I'm sorry pompa. You are stuck with it.
What has survived in your garden with minimal or no watering?
Wildfires in Turkey and Greece
If you were given £10k to spend on your bedroom , what would you buy?
I have been a member and regular contributor to GN since its inception, many of you will know me as Pompa.
I have always tried to be helpful to those that need it where my skills are appropriate. I have always been compassionate to those in trouble and always tried to inject a little humour into my posts.
I am not racist, feminist or any other form of ist (perhaps a bit of a pessimist now)
In all the years I have been here I have not knowingly been reported.
But I have now been reported ( I guess for racism because of my humorous thread in the Gardening forum regarding immigrant Spanish slugs.
GN is no longer the great site it used to be, it has become very unpleasant on many threads, dominated by a few posters.
Many GNers are now afraid to post for fear of verbal retribution.
Humour that is in the least edgy is condemned by a few.
Please, please will those Gners that want GN to become the fun site that it was again please speak up.
I am now leaving GN, I'm sure that there are those that are now cheering as they have won, but to the rest of my friends,
Love
Pompa
I'm sorry pompa. You are stuck with it.
pomps has no idea of the picture of him I had in my head (of GandTea). She is/was about 59, and has/had tightly curled light ginger hair. And a slightly gin sodden look about her.
I'm not sure I can change that picture now.
But at least it made a welcome break fro all the dreary tub thumping going on!!
Anniebach -- Please Please do not report Grumpa, the silly old Duffer doesn't know what he is saying. You need far more ladies than we have here to form a regiment. Ducks behind sofa with grumpa.
Nighty Night
I haven't noticed any clear reincarnations. This could be because reincarnations of people I don't know don't bother me. Why would it? Shrug.
Aint no bees in my bonnet though there was one buzzing around in the wood stove this morning that had to be let out and then caught in a jar and escorted from the house.
I'm one 'guilty' of changing username quite often, though not for a while now, but it's all there—with some embroiderings to provide gossip fodder for anyone who wants some—in my profile for anyone to see. I don't expect many people do.
merlotgran I also like to lead a simple life and I had not worked out that GandTea had been pompa I have "met" some incredibly nice people on line who have backed me in a couple of times of adversity and also face to face when we have monthly coffee meet ups. I do not give a thought what they may have used as a name on line before.
GandTea, thanks for your comment, and I totally understand in your case and hope you will stay, sincerely.
It's jsut that some leave and change names, again and again, and again- and this does lead to constantly wondering who is who, speculation and 'gossip' by pm, which is not positive imho.
There are some new posters recently who are clearly reincarnations. I'm quite sure about not, still wondering about the other. If this happens all the time, it does stir bees in some bonnets- and not just mine, I can assure you.
Do stay- please.
Same here, Merlot - and you can't change your name 'by accident' granjura. You left and had to rejoin with your present username. Please let it rest.
And some people will always get the wrong end of the stick and beat other people about the head with it.
I shall report you grumppa, I do think you should have said a monstrous regiment of ladies ,
GrandTea, I didn't read your thread sorry because I thought there would be advice of how many ways there are to kill slugs - and I am squeamish . Anyway, if you enjoy being here then stay , not worth getting knickers in a twist is it really ?
Firstly, granjura I never trouble myself wondering who this person is from before.... I had a conversation with Grand Tea on another thread yesterday and didn't give his/her identity a second thought.
Secondly, I have also never had a pm asking, 'Do you realise who this is?'
Now this may make me 'Billy No-Mates' but I'm happy to carry on in blissful ignorance and take people at face value.
Hello all, back from Ukulele club, and we did play Oh Boy.
I do not intend to make any comment regarding the posts apart from explaining the apparent change of name.
I was Pompa for several years, but I had said too much about myself over that time and was getting negative posts simply because every one knew me too well. As a man I was getting criticism that would not have been levelled at a female poster. I became very disenchanted and decided I had enough as I was not enjoying it any longer, I de-registered my account so it could not be re-opend. After a few weeks I has second thoughts and decide to re-join, I had to open a new account and decide to keep my details somewhat more private that before.
So I don't believe I have broken any GN rules. I have never taken any advantage of having a previous account and have never referenced any previous post by Pompa.
I leave it to GN to decide if the rukes have been broken and if the thread I started under the Garden thread should be deleted as I have requested.
wie? hic....meant

Hear, hear! [wie]

A ha, I wondered who Gandtea was.
Some people simply don't comprehend humour. Some people just like finding upset where none was intended. Some people will walk a mile barefoot over hot coals just to say they feel hurt.
The thing is Gandtea/pompa, when you look in a mirror you won't see that person looking back! Ignore the 'some people' they are not worth it .
As you well know, the switch was just an 'accident' and fooled no-one. If I wanted to fool anyone- I wouldn't have just switched the jura and the gran, really!
There are some here who have had at least 3 totally different names since I joined and possibly more.
What's going on? People changing names - Pompa becoming GandTea, accusations of racism, letters to phoenix's boss, nasty e-mails - I didn't know all this stuff was going on? Anyway, Pompa, don't dare hang up your laptop and leave us all to it, we need you!!!
In what way Merlot?
We can disagree, even strongly, at times- but this has nothing to do with trust as such. New names appear with views and styles which really remind you of someone- and you keep wondering 'who on earth is this person actually, from before'.
You are who you are, and it will always come out, somehow.
Again, this is not specifically about GT(not GN sorry) - but it seemed the obvious place to say this (yes i know, again- because it keeps happening). It also leads to many pms re 'you do realise who this is, who used to be x, and before that y...
juragran in Greatnan's day, granjura today.
Several GNetters have left and rejoined over the years for a variety of reasons including compromised anonymity and as you are not allowed to have the same name a second time their name has perforce had to change.
I know what you are going to retort granjura!so you can save your breath to cool your porridge. Some people can't see a bonnet without adding the requisite bee.
And whatever do you mean
iI certainly hope GN does not leave?
we want everyone to be able to trust the relationships they build up with others on Gransnet.
I think today has proved that statement to be a bit of a pipe dream.
grumppa you had better stay behind that sofa! A monstrous regiment of women? Excuse me but the vast majority of us are sweet and lovely!!!!
??
Never talked about 2 names, but about so many changing names, again and again for some. Here is what the GN rules say, and I totally agree. Not having a go at GT, but the basic principle- for the reasons GN state:
*Username-changing
We don’t allow members to change their usernames because we want everyone to be able to trust the relationships they build up with others on Gransnet.*
I certainly hope GN does not leave.
Don't go! We men on Gransnet need each other, if only to counterbalance the monstrous regiment of women (ducks for cover and awaits being reported).
granjura, Pompa didn't have two names. He left GN and came back again later. You do seem to have a bee in your bonnet about name-changes on here!
