Crewel curtains

It was some years ago, but I bought crewel curtain fabric in John Lewis. It were not cheap, in current prices probably about £40 a metre plus. Fortunately we had just bought an old house with quite small windows so only needed about 3 metres of fabric.

We hope we will be moving house in the next month. The bungalow we are buying has various curtains there, and they are all OK except for the bedroom where they are horrid. I am on holiday in Wales at the moment and the cottage we are in has some lovely crewel curtains - cream on cream. I have looked for similar on line but failed to find what I like - and the cost is unbelievable! Has anyone ever bought these and did they manage to get them at a reasonable price?
