I'm very good at it today. I have loads to be doing but being on here and ebay looking for dog clothes seems so much more inviting than doing what I should be doing.

Anyone else putting off what they should be doing today? grin

Procrastinating for me has turned into not doing anything around the house until its bothering me! Seems my priorities have changed. The less I do the more I don't do. Should I worry? All those books I haven't read, recipe books and recipes I've saved never to be read or cooked. I've collected recipes for years thinking someday I'll make it. I'm running out of time! Seems kinda sad but don't see me on my death bed though saying dang I should of made that pasta recipe!

I am a great procrastinator, in fact the only emails guaranteed to be answered are those at work, because I would be seriously behind in my job if they weren't.
But I can't get the enthusiasm to answer my own emails ! Is that perverse or something .?
I respond to texts, but the thought of having to trawl through emails at home sends me running out of the door to procrastinate in a cafe in real time, and read the paper

I used to be very decisive now I'm not so sure!!!

I have always believed in "Never put off till tomorrow anything that can safely be put off until the day after". smile

I am constantly writing lists and crossing off things I've done to make me feel I've achieved something. I even write down the things I've done so that I can cross them off at once!!!

Small (over-bred?) dogs can get chilly. Nothing wrong with keeping an animal warm. Dog coats (and horse blankets) have been around for years. Why not tee-shirts?

Yes. I think procrastination can be down to depression. Why get started on the day when there's nothing worth doing? And no point in any of it?

I need a 'project' to get me going properly. Trouble is, finding one that enthuses me! Other times, I just do things because of guilt feelings (duty)

'procrastination is the thief of time' one of my Mother's fave sayings when I was a child.

When I worked, one million years ago, my boss had three trays: - "In", "Out" and "Too Difficult"... Talk about procrastination. He was lovely though!
I procrastinate mostly when it is "too difficult" like now - should be doing my 'homework' for my adult Education classes. Perhaps, having confessed, I shall do it now? Don't hold your breath...

I'm trying to avoid sorting out the VAT - but a fine from HMRC wouldn't be good so I'd better push myself!

Nelliemoser Sun 24-Apr-16 14:12:37

I just can't be bothered to procrastinate.

chrissyh Sun 24-Apr-16 13:20:23

Why do we feel guilty if we are not doing anything we call 'useful'. I read recently that a day doing nothing is not a day wasted if you enjoy it. This is my mantra.

morethan2 Sun 24-Apr-16 12:52:05

Radicalnan I wonder about it being a sort of depression too? Hmm hmm but what's to be done if it is?

ooonana Sun 24-Apr-16 12:43:27

Talk about procrastinating, I've just returned from visiting my lovely daughter, husband and 3 year old grandson in Australia, having been out there for ten weeks. I have a son, married in London with 2 children. I'm a 16 yr widow, age 66 trying to decide whether to change visas for Australia to be able to spend half my life there. Not 100 per cent happy where I live, but am so scared to make life changing decisions .....anyone any ideas?

Redheadcat Sun 24-Apr-16 12:38:33

I have been a procrastinator and list lover all my life. Have just become a grandmother (6 weeks ago) and it is a lovely feeling! Have to say am enjoying being part of gransnet and its lovely to hear there are many other fellow procrastinators out there. Maybe it is mature subconscious defiance as izzypopbottle said!

It's so reassuring when I realise I am not the only one.

Skweek1 Sun 24-Apr-16 12:17:05

Each Sunday morning I sit listening to the radio over tea/coffee, writing timetable of all the things I'm going to do this week. Somehow drink goes cold and that puts everything back a week. But tomorrow I'll catch up with myself! . . .

Lona Sun 24-Apr-16 11:57:02

I hate appointments because I can only put them off for a limited time!
I'm drinking coffee now, on GNet, when I should be making a meat pie. Hey ho smile

henetha Sun 24-Apr-16 11:41:48

Yes, I think it is, radicalnan. I've thought that too. Some days it's hard to motivate ourselves to do anything at all, isn't it. I am far better on the days when I have a definite appointment or outing planned.

radicalnan Sun 24-Apr-16 11:37:27

I wish I was happily married to someone with OCD I don't want to do any work at all now. I was so much better when I was looking after other people, now its just me I can't be bothered..........is it depression of a sort?

henetha Sun 24-Apr-16 11:35:31

I think we should be allowed to procrastinate on Sundays. It is a day of rest grin
That's my excuse anyway. I am a world class procrastinator.

mollie Sun 24-Apr-16 11:28:52

Nearly lunch time and I'm still not dressed...only just got up after spending several hours reading in bed. I felt a bit guilty at all the sitting about but OH reassured me this is what older people do...so now I don't feel quite so bad.

Misha14 Sun 24-Apr-16 11:22:56

Procrastinating is good, but so is getting stuff done. I only wish I could get the balance right. What I find is that I procrastinate when there is something I don't like/am scared of doing, or a task that I find challenging. I should be concentrating on marketing my next novel, but there are so many other things I simply must do first, like being on Gransnet and cleaning the fabric softener dispenser in the washing machine and....
