Cat insurance policy

I received notification today that my cat aged 11's policy was due to be renewed next month. At present I pay £27 something a month and next month the cost will be nearly £35 and I have never claimed.

I find that cost ridiculous and it was taken out with one of the major supermarket chains. It was low to start with and has increased steadily ever since.

I changed because the last company would not pay out when I made a claim.

Has anybody any ideas and could point me in the direction of a company that is reliable? I have looked at moneysupermarket.com and there are definite ideas

With an older cat not only does the premium go up but the excess does as well. I reached a point with one of mine where all her bills were slightly less than the excess so that with the premium I was really paying for her twice. That was when I gave up and started putting money aside for her.

Deedaa it does not make it easy looking after a cat or any animal does it? We try to do our best for them but it is not easy.

phoenix when Tara is in the mood, she could give Hussain Bolt a run for his money!

Took out insurance on ours as there were two of them and they were rescue cats (had never bothered before)But stopped it about 2years ago as it was extortionate Wish wed started a fund for them as soon as we 'adopted'.

I used to have Pet insurance with Animal friends but found that I never claimed on it because the excess usually was equal or slightly less than the bill . I now pay that money directly to the vet by Standing order so when I need it it is there. The excess was £100 ! and of course any disorder that they had ever had was excluded so it just seems like a waste of money . If any of them ever had anything serious I would find the money .

We have to have cat insurance for when we have take the cat and our previous cat to the cattery. We use LV (Liverpool Victoria) and pay £11 per month. Our present cat is 5 years old and I expect the premium will rise as he gets older but surely not to the amount you're paying. We haven't had to make a claim so I can't recommend them on that basis only their charges.
