Soop's KITCHENERS

Thanks for the welcome, Soop. Unfortunately the deer can jump over our fence - or they may just walk up the drive as the gate is nearly always open. Our garden is fairly wild - if you can tell where the garden ends and the field begins we're winning.

We also get foxes, badgers, rabbits, squirrels and lots of birds which are all lovely to see. The creatures we have least time for are moles - we seldom actually see them but keep seeing the evidence that they're around.

I love the way Rory has taken to Bracken. My D has just taken the mother of her two cats. The owners can no longer care for her.
They are about 15 mths and she is about 3. It is like introducing a new baby to the family. Mum is kept in one room and the other two are allowed to sniff through the door. She changes bedding from one bed to another each day. Such a palaver. There are contingency plans if she doesn't settle, someone is waiting in the wings take her. J says she is a very pretty little thing, her kittens are huge, like small tigers.

Charleyg We used to hand feed the deer with apple. Someone then mentioned that they may become too tame. We wouldn't want them coming into the garden and heading for the road.

Rory was engrossed in grooming Bracken last night. She appeared to be enjoying the attention.

soop I am so pleased that the xray will be this week. That is one advantage of not living in London- it would be 6 weeks + here.

The deer is more than happy to scratch herself on an obliging branch. She looks almost tame.

kitty I do not know which thread you were on for the upset but some people really are so rude. I have been known to want to brandish a sharp sword and I really am usually mild mannered.

I do hope that Rory is not overdoing things- aka MacSporran's view!

Hello dustyangel...the X-ray is to establish why the left shin bone hurts (a lot). I haven't injured it. And, I still think that either the hip or knee may be damaged. We shall see.
The right leg is a little under an inch shorter than the left. The right foot turns in when I walk. It always has done. The falls happened because the right foot tripped me A over T. Sigh!

Lovely photos soop, the deer obviously feels very safe with you and MacSporran.She does look as if she is checking out the plants the other side of the fence though.

I'm really pleased that you are going to have an x-Ray and that it will be this week. Last year I seemed to have a cluster of falls for not always obvious reasons. It was scary and I started worrying about my balalance and feeling old and doddery!
I had to try a new chiropractor and he said that I was not lifting one foot as much as the other when I walked. Probably caused by something I'd done in the first fall. I felt like a spring lamb after one treatment. .
I know that you have this problem already and it would only take a tiny imbalance to make you more vulnerable.

Alea I'm glad your family is being well cared for. It will be good when you can actually see for yourself. ( and come and tell us all about it afterwards. )

Nana and Grampy your grandsons look so happy and very good to stand still and be photographed by granny too.

kitty Please stay as long as you like. I've a feeling that I'm ill equipped to comment on a current thread. I do not take offence unless someone is downright rude to me or someone for whom I have high regard. Therefore, if I'm addressed politely, I have no objection to the language used. Hello varian and a very warm welcome to the kitchen. Do the deer walk in your garden? "Our" visitors stay on the other side of the garden fence. Our garden borders a wee forest.

Deer are beautiful but the two who visit our garden have eaten our roses!

Alea Both mum and baby are being well cared for. I'm pleased that the hospital allow dad to stay. It must be very reassuring to have the family together after such a stressful few days.
Please take photos for us lot...and, when you know the little man's name, do share with us please. That also goes for loopylou's wee grandson.

NanaandGrampy Jackson and Cooper are adorable. They have sweet/mischievous expressions.. Just perfect at their age. It's kind of you to give us regular updates.

Crafting I cannot recall when I last enjoyed a crumpet (dripping with butter)...any going spare?

I've just had a call from the hospital. X-ray on Friday morning.

Another visit from the deer this morning. Such a beautiful, graceful creature.

Alea that does sound good if DD and SIL can stay in hospital until Friday. With luck they will both catch up sleepwise but it will be many, many years before she can fully relax again!!!!!

Sorry to hear that the little chap has an infection but as you mentioned, he is with his mum and not been taken to SCBU.

With luck you will find out his name tomorrow when you visit. We are all ears.

NanaandGrampy you are going to have mega problems persuading Jackson and Cooper when it is time to go home as I have a feeling that they may be thinking that this is their life now! They really are having the time of their lives- outdoors most of the time so no doubt they sleep very well at night. It seems to work out well for the adults, time off while the other set baby sit and vice verse.

