Shoes for dgs wedding.....help!

When our son married, silverlining, his new wife had 4 grandparents and a step grandmother still fit and well, while DS had no surviving grandparents, and he was the younger of the two. I'm just glad we've had some good genes added to our pool!

I found a perfect pair of size 3 wedge sandals with a tiny diamond in the heel on Ebay! They were tied with grey ribbon at the ankle and perfectly matched the sprigged vintage Laura Ashley dress which I had been altering for the bride and stumbled on these exquisite shoes whilst looking for grey satin ribbon for the sash. She was in her 50's and not someone who dressed up often but it was
pure delight to see her in her beautiful dress twirling all night on the dance floor in her lovely shoes.

I think a slight heel would be more comfortable. jing and I noticed how HM always wears a slight heel.

These are gorgeous and that very unusual beast - a flat but pretty sandal! Not too pricey either.

how wonderful to be going to your grandsons wedding, given the age of many bride and grooms these days i will be over 90 when/if our two little ones tie the knot. sadly no grandparents were present when our two married both aged 33. if very lucky i might get to a graduation as i will be a relatively sprightly i hope, 80 something, that is if there is an extra ticket. heres to keeping fit.
re shoes, whatever you wear, {and i would tie comfy but pretty ivory shoes in with the ivory jacket} enjoy it all.

Thanks for all your suggestions everyone-am about to make mid morning cuppa and sit with iPad for a happy couple of hours. DH is in town all day so I have peace! Hopefully I will have them ordered by lunchtime.

I've just bought these www.clarks.co.uk/p/26114027, wore them for the first time with a dress to a smart lunch in London and they were comfortable all day. They do have a small heel but I actually found them easier to wear for long periods than very flat sandals. If you need really flat ones, Clarks is still a good choice as they do some metallic ones which look smart; I have a couple of pairs of these from last year as well. I always order several pairs online so I don't even have to leave the house - delivery (over £50) and returns are both free!

Hotter. If you use mail order you can order several pairs to try and they are very easy to return. They also have a sale section and also one called Clearance which has some different shoes in it and is found by putting Clearance in the search box. Some of the clearance ones are half price. Some Hotters also come in wider fittings.

I agree about comfort first! I usually wear Hotter or Moshulu to cope with arthritic toe toe joints but have just discovered Rieker shoes. They have some pretty styles in soft leather with comfy insoles. Have a look at them too. Good luck - I find shoes such a nightmare! X

I take size 3, try Hotter many of their shoes can be obtained in that size, very comfortable and pretty.

Have you looked at Indian shoes and sandals? Very pretty beaded decorated flats and sandals.

I wore black patent Rohde mules to my son's wedding. Very comfortable feet = happy smiley Mum!

Wear simple comfortable shoes, if it's any comfort I'll bet not a single guest, if asked the next day, could describe your shoes!

The humungously expensive shoes I bought for DD1's wedding were fine round the house but on the day lasted precisely the length of the service and car ride to the reception where I changed into another (old, but polished) pair I had brought with me.

jenty, you are so right! Comfort first. A smiley happy face is much more important than stylish shoes.

Look at moshulu. Very comfy and a variety of styles and colours.

I wore sandals for my sons wedding I put my comfort before fashion...you can get dressy sandals.....have you looked in the kids shoe section ...try googling theres loads of places that do a size 3 ...
