Impulse buy

That is so me! My family is always winding me up about my store of scented candles, I have dozens in all sizes. I just don't like burning them as they look so pretty, hate seeing them all melted with bits of burnt, black wick on the top

Your so right ajanela one of the saddest things I did last year was help clear out my MiL house when she went into a residential home. The house was jammed packed with things she 'saved for best,' never used and now probably winging its way to a recycling dump. It was so sad I hope to at least learn from her mistake.

Yes we are worth it. Now use it.

Because our other problem is we are keeping it for best!

I agree with you all ladies. We have got to the time in our lives when we should start to treat ourselves. I too bought a large bottle of Jo Malone perfume at Duty Free recently and immediately felt guilty, but then realised it was about time I started to treat myself as I am sure all the bits and bobs I buy for my 7 grandchildren and 3 daughters would soon come to the same amount. Plus the bottle looks so nice on my bathroom self and smells lovely when I give myself a quick spritz in the morning. So the moral of the story ladies is "we're worth it"!

I'm very excited about it now! Got confirmation of dispatch from Debenhams today so can't wait. I've even tidied out my current bag for a quick transfer when new one arrives.

Katek. Great minds think alike I bought that exact same bag from Very a couple of weeks ago. Luckily for me I managed to get it a bit cheaper with a £25 off code! It is such a pretty bag, keep it and enjoy it. I love mine and have already had some lovely comments on it

Very pretty bag - nowt wrong with indulging yourself now and then, though I'm a fine one to talk. More than once I've told dh that I saw something nice in a shop, but didn't buy it. He likes taking the right royal p*ss - invariably says something like, 'Quite right - if it's REALLY nice, and you REALLY like it, don't for heaven's sake buy it.'
Though I did treat myself to a pair of white linen trousers in M & S yesterday...

Saxifrage, I love that Strawberry thief design - we recently had an old easy chair re-covered in the red version. Looks lovely. And there was enough fabric left over for the seat of a very old piano stool that had been languishing in our loft for ages, covered in tatty old pale blue dralon.

KateK - I saw the exact same back in Debenhams and also fell in love with it. I thought I'd do the rest of the shopping and then go back and buy it - but I forgot. How silly is that? I bet they will have sold out by the time I get there again. Or I could go on line...........

How pretty I love butterflies .I don't think twice about spending ridiculous sums on the DDs but hesitate when it's for me .Stupid as we are not short of money .
However the recent and all too early death of my only,and younger, sibling is making me rethink my attitude .

katek, why ever would you feel guilty? I'd be delighted if it was me. I have a pretty butterfly bag too, from Laura Ashley about five years ago. It's more of a small hold-all really and I find it useful if I'm going away for a short time. Tegan, you should use thst bag, it's really pretty.
Going back to katek, did you post last year about some pretty pink flat shoes? I thought they were lovely and wondered why you were hesitant about them, as I had some similar ones. Apols if it wasn't you, as it may gave been the lady with a very similar name! Go on, enjoy that bag?

I bought this carpet bag from a yard sale a couple of years ago; had been well loved by it's previous owner. I've never used it but I love carpet bags and I just wanted to give it a home. Would be ugly in a lot of peoples eyes but I love it.

i've lived by that rule for many years and have absolutely no guilt whatsoever in spending my money on me!
whether it's clothes, handbags [although i only use one which goes with me everywhere], food or chocolates if i want it then i'll buy it.
it all adds to the feel-good factor in you - and if you feel good then everything is good ................ we all deserve a treat now and again.
glad to hear you're keeping the handbag - whether you use it or not you know you've got it and that it makes you feel happy.

I think you should keep the bag. I am the world's worst for NOT spending money on myself. I can afford nice things, but after a lifetime of thriftyness I just can't spend! If I stop to admire something in the shops, hubby wants me to buy it, but I think I don't deserve it. My aunt was just the same. I must take after her, as my mother was able to enjoy spending on herself.

Enjoy it - it's a lovely bag, the sun is out, life is short, we all need a little unplanned indulgence, never regret doing happy things....I could go on but that's enough.

That is so pretty Katek. Definitely keep it, it's perfect for summer, and I know I would make good use of it!

Don't feel guilty KateK. What is life without a bit of self-indulgence? I felt slightly guilty about the Jo Malone scent I bought a couple of weeks ago, but soon got over that. It's better for me than the huge number of chocolate bars I could would have bought with the money.

Love the bag! Sounds like you are not impulsive so the bag must have called to you ?. I am impulsive about buying make up and regretting it! My DD always asks if I bought it with my birthday money (which she knows I have spent 6 times over) and we laugh.

No need for guilty feelings - just enjoy. We have worked hard all our lives, raised children, cared for parents and still care for grandchildren. Time to spoil and treat ourselves.... Just talked myself into going to Debenhams!!

I think it is lovely. I have to have bags big enough to get my medical gear in and if it is pretty too that is a bonus