Morning all. I'm sitting waiting for a delivery so can't go out. As it's pouring with rain here I'm not that bothered. I'll make a brew and toast some crumpets if anyone wants some.

Alea what great news!! I bet you can't wait! I think also it's an opportunity to check for yourself that your DD is fine. I know I wanted to both see the new arrival AND check ' my' child was fine too lol. Once a mum always a mum eh?

I am very sorry I have been neglecting all you lovely lot but my mind has been distinctly elsewhere. Yesterday was largely taken up with phone calls, emails, pictures and texts!
We are going to meet our new little man tomorrow!! DD is still completely wiped out by her harrowing 3 day labour and (I believe) a traumatic delivery with little DGS becoming distressed. They are likely to be in hospital until Friday which is a huge relief to me but it is also because DGS has a cannula (ouchy!!) for antibiotics as he seems to have some sort of infection. He is in with DD, not in special care or in an incubator so I don't think it is serious but he will be monitored. DD frankly needs to sleep for about 4 weeks - fat chance! The hospital are letting SIL stay in with his wife and baby which is very humane and caring I think. Youngest DD sat and cuddled DGS for 2 hours yesterday after work to let his mummy and daddy sleep. I am so proud of the support she is giving them.
soop I am very relieved you are being check d over and hope it is just st a formality, but better to be safe etc etc. Please, pretty please, take care of yourself.
Now I am not going to talk about a another thread, but <whisper> feel we have some uninvited guests (is it unworthy of me to hope they don't find the kitchen and bring their anger with them?)

Even when mummy and daddy bought them storm trooper guns I was grateful.

I cannot begin to imagine how those estranged or unable to see their grandchildren feel but I certainly count my blessings every day xx

Am very glad to hear you're getting an X Ray soop better to be safe than sorry. I loved the story of the pram and dolly at the care home. What a kind gesture. It sometimes just takes so little.

We are having a lazy day after being sole careers of the dynamic duo yesterday. But I took this picture on their way out ( they have gone to meet alligators ....as you do !) .

Those of you familiar with Dr Suess will recognise Thing 1 & 2 .

Sounds as if your doc is a sensible one soop, fingers crossed for the outcome. I always advise others to get things checked - don't always take my own advice though. Sorry loopy I missed your baby news. Congratulations to everyone.

soop I am so pleased that you will be having an xray to check your hips. Hopefully it will take place before you go to hospital in the very near future for surgery.

I have been at a meeting at my GP surgery for hours- of course when the sun was shining. Now that I am home, having popped into Waitrose to buy something for my supper tonight, it looks as though the heavens may open. The children are not out playing so Tara may come home earlier than usual.

Back from seeing the doc. Am to have an X-ray.

'Tis piddling with rain and chilly with it. Never mind, we've had a goodly share of sunshine recently.

rosesarered it's good to have you back with us. It seems an age since you last visited the kitchen.

Alea that baby is adorable. A little darling. I can almost feel him cupped in my embrace.
Yes, you are right. After all that the new parents have been through, (you too) a time for relaxation is a must.
Us lot will need regular updates, mind. And that also goes for loopylou's new addition to the family.

The care home ladies were in good spirits. W, who enjoys constanly walking around (somewhat unsteadily) has been given a proper pushchair, in which sits a gorgeous doll. W came and went with a smile on her face. The carer who thought to give her something with which to concentrate on, together with offering much-needed stability, deserves a pat on the back.

I've made an appointment to see the doc. Just need to know that the recent tumbles haven't done too much harm to the hip replacements. My confidence has been shaken.

Have left some of our surfeit of warm croissants if anyone would like one. Guaranteed to be calorie free, unlike those in my kitchen . Need the energy for the ironing and a trip to the tip, oops mean re-cycling centre. Not sure how anything we will take can be re-cycled, though. Quite like the ironing, dislike the tip, always chaotic and oh so smelly, it will pass though and not so bad in the scheme of things. Been watching the birds, nothing exotic, usual garden birds but they do make me smile. Good start to my day. Onwards. The ironing board calls.
