I've not been into the kitchen for a few days, I've been quite dispirited by the referendum result but, on the other hand, enthralled by the fall out. Busy, busy with other things too.

So, I've popped in to see how Alea's husband is doing to find that she might end up in hospital too {shock]. Must go and find the thread!!

I'm so glad I didn't stay up to watch the football - I went to bed and read.

How is the move coming along Lona?

I've decided to drop some of my commitments as I will, yet again, miss Wimbledon. And, I do like the 'odd' choc ice!

It's a funny old morning. Damp and dullish and the Care Home residents were, in the main, asleep. However, M together her sister (another M) chatted away together umpteen to the dozen. Two elderly ladies with the broadest of Scottish accents and very different memories. We did smile a lot. Everything takes on a different complexion when smiles are forthcoming.

number Snap! I iron every item that has been washed. Including face cloths and dish cloths. My mother did likewise.

Hello again, kitty. I too am thinking of Alea and her husband and Lona with her imminent move to the new apartment with a balcony and view of a well-tended garden.

I'm about to catch up with a match or two at Wimbledon. I'm wanting to know when Andy's match will take place.

oldgoat Nope! I may be potty (sometimes) but not totally deranged. I remember buying a beautiful silk blouse with one of my first pay cheques. In a moment of madness, I decided to "freshen" iron it. The moment the iron touched the fabric, the blouse was ruined. I wept. A lesson learned the hard way.

I'm another omni-ironer (except socks and bras) soop, just like my mum too, and I get a lot sad of satisfaction from a pile of freshly ironed laundry. Neither of my dcs wish to continue the tradition!

Can we have a Brexit-free zone in the kitchen? My head's spinning--and I'm fed up to the back teeth hearing about it already ?--

I might take up Magnum-munching as a new pastime.....which ones are the best?

Andy has won today's game. I'm smiling. Have my ironing duties to attend to tomorrow morning. I'm saying farewell for now. I shall join you in the kitchen the moment I return home.

Soop, I don`t iron face cloths and dishcloths, but I do iron dusters! Many years ago, I watched in astonishment as my SIL ironed socks and NAPPIES!
I had a very surreal experience last night. I`d been tossing around in bed, unable to get to sleep, then just before 4am, when I was just dropping off, a TV started blaring out full blast. A t first I thought it was next door, then realised it wasn`t, then thought that hubby had woken up and put his on, but when I got out onto the landing I realised that it was this TV in here, switching itself on and off with alarming frequency. I tried pressing the mute button, but every time the telly came bak on again, so did the sound. I finally managed to turn the volume button down to zero, but the TV was still going on and off, so I stayed down here in case the flipping sound came back on as well. When hubby got up at 7.30 I went back up to bed, managed a couple of hours sleep. Any technophobes with any ideas of what happened? The TV is back to normal now, says she, hopefully!

PS, if anyone is wondering why I didn`t just unplug the thing, it`s like Spaghetti junction in that corner, and I can`t get down far enough to sort out which wire and plug is which.

Why do I always get phone calls and miss the winning point when Andy plays? (grumpy face too)

Kitty I have changed my moving date to the 9th now, as it doesn't look as though we will be exchanging until the beginning of next week. I've made certain of the flat by paying a months rent up front, as I've no intention of signing the lease until my house sale is certain.
Stress levels are still high, but at least housework is not needed when the house is full of boxes!

I will stay in sluts corner, I never iron unless I am really forced to do it. Think of the electricity I am saving.

I am having vinyl flooring fitted in my kitchen tomorrow pm- that will make me happy as it will be another job ticked off the long list.

Lona it never seems to end does it? Still the end is now in sight. I think that you have done the correct thing by paying a month's rent up front to secure the flat. At least it is "summer" when you are moving and not the middle of winter.

number that sounds spooky ! I'm afraid I would have woken Grampy and sent him down armed with a plastic tennis racket from the grandchildren's room and Sam ( guard dog extraordinaire) and I would have locked ourselves in the bathroom !!

Lona I thought of you yesterday when our valuation didn't happen but we sat around waiting for 2 hours before I realised Id missed the call saying the lady was sick. We had a stressful morning getting the house together so I totally feel for you whilst you wait for everything to be finalised.

