duly arrived with a bottle of wine and a packet of biscuits, and stayed while is support worker went shopping. He was far more enthusiastic about the fact that England won the football than his dad's birthday-(had his T shirt on, that is how we knew,) and as soon as he had finished his cake and tea, could not wait for Susie to re-appear and take him home. A happy man, thank goodness.

DH and I are in California visiting DS1 and family. It is great to spend time with him, the DGC and our lovely DIL. Lots of games to play, stories to read and I've been on the trampoline!

People being thoughtful and helpful to older people, mums with children and those with heavy shopping on the bus. No sighs, tutting or dirty looks. Refreshing and encouraging.

Lovely reading all the good news. Brings a smile to my face. I met up with my oldest friend (known her since I was 5, many moons ago) and her husband last night and again this lunchtime, and have had a right good catch up.

Three weeks ago DH was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Everything was negative, there seemed no hope from the professionals, so many re-arranged appointments that the calendar has been obliterated. So many tears and the headaches you get when you try so hard not to. Today we had a visit from a lady from a charity which offers support and advice for those suffering from this awful disease. She was so professional, so knowledgeable and so positive she was like a breath of fresh air. She has given us hope. That is all we have so was welcome indeed.
