He doesn't look any the worse for his feeding difficulties!!
He is so alert and obviously loves the parent holding him there.

POGS Mon 13-Jun-16 09:37:40

soop/Mac S

Your number one Lurker here.

Is it me or do your new kitchens require updating qicker these days because you have so many friends loving the warmth and charity they find with you and Mac S they are wearing out quicker and quicker as the years go by?

Happy days in this spanking new kitchen to you all. sunshine

NanaandGrampy Mon 13-Jun-16 09:52:01

Good Morning All !

Thank you Alea it was one I bought 8 years ago for my daughters wedding and I kept it because it was so good for summer weddings. The bit you cant see are wide legged trousers in a chiffon covered fabric. Very cool, non crease and easy to dress up or down. I guess I'll keep it for the next non related wedding smile. I do love a good hat and have worn some corkers over the years . This was one I bought for my brothers wedding 3 years ago, on an alice band so it stays put !

Grampy didn't look too bad although he refused to do up his top button under his tie ( apparently I had shrunk his short !!! Nothing to do with 5 weeks good eating on holiday then ???)

I didn't know you were a football fan Charley ! Ah I see you're not it was a case of nothing else on LOL That's the joy of having been away we have a number of episodes of favourite shows to catch up on and Grampy whilst enjoying the football is happy to watch on his iPad whilst I watch the tv .

Raspberry gin Kitty why have I not heard of this before ????? Will there be some in the kitchen?

Oh dear Alea I can understand how you feel. Sometimes , a thank you is all that is needed to keep on keeping on ! Your dinner sounded wonderful but maybe you are right.... on days when all is too much maybe be kinder to your self and bring in fish and chips? You deserve to have some time too remember.

A day with your little man sounds pretty darn perfect!

Welcome to our new visitors, you have found the right place if you need a little solace for the soul.

We are still unpacking and putting away and my craft room needs a total declutter( mainly because the vast quantity of crafting materials I bought home with me. So that is the job for the day followed by a lovely dinner at our daughters with the older two grandchildren.

Our granddaughter was at a karate competition yesterday and was very proud to have taken 3rd place in the individual kata for her age group. On Thursday she will be representing England in Dublin at a competition so we hope for great things.

Have a wonderful day all !

Alea Mon 13-Jun-16 09:52:51

4 weeks yesterday! He looks so tiny but has passed his birthweight, I just forget how wee they are at that age!

We are also having the pleasure of a visit from this little lady while her parents take her brother on a promised trip to London for the day.
My granny cup runneth over!

Gagagran Mon 13-Jun-16 09:58:49

Good morning all! The new kitchen is looking sparkling clean and bright and as always makes a refuge from all the negativity and backbiting that seems to be the raison d'etre of some GNs.

I have brought a large bunch of sweet peas, grown by my own fair hands from plug plants, for the kitchen table. Such pretty colours and the scent - hmmmm!

I enjoyed all the Royal coverage on TV this weekend. Loved the Trooping of the Colour marching and bands, loved seeing Princess Charlotte (obviously teething!) and Prince George and loved their Mum's gorgeous hat. Not so sure of the day-glo green HM wore - she looks nicer is softer colours I think.

Isn't it nice to know that when you come in the kitchen you can express a liking for something without being shouted down? Thanks to *soop and Macsporran. We are very lucky. sunshine

Judthepud2 Mon 13-Jun-16 09:59:58

Aww! Lovely grandchildren Alea! Like you I find that their innocence can be such an oasis in the turmoil of life's problems. Spending time with my 4 English darlings kept me sane this weekend.

Alea Mon 13-Jun-16 10:02:55

I realised that is quite an old picture and although it is one of my favourites (because there is not a vestige of pink) this is more recent - her first professional haircut!

millymouge Mon 13-Jun-16 10:08:13

I always like to think that little ones bring a little sanity into this world and perhaps they will be able to change it for the better. Although I am not a royalist I must say I thought the Queen looked fantastic for her age, and thought that the pink really suited her. Hope that I look as good at 90!

annsixty Mon 13-Jun-16 10:16:57

Just keep posting Jud in my difficult times I turn here for some light relief and comfort for 15 mins or so and I keep off the grouch threads.
I texted my D to ask if I could plead mitigating circumstances if her Dad was found with "blunt force trauma injuries" (I read a lot of crime fiction) and by the time I had told her what the latest incident was we were both laughing our heads off and she told me to go and have a G&T and I was back to what is now normal for me.
She did think my plea would be accepted!!

annodomini Mon 13-Jun-16 10:23:03

The Queen is right not to settle for pastels. Why shouldn't oldies, no matter how old, wear striking colours? She was certainly visible in her dayglo green and pink. And why not?

annsixty Mon 13-Jun-16 10:27:48

My d obviously rang me to ask what had happened. We don't laugh together by text message blush

annsixty Mon 13-Jun-16 10:31:11

Me again I have just remembered our dear Lona is 70 today.
A very happy day to you and have a large glass of bubbly on me.

