I am and always have been a staunch supporter of Gransnet. I enjoy the challenge of coming across views different from my own, the humour, the kindness, the wealth of experience and the openness of debate and other interactions. I am deeply dismayed that a thread, so patently started without malice, but with a deliberately eye catching title, has been reported by someone and that Gransnet HQ has responded by censuring Pompa/*GandTea*, rather than telling the person who reported it that the content of the post was evidently innocuous and humorous and no action need be taken.
GandTea - stay, please.

pompa I didn't know you are GandTea, whom I think of as an informed and amusing poster - and edgy with it. A great mix, and it would be such a pity if you were to leave.

I'm not sure what a "normal" GN is Af but as a group I would hope we could all be accepting of each others' turns of phrase. Why would someone be unpleasant enough to report something so very innocuous?

I've noticed quite a few posters who prefer to keep things light-hearted (myself included) are not seen around as much these days. Hardly surprising is it?

We need people like you to inject a bit of humour - and as thatbags says, using edginess in this way makes people think. The mindless twerp who reported you hasn't got the first idea how to think. I had the experience of some lovely member writing an anonymous letter to my boss, I can only think that for some reason (which is beyond me) they were hoping I'd be sacked.

I was very tempted to leave GN, but decided that I would stay for 2 reasons, one because I didn't want to let that person "win" and secondly because the nice people on here far outnumber the other type.

If you opt out, you will not have the chance to get us back on track. Stay with us, speak your mind, because we know you can do that without hurting people, or being racist or anything else ist. Come on, show us the way.

Same here. But as an earlier poster said "please apologise" I don't think you have anything to apologise for. You gave no offence. People sometimes decide to take it. Or, as is likely, "people" in the singular. am I right? You are feeling bruised, hopefully you'll feel differently tomorrow. Thanks for always having a sense of humour. Please don't come back with another name: Pompa, Bogoff, GandT. Too confusing. Just keep the last one and if I had some in the house id raise a glass to you and exhort you to stay.
