They are not really alike and nor are their mothers but you can obviously see 'something'!

The sunflower is really eager to please and works hard at school etc. The other one is rather more spirited and, last time they stayed with us, both DH and I displeased her so she stood half way up the stairs wagging both index fingers (one each!) and demanding we 'just stop it'. It was very difficult not to laugh! Characterwise, they take after their mothers too!!

Dgd banged her mouth and had to have a tooth pulled out. She was very excited about the tooth fairy but disappointed that she only got a £2 coin, and not a chocolate penny like Peppa pig!

Other than that there is so much sadness in my heart at today's tragedy. I have no links with Leeds or poor Jo Cox but I keep thinking she is the same age as DD1, and those poor little children

Early start tomorrow as we have Pipsqueak for the day while Toby has a day in London with his Mummy and Daddy. Look out London. DH not great, spent much of today resting in bed and I suspect he may do the same tomorrow. Ah well, only 1DGC I can cope!

Loving the photos of the children. They are all so full of character and just adorable. Very pleased we are spared midges, I seem to be a magnet for flying things that bite and am happy not to be itching. It's been an unexpectedly good day. An aggravation solved very easily, restored my faith in customer service. A lunch with good friends and an unexpected short visit from a granddaughter and her Mum. I'm feeling very sad now, though, reading about Jo Cox. Needless waste of a life. Why oh why? Hope Friday goes well alea and your DH improves, also that you have the energy to enjoy your day with your grandchild. Wishing you some fun. Grandchildren losing teeth here are told the tooth fairy doesn't have this address , same going rate for them, seems a lot to us. I'll creep out now as it's very late and try for some sleep.

Alea my heart goes out to you and your H. While I have my probs, my H at 80 is so very healthy. His blood pressure is always referred to as that of a 21year old. He takes warfarin just because our GP thinks he should at his age and I was morally blackmailed into agreeing.
Until his diagnosis he hadn't seen the inside of a surgery for years and in a full working life only took sick days twice. Once for a bad back after helping a neighbour lay a concrete drive and once with a tooth abscess. Anyone with chronic and very longstanding conditions has my sympathy.
I am very grateful for all this football presently, I am getting some respite from being haunted

Bella has acquired a 'follower' who keeps popping up and intruding joining us to chat. He has obviously fancies her! He's Australian. She finds him annoying. I find it funny. He just ignores me!

Re midges, I have an anti midge cover somewhere in the house. A sort of fine mesh burka. I will be in Shetland in September, depending on the weather I might need it.

Alea its certainly been a week for terrible news.

We were woken early by our granddaughter - see picture. She's breaking in the helmet she will wear today for her Kata. That's like a Karate dance , the moves are choreographed and she must perform them with strength, agility and power . So we are waiting to hear how this first event went . I cant believe that only 3 years ago she was busy being a princess !!

Other than that its a tidy up, and putting away day. Our decorating has meant we have so many things in the wrong place or with no place at all. We've been avoiding it but today we need to get our act together....so if you can think of anything to distract me Id be most grateful [smile}

Lona I had no idea that it was so expensive now if a DGC lost a tooth! At that rate daddy will be looking for another part time job especially if he has any other children.

Oh Alea I am so sorry to hear that your DH is spending more time resting in bed if he does not feel very well. At least you will have your day mapped out looking after one grandchild. You will certainly sleep tonight.

Is Grace upset by the young children or does she find a quieter place to rest her eyes?

I spent yesterday watching tennis and football, no regrets but I need to do a lot around here, especially washing but the weather is not helping. Potential flooding- cannot wait.

I am a member of the local Macular Society and the leader has just died. Nobody is willing to take it on- I certainly will not, I cover for making tea and coffee or collecting dosh. I also have done fund raising and finding speakers so I do not want any more piled on. Because of my past job I have no problems with standing up and speaking to an audience of any size whereas many will not or cannot do it. I think that we may fold.

We pay extra here to have grass cuttings removed, nice if the council kept to their side of the bargain.

Bargain Annie went food shopping yesterday so no real reason to poke a nose out of the front door today.

What a shame that your group may fold Charleygirl but I hold my hand up and say I would not take it on. It can be a thankless task and people seem less willing to commit themselves.
From my children being young I have sat on endless committees from playground on to school PTA's, cubs, scouts, brownies then guides and I would meet the same 12/20 people. Those days have gone now, people lead very busy lives and as a SAHM I had the evenings free to do it but I was always a member and never a leader.

ann I feel as though I am being driven towards taking up the job but I did try to wriggle out of it by saying that surgery for my knee replacement is imminent. For other reasons I will be amazed if it is done this year.

When I joined on day 1 over 7 years ago I had intended to drink my coffee, listen to the speaker and not get involved with any of the runnings of it but that did not happen. Still, I have met some very pleasant people there of both sexes and the core group get on very well.

Oh I know that feeling Annsixty and now I see my daughters heading down the same route in pre school and school committees. Trouble is someone has to do it and my girls see it as a way of influencing( hopefully) for the better their children's environments.

Charleygirl you want to be careful at meetings. I was sitting minding my own business at the target club AGM two years ago when the treasurer said he was definitely retiring and a replacement was needed. Suddenly I found my arm was in the air, not my doing and I was accepted before I realised what had happened. Bit more careful who I sit next to now!

Anlon decided he was really fed up being left at home with me and refused to play (in the gaps between showers), even when OH came home he still sulked.

Had fun at work this morning. I had to do a little sewing (make bags for our products) and I have a new chair for my machine - one with wheels on. I sat down and promptly wheeled backwards. The floor is badly sloped where the machine is and I had to sew with one foot firmly on the ground. Not helped by the fact it is an industrial machine and to raise the foot there is a lever operated by your knee. It took all my concentration to stay in the right position. I have quite a bit to do next week so I will be looking for a solution - as the wall is not far away I think a piece of wood there will stop me going too far.

NanaandGrampy when my daughter was competing (roller skating) I wasn't excited, I was so nervous, not helped when she forgot where she was in her free dance once and stood still for what seemed like hours to me.

I have spent too much of my life being on committees - secretary of this, chair of that. Do I have 'MUG' printed on my forehead? I ran a Weighwatchers group - those of you who know me, stop sniggering NOW! I started two NHR groups, am currently local organiser. When an Amnesty group was formed, who came out of the meeting as secretary? Local politics followed and the rest is history. Thank goodness I was absent from the inaugural meeting of the local U3A! I have kept my fingers well out of that pie.

As I tell my husband when he mentions I'm being bossy organised ...there can be only one Captain of a ship !! He usually mentions the Titanic under his breath at that point ;-)

GandTea I quite agree, it is so nice not to get one's head bitten off or have to produce evidence for some passing remark. I no longer come scuttling back here, the poor sensitive soul that I am but I do keep well clear of one particular poster. She has been pleasant the few times she has added a comment to mine but I am on the look out.

Last week I found that I had offered to do surveys at my GP surgery but my helpfulness was not taken advantage of luckily.