Bellanonna Mon 13-Jun-16 10:43:33

Welcome to the decade, Lona - and happy birthday ?

Alea Mon 13-Jun-16 11:06:39

Happy Birthday from me too Lona flowers
New decade, new home? The world is your oyster!

Lona Mon 13-Jun-16 11:30:58

Ah, thank you for those good wishes. I had a family lunch out yesterday with lots of cards and gifts, very noisy thanks to Savannah, who is training to be a foghorn!
Lunch out again today with my bestie and then back to the packing!
Hope ann and anno haven't been flooded today as its been like a monsoon here.
Alea your GC are gorgeous smile

Tizliz Mon 13-Jun-16 11:32:10

Can I come and hide for a while? I have just spent an hour cursing and mentally kicking the printer because it would not recognise the new black cartridge I put in - it actually needed a blue one blush. I haven't told OH, just said I had managed to fix it. He is too busy to notice.

Judthepud2 Mon 13-Jun-16 11:44:06

Happy birthday Lona! Take some time off the packing to enjoy the milestone. flowers cupcake wine

annodomini Mon 13-Jun-16 12:02:02

Happy birthday Lona. Welcome to the septuagenarians' club!

ffinnochio Mon 13-Jun-16 12:04:36

Happy birthday, Lona. Many congratulations. sunshine

Jalima Mon 13-Jun-16 12:18:08

Happy 70th birthday, Lona and welcome to the decade of wisdom wink

I have brought a bottle of damson gin (could it be similar to sloe gin I wonder?).

Alea, I hope you're not wearing yourself out trying to be superwoman - M&S do some very acceptable meals and you cannot do it all! Hope the DGC are helping you keep your pecker up.

No parties here at the weekend so no excuse for a snazzy hat, but we did enjoy a visit from the DGD who enjoyed running around thd garden in the sunshine
It's back to grey skies and rain again today though.

Best wishes to all - love the new kitchen, just what is needed for a peaceful r&r! I hope typos are allowed - cannot seem to get back to correct them.

thatbags Mon 13-Jun-16 12:29:48

Happy Birthday, Lona. I hope you're having a splendiferous day! ???????

Charleygirl Mon 13-Jun-16 12:35:49

Alea that is great that you are going to have time off to get to know that young man. He looks to be a happy soul as does the young lady. He is also growing rapidly. I hope that his parents are getting a decent night's sleep now- he appears to be!

I went to my GP surgery to make an appointment hopefully within the next 4 weeks to discover there had been a cancellation today so I am going early evening. I almost needed a lie down when I heard that. Then a trip to the dentist to make an appointment with the hygienist as well as the dentist. This is all after an early am appointment at the pre admission clinic for my left knee replacement. I have a season ticket for hospitals and surgeries I think.

soop good to see that Queens starts today although the weather maybe a tad against them. Good luck Andy.

Happy birthday Lona have you exchanged contracts yet?

soop Mon 13-Jun-16 13:28:16

Hello to all our lovely kitcheners and very happy birthday wishes to Lona. flowers sunshine cupcake and wine.

Alea Your new grandson looks huggable. I can well imagine how you'll be feeling when you spend time with him. Isn't his "big sister" pretty?

annsixty A sense of humour (when faced with overwhelming temptation to annihilate) is a life-saver. grin

Charleyg That's more like it. Your medical needs are being dealt with promptly and that fact alone will help you to feel marginally better. I've had two guaranteed dates for my procedure. Both have passed. Secretly hoping that, as with the second hip op, I may be lucky enough to be offered a bed in Ross Hall. It was there that I first met bags...she visited me, and we've been pals ever since.

Jalima grin hang on a minute. Damson gin...hmm I shall need to sample quaff a decent measure before giving an opinion. Typos are the least of our worries. My spelling has rapidly gone down hill. Sometimes, the easiest words seem to dump me in a fuddle.

millymouge I believe that a smile is the best anti-ageing remedy. What's more, a smile is free.

Judthepud2 Hold tight to the positive feelings that lift your spirits. Our grandchildren help us to get things into perspective.

Gaga My favourite flower is the sweet pea. My first ever watercolour was of sweet peas. I shall look to see whether I've a photo to share with you.
It isn't the kitchen that is special. It's people like you that should take a bow.

POGS I've lost count of the number of kitchens. For as long as you lot enjoy popping in, we shall keep the door open and there will always be a friendly welcome.

NanaandGrampy Loud cheers from Kintyre for your granddaughter's sporting achievement. We all wish her well in the forthcoming competition. sunshine

Nelliemoser Mon 13-Jun-16 14:21:37

Happy Birthday Lona

soop Mon 13-Jun-16 14:39:51

Gaga I found the first flower portrait. I would have painted it circa 1988. MacSporran suggested I tiddled with his water colour paints...
