Should I have paid the Senior Rate - or am I a cheat?

Usually organisations will define what they mean by it- I would take it to mean in receipt of the State Pension I suppose. Don't worry about it though.

It's always meant 60. Government can't change that.

I wouldn't worry Katy, they were obviously happy to take your money or they wouldn't have given you a ticket. We all need all the compliments we can get!

I would complain. It was an offensive and ageist remark.

The person concerned has a steotyped and inaccurate idea of what anyone of a given age looks like. All older people (over 60s) are not necessarily all over weight, grey hair and wrinkly (I have seen 40 somethings that that description could cover). Aging is a complex process, made even more complex by hair colouring, make up and beuty treatments.

As I said, complain. I would.

And we're back with offensive! I wish that word could be scrapped from the dictionary.

Unless it's stipulated, I always assume it's 60 or over (it usually is, anyway). It's bad enough having to wait till I'm 66 for my pension and bus pass - in my situation every little definitely does help!

And I would never complain about someone trying to give me a compliment. Doesn't happen often enough, unfortunately.

I got my pension at 60 so I assume a senior ticket starts at 60.

I'd accept the compliment and the cheap ticket.

Opinion seems to be that 60 is the relevant age, so I didn't cheat, got in at a reduced price 'cos of me age' and got a compliment chucked in as well, brill....