Today we are having DGS3 and we will be going on a 'venture' ( weather permitting !!) This will involve pirate hats, a small dog, a country park and an ice-cream !

Good morning All. Composed a post yesterday evening and it vanished - where is the land of lost posts? Let's see if this morning is better. As I posted on another thread I am unusually energised at the moment. Busy day Monday and out all day yesterday, I would usually be flagging but still raring to go. I know I should pace, and I will, but not today, out again for most of it, in the rain by the looks of things. Have been wondering about aleas's husband, hope he is improving. My head still won't remember everyone's news but as I remember our last move with a shudder I have my fingers still crossed for lona, which could be why the post disappeared . Hang on in here, it can't be too long now and experience tells me it's unlikely that worrying will change the outcome. Yes, I know it's easier for me to say than for you to do. I too am an ironing freak. Basically if it's not moving it will get ironed. My clothes then go back into an overfull wardrobe and come out - creased. There's a hint in here about some wardrobe rationalisation, maybe tomorrow . number your tv is definitely a one off - hope it's behaving now. You sound far more relaxed about it than I would be, Think I'd be getting it checked out, just in case of what I'm not sure, but just in case I've left some warm croissants if anyone else is about. Hope your day is good everyone.

number That was most definitely a spooky experience. I sympathise with you regarding not being able to scrabble around on the floor. Once down, I have enormous difficulty with getting back on to my feet. My left knee is bothersome.
Climbing my pal's steep stairs in order to put her freshly ironed stuff in the bedroom (takes an awful long time) and I curse my bones as I go.

Oh dear, the lost posts. Whenever it happens to me, I get everso slightly rattled.

Please could we have just a little summer. I don't know what it is like in the rest of the country, but here in Essex it is cold, very windy and wet. A trip to town this morning and people were wearing coats and jumpers. I am not a tennis fan but I do feel for those who have tickets. July is nearly here so summer really needs to start soon.

Unless I sit and watch TV this evening with a coat on, I would not be surprised if I have to switch on the heating for an hour or two. I am trying to save gas by using less heating as well as saving on electricity by not ironing anything. It has stopped raining here but it is still dull and miserable.

I have had a busy day- BP check at GP surgery, dental hygienist and then the dentist. Drove home as I was expecting the vinyl fitter and he came within 30 minutes. My new kitchen floor is lovely and by some miracle I chose the same colour as my work top surface.

I am looking forward to the match between Federer and Willis later. That will be the exact moment when a friend who is not interested in any sport will ring me.

Game is about to start. I've no ice cream but I am in an upbeat mood. Counts for a lot...an upbeat mood.

Willis looks like a lovely chap, nice smile and a pleasure to watch. It must be warmer at Wimbledon. I saw one spectator wearing a sun dress while I am huddled up in a thick cardi and about to light the fire.

charleygirl glad the flooring is just what you wanted. Think it's a good idea to cut down on the ironing to save electricity, think I might try that. I am rather a one for ironing nearly everything.

charleygirl - disable the phone! And I have just put the heating on. It's really cold although DH doesn't agree with me. Tells me to put more clothes on. I've got enough on already!

What a wonderfully entertaining match. My spirits have been lifted sky high. Willis is charming. I trust that he'll continue to improve.

So cross at missing today's big match - they were just leaving Centre Courtvas I got in.
DH is still a prisoner in MKH and has had a couple of bad nights largely because of 3 other men in his 6 bed bay disturbing the others. 1sweet chap has bad dementia, talks a lot, meanders around, looking for his car keys, his money or anybody who will buy him a set of power tools as he has jobs to do(!) and occasionally makes a bid for freedom, he has a nurse sitting by his bedside all night. Another is a younger, but I think also very disturbed man, he was shouting the odds last night and eventually security were called. DH said they must have given him a shot of something because he quietened down then, but the damage was done. The third patient needed constant supervision because he had a breathing tube and was restless with a nurse sitting with him all night too.
So I had a quiet word with the charge nurse and they moved DH from the "supervised" bay into a quieter bay, where the men seem very chatty but will shut up overnight. Very glad as DH was looking grey with fatigue after 2 bad nights.
